My parents and I went across the Verrazano-Narrows bridge the week after Christmas 1968, when I was 8. We were heading West from Brooklyn to Staten Island, heading back to our home in Virginia, after visiting some cousins in Brooklyn. I didn't know at the time that the lower deck was being built.
As Brooklyn resident last year I work 14 months in Staten Island and visit me 5 k tolls. I like the bridge but I don’t like the price if you travel every day.
hello jatv, our family never needed to cross this bridge much - the bridge was a background for airport drive on the BQE to fly out of the country at JFK. the dad and mom were driving us but now the leftovers of the kiddies we all gone japanese style and public transport to the airports by the subway or pay a flat bus ride near 8th ave and 40th street. the bridge is a beauty at over $15 toll when all the othe bridges to the city are toll free - a pedestrian bridge more. if i was near this bridge it would be for to pennsylvania faster instead of going through the holland tunnel. crossing bridge tax is higher in nyc than nyc to jersey. elle for a regular of gwb
You should consider filming these with a VR camera and offering them as a paid service for people with phobias of bridges. It’s good exposure therapy - DM if you want to talk more about what that is
I crossed that bridge many times it sure brings back memories
