I would recommend just to feed them once a day quiet a large amount, as that will make them last the hole day. You could also try giving them seeds in addition the the rest! Hopes this helps…

How do the sand hydrate the acryl nest?
There's a tube in the nest for hydration. I had to hydrate the sand because I will open the entrance of it for some digging.
