Hey Kirk, it is just a standard communication pit lifter. But we got it painted orange so that it stands out more and less chance of leaving it on site.
Yeah you can use sonde, we generally don't as we locate the copper wire in the rod which generally gives us a good enough signal, but in congested areas, or for deep services then yes a sonde is the way to go
Hi Ressy, it can't be done. Sometimes they have a trace wire on them so you can locate that, other times you can run over the area with a ground penetrating radar and you might see the trench that it was laid in. But if no tracer wire and if the soil conditions are poor and you can't penetrate it with a the radar, then it can't be located. That's when we bring the non destructive digging truck out and just dig down where the plan says it should be and try and find it that way. And yes, it does drive me crazy that they can't be located.
thanks, hmmm I would have thought with all the metal armouring they could be, I guess the outer sheath has some properties that stops it, thanks anyway
ummm yes there is, if its true direct bury armoured (not just combined indoor/outdoor rated, like might be used in ducts etc), it has a steel tape around it to assist with crush resistance, both corning and belden supply it, and I've seen some cheap chinese stuff also made this way. it of course requires grounding kits prior to building entry :) see Belden part number (google if you dont have their prod cat) FSSL0126G for single jacket arm, and FSSH0126G for dbl jacket arm'd
@@GeelongCableLocations ohh thanks bro for replying, i also have the radio detection fibre glass rod named flexrod, but i tried DC it using transmitter but it doesn't give me signal so i assume the flexrod doesn't have metal inside it. if i direct connection a cooper wire instead will i get a good signal to locate?
@@GeelongCableLocations im sorry but what you meaning with 'we bite onto that' 😅 do you mean you direct connection it? does your rod are same with radio detection flextrace? im trying locating a long fibre optic around one kilometer in length.. im so out of idea right now. can you help me with some advise.. tq so much sir.
Hi Harsh, do you mean any other forms of locating an optic fibre other than what you watched in this video? And what you mean mean when you say 'power meter or otdr'? Regards Ben
Hi Harsh, still haven't heard back from you about this one so I'm assuming you're all sorted now. If you're not and still need help, then feel free to get back in touch again. Cheers Ben

I've ran a fish tape up conduit a few times for shorter locates.
Yep, brilliant idea.
What kind of lid opener is the orange tool? Thanks!

do you use sonde at the end of the glass rod?

how do you go tracing direct buried armored FO?

Ressy6 what do you mean metal armor. Optic fibre that is directly laid in the ground is plastic there is no metal around it.
Hang on, what country are you in? Are you here in Australia?

how did u detect the fibre glass rod??
Hi Mohammad, the fibre glass rod we use has a copper wire in the middle of it, so we bite onto that and that is what we then locate.

Hi, do you have any device like tone tester to trace fiber drop cable in a wire bunch?
No I don't.
Gudday.. Can you give me a link or contact info of your traceable 'reel' rodder supplier? I can't seem to find one locally.. Thanks
Really that's surprising as there are a fair few online.
I guess it depends if you know what your looking for 😊
What country are you in?

Do you have any device which detected optical fibre cable with accurate location with the help of any power meter or otdr

this guy talks really fast and its hard to hear some words he is saying but its easier to listen to if you set the playback speed to 0.75x
hahahaha, hey Ray, good tip, thank you.
You can also turn on captions as each video has been transcribed so you can read along as well, if that helps.
