I did Airbnb and VRBO 4 years. Never came home during that time. Rented in US, Canada and Europe. Did a few housesitting gigs as well. Stayed at 73 different places. Would stay at each place on average 1 to 2 months. One housesitting gig was for 5 months. It was a great adventure one that will never be forgotten.
We northerners just wear more clothing. "There's no bad weather, only bad clothing choices". I'm half swede, and we were put outside in the sun at least every week during the worst cold to keep us healthy. Dad also "aired out the house" at the same time by opening windows. I have memories of birds sitting on the windowsill to warm up. We got to -30F in my area of the county.
40 days in one spot....... I don't know about that....... Plus we're looking at from now until June. He could go through a couple more class c and who knows what else by then 😅
Rusty, We really enjoy All of Your videos and the semi constant changes! It lets people that are contemplating a change in life that might resemble one of Your adventures!!! 👍👍👍👍
I could never give up on RVing. You pull up with everything you need, no unpacking ..It's just like you're moving your whole house. And best of all, if you aren't pleased, moving on is a piece of cake. Rentals..too much work. Glad you found something to keep you busy though Rusty, with all that planning.🍻
The problem is you get eaten alive by fuel costs. The Prius can move around cheaply and with turnkey rentals all you're doing extra is walking in with your suitcases.
@@kennethkilpatrick3758 Just deciding where you want the digits to go in my opinion. A nice turnkey place in a touristy area like Taos is gonna set Rusty back more than an RV spot and and the fuel to get there. But I think Rusty is just looking for change, which I completely understand. I am still trapped on the hamster wheel myself, hence my love to RV.
@@RVCAMPINMAN But you have the RV investment to consider also. Don't get me wrong, I love RV's. But if he's only going to travel a few months a year then he's going to come out ahead. Do you know why places like Taos are touristy? Because they're really nice places to visit. You can boondock on BLM land to your heart's content but a lot of that is nothing special. It's just being away from people. That has limited charm after awhile. It's why people like Rusty, myself, and a lot of RVers are always on the move. We get restless.
Rusty, can't wait for your trip to Taos! I have always wanted to go there. I have a class B RV, and even though you won't be going there in an RV, I hope you can show us places to go and stay, in your driving videos. You always give us a wealth of information, that is so helpful. Thank you!
I've never been to Taos either. Look forward to your adventures. You are more "free" right now than you've been for a while, especially when zozo sells.
Plans will 100% change between now and next week 😂. That money will be burning a hole in your pocket and you will be buying something. There is no way you will stay put until June.
Let's face it...if you open a dictionary to"RV'ing", there is a a photo of Rusty's mug displayed. Heck, I think the term was created to better describe Rusty's lifestyle. Move from place to place with little to no planning, on the cheap, with ease.
Rusty did it for about 30 years. A lot of people change paths around 80 years old though. My dad snow skied daily from age 50 until age 75, then decided he couldn't ski anymore so he sold his house by the ski resort and spent the house money cruising the world on cruise ships. As long as the plan isn't to "sit in a chair and rot in front of the TV", I'm all in favor of the plan. 🙂
I've been playing with the idea of towing a teardrop trailer with a Toyota Corolla hybrid fulltime in the New Mexico state parks. But more and more as I get older I'll probably want my own place and a more settled life. Can't afford that in the States. Looking at Cambodia. Either make a substantial investment in the car and teardrop or go to Cambodia. But here in Florida until my dad passes. He's 86 in March.
More importantly on refunds, after your stay at the rental has started, and for some crazy reason let's say you're not exactly thrilled to be in that location anymore, for whatever reason. Are you able to get a refund on any unused portion of your reservation?
@@rusty78609 Well we'll hope you're content with this place then or it'll be a costly experiment. Can't be cheap staying in a touristy, busy area like Taos.
Rusty good for you... Thought the Transit was sold a long time ago, oops... Missed that deal. My question: is there a noticeable difference between the Corolla Hybrid and your new Prius ???
I've gotta say the biggest disappointment to me, when you were staying in the Capizozo area, will be the regular updates from Levi's outlaw mountaintop camp. I really enjoyed those videos. You guys had a great rapport going on.
Are u sure about starlink? It's my understanding that they will prorate the month if u don't use it the full month. Have a great day Rusty. Peace. Exciting times planning scenarios. 👏
Why would you give up RV traveling?Isn't RV traveling cheaper than Renting places? Some states are also hard to book.Anything You gotta book it a year ahead of time.Just so you're aware
When Rusty said at 2:12 that he got a new car, how many people initially thought he traded in the Prius on something else? 😂😂😂

Dont go to quartzsite, it was so bad it turned him off RVing. he's the 2nd youtuber I saw go there and almost instantly leave with disgust
There's probably a rocket ship for sale on ebay, sir... You're my hero! One man economic stimulus!

Yes, ma'am! AIR THE HOUSE! LOL.
Plans are good!
Rusty That’s wonderful news on your sales! It’s a great feeling when things come together isn’t it? Congratulations!🎉🎈🎊 🎉
You'd better rent by the day... You know you'll be out in less than a week.

North of Taos are a whole bunch of Earthship homes. Might make an interesting video.
