I find it amusing that none of the videos on Bakki mention the black student who was admitted to the medical school instead of Bakki. He was so unqualified that he killed a patient through negligence and lost his license. He was evaluated by the medical board who stated he was so deficient in medicine that he should have never been allowed to get a medical license in the first place. That is the real problem with quotas.

@@name_chan Look up Patrick Chavis. There's a New York Times article from 2002 that confirms he did kill a patient and was admitted to UC Davis's medical school program in 1973, the year Bakke was applying to get in UC Davis.

@@Sgtklark Someone else gave me a source, so I looked into it. From the other sources that I have also read, I would say that you're leaving out some important stuff. Your comment made me think that he immediately lost his license, but it seemed like he was mostly successful delivering babies until he was accused of mishandling a delivery. When he started doing liposuctions, that's when things really went downhill.
All of this doesn't really seem to have much to do with affirmative action though... Out of the 5 black students admitted, only Chavis remains infamous. Not to mention, there's also other people outside of the medical field who've graduated and become successful even after AA.

Why does everyone say that the Bakke decision made the quota system unconstitutional? Wasn't it struck down on statutory (Title VI) grounds? Or is that basically the same as constitutional (14th Amendment) grounds?

You’ve failed to mention the fact that the University had a quota in place, that 16 out of every 100 students had to be minorities, and the Supreme Court shot that down and any use of quotas. Was leaving this out intentional or accidental?
