i have a 2004 volvo xc70 and i ordered the timing belt kit based on my serial 3399470. I got the kit and it has the new style tensioner. When i began the install, to my surprise, installed was the old style, 61,000 miles earlier. Im not sure what to do. i took the old one off and i saw gthe square notch from the engine block that the new one is suppose to fit around.
Adjusting the old pre2004 style tensioner (the new post 2004 one is adjusted by moving the opposite way) th-cam.com/video/C-qhJ8Vjhu8/w-d-xo.html The tensioner was changed in mid 2004, you need to use your engine serial number for the change is 3188689 for all P2 models (S60, V70, XC70, XC90). This number is either on the sticker on the timing belt cover, or (more difficult to see) stamped on the back of the engine block. th-cam.com/video/irtWJPYWyGg/w-d-xo.html
