A review of the Grundig (Eton) Satellit 750 Radio. Comments are welcomed and please give me a thumbs up or down. Please subscribe to my videos and thanks for watching. Tom
Bank in the olden days I dragged home a broken tv and a bunch of ARRL magazines that had a diagram of a 40/80 meter 5 watt transmitter. Transmitter had and output of about 5 watts, I use light bulb as a load to restrict the signal going out. I believe I used a 6V6 as my final. Memory might be a little foggy, I think I was only 11 or 12 at that time.
that is a very beautiful radio.i have a smaller grundig and love it.i just got a new radio yesterday for my birthday thats coming up.the radio i got was a HAMMARLUND HQ170.it is awesome.it is for sure a boat anchor but such a classic and easy to use and the reception is top notch.i listened to the ecars net on 40 meters yesterday,it never sounded better. enjoy your radios, love your ''show''. 73,KB3YJO
Thanks for your comments. Yes, I prefer to review radios I owe but I also like to review radios I wish I owed to get feedback from viewers like you. You are correct about it being released in 2008 and I corrected the my statement in the video about 100 vs 1000 memories when I did the original edit by using a text overlay (you may have missed it if you were not looking at the screen at that time). Thanks for your time. Tom
Thanks for the comment. As told the other person, that would great limit the radios I could review and since I did the research for myself anyway, might as well save some one the time and share what I found. Lastly, by sharing what I find, I am hoping someone who actually owes one will leave a comment about his or her first hand experience. Thanks for watching my videos, Tom
I just got my new Grundig 750 radio yesterday. My problem is I know nothing about short wave radios. Do you have a how to get started video for beginners? Thank you Paul
I remember back in olden days (I am 74 now) when I first into listening to shortwave I became frustrated trying to listen to SSB, I did not have a SSB receiver. Some how I figured out that if I put another radio right new to the receiver and tuned it just right I could understand the SSB signal. I think it had something to do with the IF frequency give off my the other radio. Have you every heard of that?
Hi I have just tried my Eton Sat 750 i have recently purchased & i think it is Deaf compared to my Sony 2010 on aircraft & HF which are both supposed to be portables ie do not need an external Antenna .It seems to look better than it performs which is why i purchased it.
nice review. It does seem strange to review a radio you haven't actually used though. have you tried contacting the manufacturer & requesting a demo unit for review? I'd like to point out a couple of things, 1000 is one thousand, not one hundred (@ 9:50 in your video). Also, the satellit 750 is not very old. It came out after the satellit 800, in 2008, not early 80's as you say @ 4:20. I don't know why Eton uses such an odd way of tuning ssb signals, a mode switch & a bfo.
That is a toss up. From what I have read and seen both are great radios but have a different look and feel. I think I would like the display and S meter on the Grundig better than the Sangean. I tried to borrow each of these but the friend that had them died and his girl friend sold everything he had the day after he died.
They were on sale for $240 when I got mine but have jumped up lately. Quite often Amazon will have them on sale for a short period of time. There are many used ones on sale but there is always that risk.

Yes, that does work sometimes.
At that time I really did not know what sideband was

They are pretty much the same except these older ones have better quality control.
