- SO THE DAY FINALLY COMES TO GET THE SCOOBY REMAPPED.
The day was going so well, numbers were looking good.. she was pulling like a train, we get a final graph of 310 ftlb and 293bhp..
so we take her off the dyno and go for a few test runs..
and 3rd gear decided it didnt like it very much, so it packed its bags, left home, took 4th with him.. and ive not seen them since.
But have no fear..
Stella is at Richards at Flat Four Performance, we ordered a another gearbox and richard is going to be putting it in, and if all goes to plan we should be picking it up Sunday night!

Very informative comments from the mapper. Clearly an engineer and speaks very eloquently. Yes, more power can be had with less boost if everything is efficient. Thankfully gearbox isn't too expensive, but gearing 'might' throw your map askew if you fit a different gearbox (do you have "boost by gear" set up? Glad you have a 3 port solenoid now. Lots of learning and enjoy the journey. Hint - please run the dash cam cable along the the roof trim and down the A pillar to the fuse box. Much neater, less distracting and safer. Enjoy.

I got no gears. It won't drive. If do grinding sound. How do I tell if axle or gearbox?

I'm thinking a sti6 speed. Bit I'm running no more than 275bhp on 2002 wrx. Cold induction, decat, bigger intercooler, walbro fuel pump n 3 port.
I put new clutch New flywheel, tyres n pop. 😂😂😂 I can only laugh. I did so much work. I took engine out to replace rear seal myself n separator plates. Plus other stuff all myself so this hurt.
I did t know 5speed is glass.
What shall I do? Rebuild? Cheap replace as possible or convert to sti6 speed. Apparently the 2002 wrx easy to swap.

I'm sorry but you never put a knock detector on top of the inlet manifold... what a cowboy. The subaru ecu is a self learn unit, when you ran the car on normal unleaded the ecu would of been retarding the timing to compensate for the low octane. That plumb shouldn't be mapping a subaru.

Just got my Blobeye remapped to 339bhp to the wheels on the standard STI type uk gearbox. Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come...

Standard power for sti blobeyes is 280 ain’t it and then the wrx is 225 my brother has a wrx and his is 225 so I can’t understand how yours is the same?

What an absolute nightmare I feel your pain. My old S4 just after I had it remapped the Synchromesh shattered just after all the bits of metal shards completely knackered the rest of the gearbox and blew a hole out of it I'm sure yours isn't as bad as what you think anyway hope you get it sorted as love watching your videos.

My mate did almost the exact same thing to his evo last month. Mapped to 412bhp then 4th gear let go on the dyno the same afternoon.
Check the pins on the selector rods in the bay. Happened to me a week ago and one had just fell off and needed putting back with a new pin!

Go for the 6 speed STi box mate... it will handle more than the 300bhp... I've got a 2008 in my 2001 bugeye and heavy duty clutch = happy days!

When i had mine it made 280bhp/315lbsft. I was still running the stock up pipe which was probably giving up a couple of bhp.

Steve, mapped my simtek all them years ago! Shame he wouldnt unlock it so another rolling road could tune, had to fork out for a alcatek and now theve gone tits up i believe.

I remember when I was 19 I bought my 6th car it was a Impreza prodrive it had 487hp was amazing everyone wanted it because of how fast it was. But with me not knowing cars at the time the radiator hose came off and I didn't know what it was for and after a while the engine seized complete waste of a 10k engine.

throw a 07-14 sti 6 speed in it and it wont break again and put some good Gearbox fluid in. i run Penrite Progear 75w-90 in my Sti gearbox and both diff but any GL5-GL6 or MT1 high pressure anti crash fluid will work well.... 5 speeds are made of dried spaghetti and cardboard in wrx's mostly in the bug eyes.
Hope you sort the car soon, bet the box was on its way out for ages before the purchased car and just finished it off. Keep up the good vids we all love em.

Mate feel your pain, had the same thing happen to my GTI, but it spat out it gears all over the road when it locked up at 50mph which was fun, that always the danger with older car and more power, first thing that going to go is the bloody gearbox.

Gutted for you but could've been worse i have had my bottom end go and worn the lobes on my cams badly before which made both engines need a lot of work so just a gearbox swap isn't that bad. Hope you get her sorted soon anyway mate 🖒

Adgespeed in Manchester, I got a uk 6 speed from him at Christmas £1350 completely changes the car. Thats gearbox, gear linkage an prop shaft. Can use the newage 5 speed cradle, rear diff, clutch fly wheel an starter motor makes it 5-600 quid cheaper, it is well worth it. Your box must of been well shagged I've been running 290hp on my 5 speed with a fucked center diff for 4 years.

A see sti badges on it but is it a wrx 5 speed bro?-They are infamous for being shite.If so replace it for a 6 speed set up.Ye wont regret it.Mines has been running 400 bhp for over a year now with no probs.
