Having just taken delivery, today, of a drum brute impact, I'm grateful that you've added this excellent tutorial. Between this and your Polyrhythmic Monster video, I'm already good to go! Thank you!

I play drums and have a Roland TD-27 kit. I actually use this drum machine to program beats to play, rock, jazz, etc. I plug that into my TD-27 and use that as a play along. It's less boring than using a click. As far as using it as a drum machine, it may be a bit "older" but nothing is really old or outdated if you have some guitar pedals laying around. Reverb, echo, delay, chorus, and all, can make for unlimited sounds.

That's awesome! Maybe I'll hook up the Impact with my TD-17, sounds like fun :)

@@FreeBeat Yea I just go arturia out to td27 in. (same thing for 17 of course) and my goal is to only hear the td27 because that means I'm right in time with whatever I setup on the drumbrute. Kind of like playing over a click, if you are right on you never hear it

One of the easiest drum machines to use and easily one of the best sequencers as well with its ease of use. What it lacks is sound modulation and better adsr per voice.
I recommend the drumbrutes for styles like house, juke/footwork, and hard-core and some styles of techno.

Take its output into any sort of FX chain, and it’s a lot more interesting.

@@FreeBeat I am really hoping they put it on a more sophisticated drum synth engine. I dream of a DrumFreak.

i picked up one of these a little whiles back and i totally appreciate it, i love the invididual outs hook ups for hook up effects and i've actually been recording different one shots into my MPC 1000 trying to build some sounds in it. It has a weird thing where file names can only be so long so tons of my samples need to be renamed, refoldered, or converted. I have thousands of files i want on it, of course they work fine on my MPC One! Either way i'm rambling, it's a super easy drum machine and its fun to use ill set it up on a loop and ill just jam on my keyboard.

The tip on how to switch instruments without hearing it via holding shift is a missing jigsaw piece! I was always trying so hard to hit the pad on time (and mostly failing!) so no one hears the switch. Thanks.

In the old day keyboards never had work stations, think yamaha made the first one's in the mid too late 80's with the PSS series, my first keyboard had a bass sequencer you used a tape machine for and a build in drum machine. yes check out the yamaha MK 100 lol. never even had a memory, In them day you did everything the hard way.

Things I hate anout this drum machine:
The random knob. Would've been so much better to have probability steps like a Korg Volca. Random is almost completely unusable.
No modulation recoding. Again, Korg Volca does this way better.
    Things I like:
Fm drum and kick drum sounds
