I’m watching from Maryland, USA but I’m originally from Guyana. I came to the US for graduate school and had the wonderful opportunity of meeting a family from from Uganda who treated me like family. I will never forget them, especially the mother. They were tall, dark and really beautiful. In fact one of the daughters won the Miss Black America in either 94 or 95.
Guyana is in South America. It borders Brazil, Venezuela and Suriname ( before Dutch Guiana). It is the only English speaking country in South America. As a result, it’s considered part of the Caribbean for cultural and economic reasons. There are three Guianas’ . Guyana, which was known as British Guiana. Suriname, which was known as Dutch Guiana and Cayenne which is French Guiana.

It is such a darn shame how little is taught about Africa in schools. I learned more about Uganda and this region in just a few minutes than I did in my entire life. For example one thing in particular which caught my attention, I’ve always known since childhood as it is true for most of us, about the Nile River and associated it only with Egypt but yet no connection has ever been made with Uganda. The only time any mention has been made that I remember was in the news about Iddi Amin.
Yes, it’s true. I was just a baby during the time of Iddi Amin, but here in USA, I May remember wrongly but, I don’t think it was a good reputation. In this video they say he brought the economy back to his country from foreign countries. I don’t see what’s wrong with that.🤷🏾♀️ It’s a gorgeous country. I would love to visit Uganda one day.😁

It is such a darn shame how little is taught about Africa in schools. I learned more about Uganda and this region in just a few minutes than I did in my entire life. For example one thing in particular which caught my attention, I’ve always known since childhood as it is true for most of us, about the Nile River and associated it only with Egypt but yet no connection has ever been made with Uganda. The only time any mention has been made that I remember was in the news about Iddi Amin.
Yes, it’s true. I was just a baby during the time of Iddi Amin, but here in USA, I May remember wrongly but, I don’t think it was a good reputation. In this video they say he brought the economy back to his country from foreign countries. I don’t see what’s wrong with that.🤷🏾♀️

@Ben Campbell -Although with quite an abrasive personality, he is or was one of the few public figures who did not mince words but rather said it how it is. And he wasn’t afraid to do it and that we must respect ✊

Much love to Uganda from Virginia, USA. I went to school with a friend whose family is from Uganda, we went for 3 weeks and visited Entebbe, Kampala, Jinja, and got to spend time with lots of amazing people in the process. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I’m truly grateful to have been to such a beautiful country with some of the most incredible people in the world!
