Agree on Rose floating head and most Berk Ross’s, though my BR Richie Ashburn has some color, they are not cards to be admired. I can live with the early century cards; I like having what they thought were cool then-haha Joe DiMaggio.
I like the Wilson Franks Williams. Fully agree on all others. I do have the Ruth with Bird as it completed my 21-22 e121 run of his but it’s certainly not a card I like either.
The worst of the lot is the Rose followed by the Joe D. I like the Reese from an art point of view but really like your reasons for disliking the card and all the others.
Some of the multiple player RC I just can't understand why they sell for so much. I like multiple player cards and floating head because they are mostly cheap and affordable to me. I still like that Reese card and will own it one day along with the '53 Paige. I will have to buy a few of these if I want to complete some sets from the 50's and 60's. I am with you on a few of these Dave. Merry Christmas.

Wow Dave couldn’t agree more on the Rose rookie; what was Topps thinking with that floating head design; also agree with that phony looking posed ‘53 Bowman Reese card; if we can say Reese is throwing to first base to complete a double play (most likely), shouldn’t the base runner be facing the opposite direction?; the whole card looks badly staged
Even some of these cards that I can stand I still wouldn’t pay up for but that’s what’s great about our hobby. Really awesome concept for a video enjoyed the ones where you went deeper with the analysis 👊🏼
I don't like the floating head cards either. I have the Stargell Rookie. The graphic designers at Topps should have been fired for designing those cards. It's beyond me how they thought that removing the necks would have the cards more visually appealing. They look like heads appearing in a portal/mirror in a horror movie scene.
Great video Dave. I'm going to give the most unpopular opinion on a card I really don't like. Brace yourselves......it's the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. I've never thought it even looks like him at all. It's not a rare card, yet it's priced at if it is. I'll take his real rookie card, the 1951 Bowman over the 52 Topps all day, every day. Much better photo, year earlier, and looks like him. Same would be true for the 52 Topps Mays vs. the 51 Bowman Mays. Much better picture in the 51 Bowman. Just my opinion.
I agree , Nolan Ryan rookie, sold mine, was putting together a 1963 set stopped at the Rose rookie, love the Delongs and love the 1953 Paige as it comes from my childhood and loved it then and now and do own it.
I agree on the Nolan Ryan Topps rookie as I hate most of the 60’s/70’s/80’s multiple player rookie cards. The Rose doesn’t bother me as much because it has more colors then your typical bland design from that era. The ‘38 DiMaggio is ridiculous looking, yet it’s so unique that I sort of like it. If there were more sets like that then I don’t think it would be iconic. But it sort of sums up that time period and how cards were evolving before finding their grove in the 1950’s. Can I throw in an iconic modern card I hate? 1992 Bowman Mariano Rivera. The greatest reliever ever, and his most sought out rookie card has him decked out like he’s going to dinner.
Top of my list of popular cards I don't like: 1952 Topps Willie Mays. I love Willie Mays, and he's one of the top players I collect. But I just can't stand that card - it looks like they surprised him coming out of the bathroom in a dark clubhouse.
Triggered. So, I have been thinking about this from time to time since I first watched your video. If you don't like the 53 Bowman Color Reese, then I now dislike the 49 Leaf Ted Williams.
This cracked me up. Lots of good points, even if we as collectors disagree. I do like the multiplayer RC's simply because to me, they showcase the innocence of the time. "Hey, nobody knows these guys, let's get as many on one card as possible." Clearly if Topps had known Nolan Ryan or Pete Rose was going to turn out to be who they did, they would have gotten their own cards. Beyond that I kind of agree with you those are not conventionally great looking cards - but ones that just became iconic in our minds after the fact because of who is depicted and what they came to mean to the hobby. If you think about it, the '52 Topps Mantle is not the best looking card from the standpoint of pure image, either. He's kind of scowling...
@@Bluejacket66 I suppose the '63 Topps Mays wouldn't be considered a great looking card in that vein. He's in the middle of a classic Candlestick fog, kind of half-grinning. It was the first Mays card I had as a kid back in the late 80's - have always just loved it because of that.
I would agree with you on all of these except the Reese and the Satch..... but I understand what you're saying about those. I even agree with you on one of my grail cards, the wilson Frank's teddy.....
Wow 😳 I’m speechless…”Tell me how you really feel” 😂 I have to agree with you with Rose, and Ryan…cannot agree with you on 53 Reece, and Paige. Hot topic debatable video for sure. I’m wondering if we all made a video on this theme, what the percentages breakdown would be overall. 🧐🤔
I agree, great idea for a video. I don't get the draw to a lot of these cards either, but a lot of people don't get my fandom of the Exhibit cards. My favorite Paige is the 1949 Exhibit.
Heck if we all loved and hated the same cards that would be pretty boring! I do agree with you on 60% of them but what I hate today I might love next year! 😁 Awesome video and I always love hearing your thoughts!
Here are a few of mine. 55 Clemente and Koufax rookies are poorly done. Pictures look goofy - - especially the background depiction of Roberto. The sickly pink 59 Bob Gibson always makes my stomach queasy. Also, I just can't get excited about the Alcindor rookie. It's fine but nothing to write home about. In a sane world the 64 Rose would be his most valuable card. You're right, the 63 sucks. Oh, now I can't look at the 53 Satchel without thinking of THB so thanks a lot for that.
Agreed on some disagree on others but ultimately love a good triggering video. The 63 Rose is almost universally hated though, no? That was your softball lead into the triggering that was to follow lol.
I couldn't stop chuckling. Never gave much thought to specific cards that I don't like other than those mass-produced in the junk wax era because I collect vintage only. I will admit that a few of those you showed I'd give my left you-know-what to own. After listening to your rationale, I do understand and look at them in a little different light. Happy Holidays, Dave!
Fun video Dave. I agree on a lot of these cards but I can't get on board with the 53 Bowman Pee Wee Reese. I've always been a fan of the 33 Delongs so I do enjoy the Gehrig. There are many of the old judge cards that are so spectacularly bad that they are awesome. I have always thought that the Ruth "bird" card was one of the strangest cards out there.
Funny truths?... A troll (noun) was originally a mythical ugly creature, now it usually means an intentionally disruptive person on the internet. To troll (verb) originally meant to run a baited fishing line in the water while boating, and waiting for fish to bite and get caught. “Internet trolling” involves 'baiting' people.
Good takes! I own the E91B Plank despite always being irked by the generic childlike renderings in this set. To me, it still speaks to that period and I like owning ONE 😂
I have never seen a video like this, unique, and interesting. I can agree with a lot of those, more that most probably. I LOVE delong cards, all of them but never got the Reese card as iconic like most do. I can't get over the guy sliding face down. Panel rookie cards are an absolute anathema. They have prevented me from becoming a 'rookie' collector. I'd much rather have many second year cards with trophys or cups. Rice, Carew, etc.
Sell me the Reese if you have it. Great video idea, reminded of the earlier TH-cam years when set registry collectors were big. Thought it was odd when they would buy cards they didn't like and complain just to move up on the registry
I liked the video and the topic! My hero Roberto Clemente had some real blah cards in his career. I like them because they are Roberto, but that's about the extent of it.
Agree with most, especially Rose, although I do like that Paige. For me it’s the 55 Bowman set. I cannot get on-board with the TV border, makes me want to vomit. Merry Christmas Dave!
The Card Whisper has spoken..😝😂😒 Strongly agree with the 3 R's Ruth,Rose,&Ryan also not a fan of the Mathewson.. Interesting snarky video Dave I love it..💕🤘 Take care and Happy Holidays..👍💕🔥⚾🤙
nice list. pretty much agree with you. i hate multi player cards also. the Paige choice hit me in the gut. one I would add to list is 57 Aaron. don't want a card of him batting lefty.
Cards where you can’t tell who it is, if not for the name on the card, have always been among my least favorites… I guess we part ways on the montage Ruth cards (1922 and 1927). I wouldn’t say I dislike them, but not my favorites.
Saw your title and knew this would be great! I'm not a big fan of the '53 Ninja Pee Wee, love the Wilson Franks Ted Williams but it could be simply because I am heavily biased in favor of Ted Williams!
Enjoyed this! I’ve never liked that Rose and if I ever add a “big” one, it’ll be his second card. The only one I could disagree with is the Wilson Franks Williams. I’ve always found it a visually appealing card.
Lol great trigger work Dave 😄 now I have to respond! I used to think the Rose rc was ugly too, then I set my heart on aquiring it and that changed my mind. I still get a special feeling when holding it. I don't really care for the Ryan rc either, but still hope to own it someday. Really suprised you used to not like the 33 Delong. That's one of my very favorite looking vintage sets. Even the size of them is cool. I personally think the Paige looks very realistic. Like a real, distinct person, even though perhaps texturized. Anyways. Love hearing your thoughts.
Agree on all of these. The 53 Bowman Color is a great set but the Reese, Feller, and Hodges cards are my least favorites as they seem to be taken too far away. You would have trouble telling who they are if the names were not on the card.
Great video, Dave. I know it borders on sacrilegious to not like the Pee Wee Reese. I am not a fan. I much prefer his 52 Bowman. The 63 Rose is the only one I don’t have from his Topps run and I refuse to buy it for the price. There are so many other cards I would rather have. Like many, I am big Mantle fan, but the Berk Ross is awful. I don’t love any of the cards you listed with the exception of the Delong Gehrig. Merry Christmas. Terry
Haha wow I didn't think anyone disliked the 53 Reese 😂... In fairness I refuse to buy one because they are way overpriced. And you definitely threw me off with the 33 Delong because I actually learned about the card from one of your older videos where I was pretty sure you said you searched for the right copy for a quite some time. Haha very interesting video

Great idea for a video and well done! Love it
Thanks my friend….. and yes, you love the Reese😝
@@Bluejacket66 I do 😆 but 100% agree on many others.
Great stuff, Dave. Really enjoyed. I do love the 53 Reese.
Thanks Scott
Sell me the Reese if you have it. Great video idea, reminded of the earlier TH-cam years when set registry collectors were big. Thought it was odd when they would buy cards they didn't like and complain just to move up on the registry
If I run across a Reese I’ll send it to you.
I don’t need the registry to complain 😄
Hey "Prison Mike" I own a couple of those......but have to agree with you 🤪
!!!!
I liked the video and the topic!
My hero Roberto Clemente had some real blah cards in his career. I like them because they are Roberto, but that's about the extent of it.
You know I agree with you he has some real duds, none however do I really dislike
Agree with most, especially Rose, although I do like that Paige.
For me it’s the 55 Bowman set. I cannot get on-board with the TV border, makes me want to vomit.
Merry Christmas Dave!
I do not own a 1955 B mantle for that reason
The Card Whisper has spoken..😝😂😒 Strongly agree with the 3 R's Ruth,Rose,&Ryan also not a fan of the Mathewson.. Interesting snarky video Dave I love it..💕🤘 Take care and Happy Holidays..👍💕🔥⚾🤙
Merry Christmas Jackie!
nice list. pretty much agree with you. i hate multi player cards also. the Paige choice hit me in the gut. one I would add to list is 57 Aaron. don't want a card of him batting lefty.
I think that Aaron is beautiful!😂
Yes. I avoided the 57 Aaron for that very reason, even though it is a nice looking card
Cards where you can’t tell who it is, if not for the name on the card, have always been among my least favorites… I guess we part ways on the montage Ruth cards (1922 and 1927). I wouldn’t say I dislike them, but not my favorites.
I love the Montage Ruth… I’d like to own one. I see that gaining popularity
I love this. Not all cards are aesthetically great, and it's good to stir the pot sometimes.
I love to stir. Sir
Dave's growing out his Santa beard! 🎅
Funny you say that! I shaved right after the video😂
Saw your title and knew this would be great! I'm not a big fan of the '53 Ninja Pee Wee, love the Wilson Franks Ted Williams but it could be simply because I am heavily biased in favor of Ted Williams!
Bias is a big factor
I LOOOOOOVVVVEEE the 1949 satchel Paige but…… ( pssssst it’s ugly)
This was a great idea for a video. That may have been the first time I’ve heard Nolan Ryan referred to as a pencil-neck. That made me laugh.
I had to add some drama
I’ve seen his headlocks and I wouldn’t want in it
Enjoyed this! I’ve never liked that Rose and if I ever add a “big” one, it’ll be his second card. The only one I could disagree with is the Wilson Franks Williams. I’ve always found it a visually appealing card.
No need to agree… it’s all art, to each their own
Lol great trigger work Dave 😄 now I have to respond!
Thanks for the input- yes the Delong I’ve grown to love…. Happy collecting
Agree on all of these. The 53 Bowman Color is a great set but the Reese, Feller, and Hodges cards are my least favorites as they seem to be taken too far away. You would have trouble telling who they are if the names were not on the card.
Yes I forgot to mention that the picture was taken from out in the parking lot!
My reply will be the unexpected because that’s just what I do. So, have you been to Mount Pleasant then?
Mount pleasant???
I know a mt pleasant in Illinois
@@Bluejacket66 Mount Pleasant Iowa The Midwest Old Threshers Reunuion
Enjoyed this like your comments agree with most of your dislikes
Most would disagree with you I’d bet
Great video, Dave. I know it borders on sacrilegious to not like the Pee Wee Reese. I am not a fan. I much prefer his 52 Bowman. The 63 Rose is the only one I don’t have from his Topps run and I refuse to buy it for the price. There are so many other cards I would rather have. Like many, I am big Mantle fan, but the Berk Ross is awful. I don’t love any of the cards you listed with the exception of the Delong Gehrig. Merry Christmas. Terry
People really like the Delong… I’ve come around in it too!
The Reese I’m just not Gaga over. The Delong Ive done a 180
Would it be cooler if Ryan was a "pencil necked" black guy?
….. maybe🤷♂️
There are 2 absolutely WILD takes in this video:
1. Pete Rose as a top 10 player
2. The Pee Wee Reese card. Come on man. Send it to me 😂
Well I give rose this
1) most hits in mlb history, 17x AS, MVP
2) played the game hard every single moment.
3) was a winner…. A WINNER!!!
Who is your winner? Mike Trout🤣
I’ll try to find the Reese in my dollar box 🤷♂️
@@Bluejacket66 Rose was a fine player. Just not top 10… I’m more of a Rickey Henderson guy.
@@tdfowler79You’re right of course! I got a little carried away 😅
