I just think RB is too easily replaced which is why I’m going WR heavy, if Jefferson goes down nobody replaces him on the vikings with similar production. But if Cook went down, Mattison immediately gives you almost the same value, there’s many instances like this in the league last year (ex: Perine for Joe Mixon)
My typical drafting strategy through first 4 rounds is RB/WR/RB/WR (or RB/RB/WR/WR), but I use that strategy after years of trial and error and “feel” for fantasy ff. The data presented in this video supports what I have felt and seen over the years (wish I had this kind of analysis when I first started). I love getting RBs in rounds 1-3 for stable performance over the course of a season and then find the diamonds in the late rounds (particularly at the TE position) and through waivers.
I have been taking Quentin Johnston and Roschon Johnson every time I get a chance late in drafts. I usually take a shot at rookies like that, and more times than not I am really happy by the end of the year.
im 100% in on brandin cooks this year, I might be biased as a cowboys fan but he just looks so quick in every video of camp ive seen. Also Dak has supported 2 1000 yard WRs while also having the number 3 WR go for 800 yards, so I feel good that cooks can get to 1000 yards if he stays healthy.
I think Rashad Penny is a interesting backup who can be a starter due to Swift injury history. But only issue is Penny isn’t healthy himself. Love the vid, there’s a TON of Value of WRs this Year DJ Moore, Pittman, Pickens, Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk
Aloha brother Wow. Excellent points. Love the push-back against people who over-emphasize WR and de-emphasize RBs. Y’all do great statistic work that is obviously your own work and not just regurgitating the same stats so many others use. Keep up the great work. 🤙
I agree most with the last thing you said. You have to be fluid. If a gem falls to you then you have to pivot in your strategy. I totally agree that you have presented great stats as to why RB early is better. My only counter is league dependent setup/scoring. I’ve mentioned in comments on other videos that my league is very unique and in the last 6 years my best years have been WR heavy. But that also can be some knowledge with a bit of luck to grab the exact right guys. I will admit though that you have me really considering a heavy RB early strategy this year.
Puka Nacua might be a sleeper pick this year. He’s kind of like a deebo Samuel when it comes to his rushing ability as a WR amassing over 300 yards and about 5 touchdowns his last year in college while also ranking 17th I believe in contested catch rate. He’s super efficient and having him as your last draft pick make so much sense to me. Other than cooper kupp, lots of targets go to higbee who truthfully, doesn’t do much with them after the catch. I think Puca has a real shot at grabbing some of those targets and making some really big plays on the long ball. #diamond
My pick would be Mr. Alex Maddison 😊 I remember always stashing him bc Dalvin would always get injured and literally everytime he was injured Maddison went off. He even went on for 3 straight games one time getting so much points. I am not worried about his consistency to handle RB1 duties. #Diamond
I almost always draft one RB and one WR in the first two rounds. I might do the Hero RB strategy this year, but I love what you've been showing about the importance of early running backs. I've almost always taken 2 or 3 RBS in the first 4 rounds. I see James Cook as a diamond this year and I think Jacobs is going to bust, at least according to his ADP.
#Dimond Fantasy Headliners content! With teams having to contend with JJ and the short passing game from Cousins to Hockenson/KJ. J. Addison could be in line for a great rookie campaign. Hard to overlook JJ but Thielen still got his and Addison is the younger newer toy in what's looking like a more pass happy offense then the balanced ones of the past.
RBs early and often has been my strategy for almost 20 years and I've won more leagues than I can count. The RB position is the most important in fantasy football and i don't think that will ever change.
I think you can win with either strategy. I tend to WR heavy the last few years and it has given me 3 championships. If you go RB heavy with the right guys, you can definitely gain an upper hand
@danielpenrodii2389 same thing was said about Lamar Jackson...Josh Allen had critics his first couple seasons. The inability to believe Fields will take steps forward will continue to keep Moore ADP down. I'm all for it. 👍
Samaje Perine as a backup breakout on a bounce back team. Currently RB 36 and I think he can finish inside the top 20. Sean Payton used a backfield committee in New Orleans and there's no way Denver can be worse than last year. Samaje will get the goal line touches in Denver and may have some spike weeks. Great value in the 9th / 10th round.
Usually go RB heavy and it pretty much always works out. Last year I went 3 RBs til my first WR and still ended up with Cooper, Olave, and lockett. All in on the late #diamonds like Olave last year
I draft RB, RB,WR. I haven’t won since I started 4 years ago. 3rd place finish first 3 years. 2022 lost 1st round of playoffs in both 16 fantasy football team Let’s get a win this year Headliner Nation. Thank you for all you guys do
I think Elijah Moore fits the criteria listed in this video as well. So far in OTA’s and training camp he’s been heavily involved in the offense which is going to become more pass heavy with year 2 of Watson. Don’t sleep on him!
I thought of changing up my strategy and going WR/WR/QB this year, but I love the breakdown and I will definitely do my normal 2 RB strat, but avoid Jonathan Taylor this year.
I drafted JT, Javonte, JK Dobbins and Hollywood last year. Nine trades and thirty-nine waiver wire moves later I won my league. Roschon this year as my diamond.
Had the first pick in a draft on Friday and went zero rb to see what happened pretty happy with it. We have a 3wr league and don’t have to play a te but can use one in your flex. Took Jefferson number 1 overall then took st.brown and garret Wilson with my 2nd and 3rd pick. Still was able to get Joe Mixon and Aaron jones with my 4th and 5th and got herbert as my qb in the 6th. Feel pretty good about it.
I agree that 2rbs in the first 3 rounds is best. This year I’m finding however if I’m sitting at 1.06-1.08 I have been able to start drafts grabbing kelce and AJB with the first 2 picks… undoubted my rbs suffer but I’m curious as to what you think about opening with this?
Love drafting my teams balanced with a strong rb in round 1 and coming back with a wr1 in rd 2....id love to get Bijan Robinson this year...hes gonna ball out
@@TheFantasyHeadliners completely fair, I just know Damien Harris is a beast in a lot of statistical categories. Maybe that will help him see the field more. In such a high powered offense I think he has a shot at bouncing back.
2022 Joe Mixon owner here. Just need to say that he really did not feel like the RB12 last year and should have an honorary spot on this list. He had that one game where he got like 55 fantasy points and that completely inflated his overall ranking. He had a couple of decent games, but he felt far from a first round pick. My second round pick was Kamara and you can probably already tell I came in dead last lol.
I think that Zach Charbonnet will be a big-time rook at RB. I like your pick of Alec Pierce as a sleeper at WR. Anthony Richardson has a pretty deep ball, and Pierce will get chances with Pittman, Downs, and Woods getting looks underneath.
I’m going 2RB’s and 2 WR’s in the first 4 rounds in some leagues. I have the ability to start 4 WR’s in a full PPR league so I tend to go WR heavy. I’ve had success going hero RB as well, plenty of RB’s I’ve been able to get in rounds 5-7. Just have to know your league mates. Leaning hero RB again this year, able to get guys like White/Montgomery/Coom/Herbert in the middle rounds after taking WR with 3 out of my first 4 picks.
I've been on the JK Dobbins train thinking he bounces back this year but I also think Isiah Pacheco breaks out more this year and is being under valued
Marvin Mims, Puka Nacua, Tank Dell. Mims because of Hamler being cut and Patrick as we know is out again for the year. His college profile deployed of how much of a deep air yards threat he was. He reminds me of Olave coming into last yr. Puka because these rams aren't going to be competitive and outside Kupp and maybe Jefferson this team will have to use Puka. He's gotten rave reviews from Kupp and other teammates right off the bat and his play style reminds me of Robert Woods. Dell already showcased in college what he can do. He led the nation in receiving yards on a Houston team that was surely talented. Now as a Texan this smells like a rebuilding first yr for the team, CJ loved him so much that the team listened to him when he said to draft him.
Team RB all the way! If more people r believing the "rb bust more frequently" and draft more wrs then i'm gonna just take advantage and draft some stud rbs then i won't be the one who is scrambling every week to pick up a rb off waivers. Great video as always, Kyle!!!
I’m looking for S Perine to have a huge breakout year, under Payton he was sought for and should play the Kamara role if not a larger role if J Williams isn’t up to speed like I think he’ll b.
#Diamond Romeo Doubs potentially taking over that WR1 spot in GB. Watson was great, and I want to see him thrive, but if an injury happens Doubs was fantastic for a rookie as well.
i agree with the running back over wide receiver concept but how do you factor in travis kelce...i usually try to get him in the first round counting him as somewhat of a wide receiver 1 and then go running back running back whats your thoughts on that scenario?
I have the 2nd pick this year in my 10 man league and i dont know if i can pass up on JJ. If i grab him ill be looking for stevenson and aaron jones in the 2nd and 3rd. I would love for fournette to land on a decent team so i could stash him on the bench.
I think you have Nick Collins who's gonna be a big jumper. I have my eye on DJ Moore because he's due for a good year. Might not be top 12 or anything but he's due for some good karma. Thanks for all of this Kyle!!!
#bust Cam Akers for obvious reasons #diamond DJ Moore I love what adding AJ brown did for Jalen Hurts and I’m predicting Fields will finally make that jump
#Diamond I’d say Courtland Sutton. 3rd round luck last year in a badly coached team. This dude is currently being drafted rounds later in a projected better offense this year
You make a lot of good points and I have seen people load up on receivers like you say and just flat fail. Its about balance because your team can only field a balance...Its good know where the drop off is in talent for each player position. As for busts a lot of those come with team chemistry being off or the injury that I am usually gritting my teeth over. So I cant really say as who I think will be a bust....but I can tell you I already drafted a team with just one quarterback to get a bunch of running back/ wide receiver depth. It was Joe Burrow and he's already hurt in practice. Welcome Brock Purdy to my team lol. A few sneaky Diamonds that I see you mentioned. Gabe Davis for wide receiver. If he is going to be healthy he is going to do damage. Then coming on mid season I think Chase Brown will sneak in there at running back. The one you may have missed is up in the air until we find out who Pickett is and that would be Calvin Austin.
Im pretty sure I’ll be going RB RB WR WR this season to start my draft. I just can’t seem to have luck with the late pick RB’s. It’s going to be interesting though.
You’ve probably made a video of this, but is there statistics showing if you should take qb or tight end early? Because I tend to take them late always in my league, 3 2nd place finsishes ina row and won 4 years ago. I would love a video explaining the “science” of this
Always been an "RB early and often" kinda guy. I'm trying a lil different approach this year...4-5 WR's in the first 7-8 rounds and usually only 1RB in the first 3.
@@TheFantasyHeadliners it isn't a comfortable feeling. It's an acquired taste for sure. Last year's best ball efforts were nearly a total loss, thanks in large part to a few early draft picks losing time to injury along with a misguided affinity for the Denver offense. I'm not exclusively abandoning a robust RB strategy. I'm just mingling some hyper fragile and zero RB rosters into my tournament portfolio.
Easiest #bust prediction has to be Breece Hall. Guy is going way too high for a guy coming off a major injury that almost always results in hammy issues. As for a #diamond pick, guy won't Finish inside the top 36 in all likelihood, but Jayden Reed for GB is going WR76 and I think it's plausible he finishes inside the top 50 at the position, and with an ADP of 174.4, you aren't risking a whole lot for a 14th round pick.
You’re not wrong for most years but it seems this year that their is a lot of value at RB throughout the draft while the WR’s don’t seem as strong in the middle to late rounds. Penny, swift, Damien Harris, James cook (meh) Montgomery, Herbert, broncos backfield how ever that shakes out, Kamara after suspension, Gibson and more are all 6-10 round options. Aaron Jones, Miles sanders, Joe mixon, Gibbs, and even guys I’m not super high on like Connor, Akers, Najee are all 3-6 round options.
Wouldn’t surprise me to see Tannehill take advantage of single coverage on Hopkins. Soak up 2 or 3 mid passes then hit over the top and watch why he is still called Nuke. He plays every game he breaks 110 receptions. Seriously don’t miss out on his value. Henry can still get all of his or more and at the same time Hopkins hits double digits tds. Hopkins is a different beast. And how he plays the position if he does lose a step this year very slim to none impact.
I'm so sick of Zero RB. I've always just used logic in my draft that there are only 10-12 super safe RB's vs 20-25 super safe WR's. I'm with you on almost all RB's that have busted are due to injuries. #Diamond = Tyler Lockett
Last year I had pick 3 and was planning on going RB heavy... Didn't make it to my computer in time and was auto picked kupp... I was going eckler... Might be the first person in the world who was upset that I had kupp lmao... But then I lucked out and got Tyreek Hill... Was able to snag Aaron Jones and Josh Jacob's as my rbs... Needless to say I did very well (and won most points which came with a monetary reward!)
I know Terry has a new qb, but I think he can be a #diamond with a safe floor each week. He's deff a target for my wr 2 maybe wr 1 if I can snag other one of these diamond candidates.
RBs become valuable and available during the season... it's hard to predict that on D-Day. It's easier to draft a sleeper WR late in the draft, as you say. RBs are better for the waiver wire.

Yes, we have done videos on this and the data shows waiting on QB statistically gives you a better shot at maximizing points
Hey guys. Does underdog fantasy not work in Michigan?
#diamond Christian Kirk/Calvin Ridley. Lawrence is going to be throwing more hot air than a politician!
Just did a video with Kirk as a must have the other day
Kyle great job they😊
I always draft RB in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round. Every year 👍
Always been an "RB early and often" kinda guy. I'm trying a lil different approach this year...4-5 WR's in the first 7-8 rounds and usually only 1RB in the first 3.
That would terrify me
@@TheFantasyHeadliners it isn't a comfortable feeling.

Aaron Jones, Miles sanders, Joe mixon, Gibbs, and even guys I’m not super high on like Connor, Akers, Najee are all 3-6 round options.
i drafted Rachaad White last year and im still high on him so he's my #diamond
#Diamond DJ Moore i think he can finish as wr 12 or higher as always another awesome video
What WR or RB round 1, round 2 take the other, round 3 or round 4 take a running QB then get another RB and WR
#diamond. Chris olave with derick carr coming into the mix.
Nice!
I may be bias as a titans fan but I think DeAndre Hopkins will be a fringe top 10 wr this year, im drafting him every chance I get #Diamond
I normally want to go rb heavy early but this year there just arent rbs i trust to take at the top of the draft.
I think Henry in the late 2nd round would be a Diamond! There's some great RB'S going in later rounds now
I can't argue with anything you said lol. Think maybe perine has an impact in his new offense...
Cortland Sutton and those Broncos players could be some real Diamonds. I'm really aiming to get Perine this season. #Diamond
