Of course, what this video doesn't capture is how hot it was in that room, how ear-splittingly loud the electric shocks were, and how hard it was to stand up straight while laughing at Adam's super cool dance moves. :D
It actually starts at about 1:45, for those who don't feel like sitting through a minute and a half of "Hi we're Arc Attack. He's Adam Savage. We're Arc Attack, with Adam Savage. This is Arc Attack."
SirNinjaBiscuit you almost every time use electricity to power your speakers anyway. It's all a sort of AC power. Even in your small headphones. So Ehh yeah nothing new my man
I loved their performance in Roswell new mexico. They were on their way to a Vegas when they stopped in Roswell for our annual UFO festival and preformed in the mall!!!!!
rusurazvan AC is Alternating Current, which constantly changes polarity, meaning no positive and negative poles. DC is direct current, which has positive and negative poles and it stays lie that.
Well, id say that AC was invented and DC was discovered, because DC is a naturally occuring thing while AC relies on man-made equipment. But it was not Edison that discovered DC and neither was it Tesla that invented AC, but they both refined and improved vastly upon their respective fields.
Dregel If not Tesla, who? Also, if you want to be technical about it, the ancient Greeks discovered DC when they discovered electricity - they just didn't know what to do with it...also they thought it was a property of a specific moss(hence the name).
Criomorph When Michael Faraday discovered magnetic induction he had built a simple alternator that generated AC, and heaps of other people experimented with alternators long before Tesla, and these are well known facts that often get overlooked in favor of sensationalizing Nikola Tesla. Its more interesting to portray him as the man that single-handedly invented AC then as the man that made AC extremely useful, and therefore the truth often get the backseat when people talk about Tesla.
It wouldn't matter. It's a faraday cage. The first thing I did when I was in the ArcAttack faraday cage was touch the side. You can't feel anything, although the ozone smell is pretty strong.
Yeah... apparently, the way electricity works, is that it only travels the outside of such cages. Which is how airplanes have been struck but not destroyed, the guys who work on high-tension wires (wearing these metal armor-like suits) survive, and, well, you are safe in your car in a t-storm, even if you touch a metal part. And during a lightning and electricity demonstration with more powerful Tesla coils at the Boston MOS (and those coils are huge!), he touched the cage without getting hurt.
It might be very hot, but he wouldn't get shocked. The lightning would always go to the ground through the path of least resistance, which is the cage.
Yesterday, I collaborated with ArcAttack to control these musical tesla coils with my arms using a kinect camera. Check the video out on my page and leave some feedback!
Not hard. There's another video on YT that showed a homemade tesla coil that was hooked up to an mp3 player. Plus, they actually played that live. Watch the ArcAttack Imperial March theme. They forgot to turn on the coils and you could still hear them playing in the background.
The humor of a song by AC/DC being played with electricity.
Exactly
Lol
I can't help but feel they missed a trick by not doing Thunderstruck
Song begins at 1:46 if you don't want to watch the pre-bit. Or whatever.
Thanks!!
Only Adam Savage could dance like that in a Faraday cage and not look like a total goober.
I just love how Adam is enjoying every single moment of this. Brings a smile on my face.
A use for Tesla Coils Nikola Tesla himself would approve of.
Carter Kinoy I could almost picture him looking at it weirdly for a second or two, then nodding and saying, "Huh, never though of that."
SabreXio That is how I would imagine it.
Dude he will geek out then miss the hole thing but he would say "What happen to my power system with the tasla to power buildens wireless???"
This is one of the best things I have ever seen. And I've seen Darth Vader riding a unicycle playing the bagpipes.
I love Adam savage such a cool guy :3 I love mythbusters everything and this acdc song done by Tesla with Adam dancing in a box is such funny :D
Ride the Lightning would be amazing on this!
Playing AC/DC on Tesla coils is beautifully poetic
AC/DC...how apropos. I like it.
This is one of the greatest videos I've ever watched ...
Love how much Adam gets into it! XD
Say science is boring now, I dare you, I double dare you
Wouldn't thunderstruck have been more fitting?
The tetris is the background just makes this all the better :D.
Saw them live at proctors. Coolest thing ever! Love the robot!

Adam Savage, 'I never felt so invigorated after getting charged up by a Tesla coil, and showing off my air guitar and dancing skills'.
Using electricity to play AC/DC? Thats it, Life is officially awesome
SirNinjaBiscuit you almost every time use electricity to power your speakers anyway. It's all a sort of AC power. Even in your small headphones. So Ehh yeah nothing new my man
somebody needs to do thunderstruck like this
I loved these guys. I saw them live in our mall. they went out of their way to go to Roswell NM for our UFO festival on their way to Vegas for AGT
I loved their performance in Roswell new mexico. They were on their way to a Vegas when they stopped in Roswell for our annual UFO festival and preformed in the mall!!!!!

The image of Darth Vader riding a unicycle playing the bagpipes is beautiful.
Yet again, props to Monsieur Savage
This is so awesome there are no words
never thought I'd see Adam savage cage dancing
I couldnt stop laughing at Adam's dancing lmao, watching the mythbusters so much and just knowing his character and such its even funnier hahaha
FARK I wished AC/DC would have used something like this in their show it would have been BRILLIANT !!
Is this song by ac or dc?
jgwarp AC and DC are different electrical currents. It was a joke.
rusurazvan AC is Alternating Current, which constantly changes polarity, meaning no positive and negative poles. DC is direct current, which has positive and negative poles and it stays lie that.
jgwarp Wow! You must have been born and raised in a laboratory with no human interaction.
Shannon Morris Lawson both?
Shannon Morris Lawson the fact that I laughed as hard as I did proves that I have no life
Haha this is funny because Tesla invented AC and Edison invented DC.. XD
XD Didn't think of that... lol
Well they didn't "invent" them, but in a way they did.
Well, id say that AC was invented and DC was discovered, because DC is a naturally occuring thing while AC relies on man-made equipment.

Adam dances like the drunk uncle at every family BBQ. And I’m not just saying that because I wish he was my uncle.
Monday's motivational music
;-)
"Don't worry Marie. They're just electrons!"
It wouldn't matter. It's a faraday cage. The first thing I did when I was in the ArcAttack faraday cage was touch the side. You can't feel anything, although the ozone smell is pretty strong.
Saw these guys at the the gallo center
I added this to my favorites before i even started the video.
This is what I'm doing in 10 years. ARC ATTACK!!!!!!
HOW DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 505 LIKES!!!???
Yeah... apparently, the way electricity works, is that it only travels the outside of such cages. This is real electro music
It might be very hot, but he wouldn't get shocked. The lightning would always go to the ground through the path of least resistance, which is the cage.
well this gives new meanings to the term high voltage sound system
Esse cara é um mito!
adam being himself as usual
1:29 for the music to start
arc attack is the coolest band ever
You go black, you never go back. :3
Adam getting down in there.
Nerdar is flashing, send the heat seeking missles
Finally, electronica I can listen to. :P
One of my fears is that I'd be in the cage messing around then lose my balace and fall back against the cage...
Lightning, Use this as an example on how you should sound.
love this guy
A song that needs this: God of Thunder
OMG ADAM IS SUCH A DORK HAHAHA sooo cute ^_^
Alert the media and the internet, the final boss of the internet has been found..
this is awesome
If Tesla were alive, he would let them pet his mustache.
Nikola Tesla is spinning in his grave going "WTF"
It started when I read 'Adam Savage'.
That was... well... savage
Começa em 1:47
Would this be dangerous if he touched the metal? Just curious, sorry if it's a stupid question.
This at maker fair right
Those moves man. He's got some. LOL I love white guy nerd dances. NERDS RULE!
Tesla coils: The new pyrotechnics.
Wheres the Dance Gurls???
A coil that size in cw would be impressive...
Yesterday, I collaborated with ArcAttack to control these musical tesla coils with my arms using a kinect camera. Check the video out on my page and leave some feedback!
Adam Savage from Mythbusters
you should see when he does this with the doctor who theme
Did someone else notice the tetris screen on the back?
They came to my school yesterday... they brought the robot.
It you want to skip all the talking go to 1:47
I wonder how hard it would be to run output from an electric guitar through a tesla coil and play it live.
You could use a midi keyboard and code it. MIT students did it.
Not hard. There's another video on YT that showed a homemade tesla coil that was hooked up to an mp3 player.
Plus, they actually played that live. Watch the ArcAttack Imperial March theme. They forgot to turn on the coils and you could still hear them playing in the background.
They could have gone with "Shoot to Thrill" or "Thunderstruck" but no, instead they went with "Back in Black".
To be fair, Adam was wearing black clothes.
Oh man! Now I want to buy a pair of tesla coils! Fuck buying a personal watercraft, I want tesla coils!
so ... I want to make one
they're playing tetris in the background!
Anyone else notice how that guy dressed like Brian Johnson
because Brazil does not have this
Damn right son!
reminds me from Red Alert 2
We need to get jamie and kari in there, grant's already done it.
Mmmmmhmm I love the smell of some O3 in the morning.

So this is dividing by 0 I like it
So much reminds me of elemental shaman chain lightning :p
