The whole environment looks cozy. The food looks so good. I love Sienfeld, lol. But, nine dollars a beer in that swanky hotel. A six pack would cost 54 dollars! LOL. I liked the smaller dive bar with more reasonable prices 😊

I used to live in the East Village in the 80s, my favorite place was Vasic Hall, but we just called it 7B, because it was the recorder of seventh Street and Avenue B. We used to pay $6 for A beer, that was the place most of us lounge lizards would hang out. Until about 3:30 AM and then we would go down to an after hours bar called “Save the Robots.“ it was mainly in the basement and fire trap If ever there was one. We would stagger out of there about seven or eight and then go to work

The rooftop bar do you need to pay to get in or is there a dress code?

EV born and raised here. I find myself commenting on several of your NYC videos. It's funny to me because when I was a little kid it was just as much of a nightlife neighborhood, but it was a lot more dangerous. There were lots of hardcore punk rockers and heroin addicts. Record stores EVERYWHERE til the mid-late 2000s when they all started closing up shop. People got shanked all the time. Sometimes people wax nostalgic for that, but I'm happy it's a lot less dangerous. If I may make a few reccomendations, go further East and check out Avenue A! On 3rd and Avenue A is the very first 2 Boots Pizza, which has become quite a local chain. The best Eastern European diner in Manhattan is Odessa on 8th and A, ad it's open all night on the weekends. Finally, I'd recommend the Double Down Saloon on A and 2nd for some older fashioned dirty punk rock goodness.
If Punk Rock isn't your thing, the DD Saloon is across the street from The Library.
The Library is, of course, another bar.
Anyway, loving the videos! Continue enjoying my hometown!

Thanks Cyrus, i'm going to look into Odessa.

I used to live in the East Village back in 1993. It always had great Eastern European food. If you want to experience the NYC of the '90s, move to Portland, OR. It's a lot cheaper here, and really cool.

...wow thanks for the heads up! I lived in the Village in the early 80's. 5 floor walkup railroad flat at MacDougal and Bleecker with tub in the kitchen and toilet in the hall, was $825 in 1983 😂
Would be nice to visit the Village of old (or a reasonable facsimile thereof haha)

$2 for a beer in Manhattan? Hard to believe. The most expensive I've ever had was in a comedy club on UES. $11 a bottle (plus tax and tip). So even that $9 one doesn't seem too steep.

Nice! Good to see the “little” places in Manhattan where normal people live and socialize. We lived in the area years ago and had a fun time rediscovering Chinatown/Little Italy - which apparently had moved (!) since we ran there in the early 1980s. So different yet so much the same as always, and always with the emphasis on what is cool.

    Check this out...
"New York City's most suburban borough, Staten Island, is also its richest, with a median household income of $70,295."
This is nuts, because in Portland, OR, the current household income is also around $70k. Yet the rent here is closer to $1,350 for a 1BR/1BA. That's why I tell my NYC friends to move to the Pacific Northwest. It's really green and beautiful here, and almost no mosquitoes. In the summer, you can swim on the coast, then ski in the mountains, all in the same day. The food scene is nothing to sneeze at. Oh, lots of NYU alumni in Portland, since here, they can actually afford to enjoy life, and still make rent and student loan payments.

I love bars. This is a great video for bars. I actually didn't know how exactly to measure if it's a dive bar. I could use one, because I'm having my usual high stress day, where I feel like I'm shooting to the top, wondering if I'm Jackson Maine. What the heck!? My hunch is Acid Burn only shows up one time as a non-blonde in the movie Hackers because it, like Jonny Lee Miller, is totally European and it just seems American. Otherwise, it's always a blonde, and the real Zero Cool is more often than not something other than European: my feeling is the king of the world, and it ironically matches the trade baseball cap for crown lyric. But I'm not making any claims! I'm just trying to figure this out. I have a song and the beginnings of a video. Maybe someone can help me (these days, that's perhaps a subject worthy of people laughing.)

Jay Orazi might even be higher because my friend has an apartment nearby but it’s considered more of the east village and her studio is $2200 smh so insane. This is why so many stores in the area are closing so much. The retail space is too high as well as apartment rentals. I’ve came across coworkers who pay $1800 for a room, and have to share apartments. I’ve heard that some are rent control apartments and some are rent stable but it’s hard to come by. So you saying $3,000 isn’t far fetched at all.
