This was nothing like a Friday night pub chat. It was a normal Wrap panel discussion, but with the guests holding a pint. This is the standard format of Neil expressing a precise opinion about a very specific point to one person, and the one person always agree with him. Very rarely does anyone else disagree, or interrupt, or even add in a comment- which always happens in a real pub discussion about football. From the tone of voice you'd think they were discussing funeral arrangements rather than a shared passion for a sport. I'm not slagging them off as guests- they've all got interesting or entertaining things to say I'm sure. But this format does nobody any favours. They're all good lads, and I bet the conversation they had before the show was worth listening in on - and probably the one afterwards too. But the conversation they had when the camera started rolling and Neil took over was just a bit boring. They've got good guests, and Neil's a good presenter, I just feel the shows would be better if the discussion was a bit more like a normal pub conversation - at least in these Friday night shows.

And mostly because I respect their ethos and their support for the city. And I made the comment because I want them to improve and be the best channel again, and there is nowhere else but here for viewers to give feedback.

Phil Blundell - your observations on Diaz in the 9 are spot on. Where many of us fawn over the times it has worked and enjoyed the goals scored by him and the team with him there, you're taking it beyond that and seeing where it has not worked, where it worked to a limited level or where it might have worked but also where anything would have worked (Spurs and Hammers). I agree, it should be an option that is retired by the coach. Obviously methods/tactics (like people) can come out of retirement, but Arne does not need to be so reliant on one trick/tactic. Which is something that I feel maybe Ljinders and Klopp fell into too often too. Arne should maybe create a few different (or even quite a few) planed options for our attacking players and if they're well drilled in all of them and players can switch between one to another (without the need for substitutions) then it could be changed during the first halves of games, if it is apparent that the reds aren't having luck with plan A. I'm barely 8 mins in and I've written this, but it is a question that maybe Mo could ask in a future press conference, or if anyone at the Wrap gets an opportunity with Arne in the summer, it'd be great to have an appreciation of Arne's thinking on these things. Obviously, what he publicly comes out with (or is prepared to reveal) might well be different to what he considers - sometimes I think Jürgen's heart on sleeve approach sometimes led to his downfall, but obviously he also could spring a good few surprises against what he probably considered the stronger tacticians he came up against. The longer this season progresses it is becoming apparent why Arne was their choice. Yes a few consecutive league draws is not brilliant, but better to draw than to lose and if that's the biggest dip in form all season then wowsers, what could happen over his whole tenure? He clearly learns lessons from everything that happens. What a coach!
The fact that these lot are trying to spin dropping points again as some sort of positive just because we turned up in the 2nd half is an accurate reflection of a portion of the fanbase that just don’t have that ruthless winning mentality. Something that matches those stingy owners
