This is actually Onewe's first MV with a storyline. Most of their MVs are just performances in a single location which a lot of fans have been getting tired of, but I think it's a great testament to their music and ability to perform that they can have entertaining and engaging videos without relying on a story to keep viewers watching. Thank you for taking the time to check out Onewe!
How could anyone get tired of it? I love the single location MV's. Just cus they don't have a story does not mean they are not good. Onewe does not need a story...their emotion, lyrics and music paints the story in the imagination.
I disagree to some level; I mean Onewe under their previous name have MVs I think that express simple storylines similar to this without being overtly flashy but rather this is their first song under Onewe that is suited to explore a more drawn out MV. Parting only has that powerful, hard hitting emotional drive because the MV uses lighting and stagnant locations to drive the message of the world falling apart. Regulus could have had a story pieced but perhaps at the cost of losing the message of the song, similar to Book of Memories. And then you having songs like Star or Rain to Be that I don’t think would easily fit in an overarching storyline. Contrast to Universe_ that uses a storyline to push its connection that the members (and extensions we have) to highlight the message of the song, not hinder it. I also think it’s a step in understanding Onewe is likely gaining more of a budget which should be account for, starting to be pushed with Rain to Be. Rbw likely has to ration funds for MVs and Onewe just isn’t necessarily a huge monetary aspect for them similar to most bands in the idol industry which is why single set locations are easier using the remaining budget to green screen in effect in post. Onewe I think is standardly confident in their songs and direction of MVs and while some people might prefer storylines I think too much thought needs to go into just adding it in to make it work.
Thank you for reacting to Onewe! They are a band, so they always have the instruments in their MVs. Most of their MVs are actually simpler, mostly just focusing on showing the members playing their instruments and performing. I'd be curious what you think of their MV for Rain To Be as well, though, and maybe A Book in Memory!
Just so you know, it is pronounced One-we. They are a literal brother group to One-us. They don't usually have story telling in their MVs, but playing the instruments and creating beautiful pictures is what you will see more often than not. Very talented musicians. Sorry, but I am pretty sure they are actors and not family in the MV. I think the story relates to all different loves of our lives (grandma, mom, girlfriend, friend, pet, etc)
Hello, thank you for reaction to ONEWE all of their music videos are pretty aesthetically pleasing to watch. To understand the MV more everyone of the members has their own universe or more accurately the one thing/person/animal they center their world or universe around. from oldest to youngest Yonghoon the first vocalist who starts the song and his universe centers around his lover Harin the drummer and his universe centers around his grandma kanghyun the guitar player and his universe centers around his friendship or best friend Dongmyeong the keyboard player and his universe centers around his dog CyA the bassist and also the rapper but he only play the base in this song his universe centers around his mother if you wanna check out more of their music videos or song some of my fav recommendations: - A book in memory - Parting - Veronica - reminisce about all - regulus
Actually they are brother band group of ONEUS, which you're already familiar with, so it's called One-We. One member from ONEUS is real twins with the keyboard in ONEWE. They also had a cooperate song called 'STAY' recently, but shot by different video teams as this one. It would be nice if you can also react to 'STAY', thank you~
Thanks for checking out ONEWE!! I think part of the brilliance of the MV is that everyone who watches it gets an emotional reaction, even if they interpret the storyline a bit differently. Like others have said, they did a good job of showing different figures in your life which you love, so I think this helps many people connect to the song at the start of the MV. I can confirm that all of the figures playing opposite of the members where actors (even the dog lol), however in the behind the scenes you see the band members and the actors bond while shooting and be super adorable with each other. (The mother actor said that she has only girls so she was excited to have a son now 😭😭) **My personal MV interpretation is below, read if you so desire** For me though, the MV storyline connects to their album title, Voyager. This MV is the start of a 'voyage', which perhaps for the band is their career in music, but it can represent any change or transition that happens in life. We start 'at home' with the members being with a loved one, BUT they are not shown playing as whole band yet. Notice also how all of the lyrics describe physical closeness, "I wrap my arms around you when your head is down', and how the lyrics imply being together with a person. Now we have the first time the band is together is them getting in the car and driving, which is a good metaphor of going on a journey, or going away from home. The guitarist, Kanghyun, is carrying the rocket ship filled with memories from home with them. Now we see them play together as a band, and they are in the dark, desert environment. It is easy to imagine they are on a space station on another planet. The change in place brings a change in the lyrics. Instead of being physically close, we are now physically distant, like talking from a star. The lyrics question if the separation also bring a change in feelings, and if they still are a part of that person's 'universe' even if they are not physically there. We see the rocketship of memories being buried, but it is buried in the new place they are in, like they are preserving the memories deep within themselves. The guitarist pauses for a moment, taking in the enormity of the change which has happened. We now reach the guitar solo and running scene. The guitar solo is like a longing cry into space, reaching out to the star in the lyrics. Right after this we have the running scene. The phrase that came to my mind when seeing this scene is "I will always be with you in spirit". The band members are running to their futures in the dark, showing how the future is unknown, but their loved ones are running right beside them, perhaps not physically with them but their love and feelings have never abandoned them. There is joy to be found in this, and the lyrics affirm that even far away they will give their loved one everything, their universe. In summary, for me the MV beautifully shows changes or transitions which happen in life and can take us physically away from our loved ones (like a COVID quarantine). Those changes bring anxiety since they can be a step into the unknown, but the song ends in powerful love. Where no matter what how far you are physically from a person, they are with you in your heart, and they can still be your universe. It is a poetic triumph of a song and an MV. If someone has read this far, thank you, I hope you could agree with some of what I said. 🤗
Thank you for the reaction! If you can, please do react to more of ONEWE's music and music videos. Also -- they are a band, so it's only natural for them to have instruments in the MV :)
They are not really new. Four of them met in middle school and formed a band. They recruited the older vocalist while playing as a session band at a music competition. They were known as Mas0094 but redebuted as Onewe after signing with a contract with RBW. 1 We. All of Onewe’s videography focuses on the music.
That was great! Very interesting to see the analysis from a videographer's perspective, I enjoyed it a lot! i see my fellow weves have told you everything i'd wanted to note, so I'll just join in and say that this MV also leaves me with a feeling of happiness, definitely my favourite Onewe MV by far! They changed video production studios for this one from their usual, Zany brothers, to Novv and it shows. The song and the MV go together so well, making the song's emotional impact even greater! Yonghoon (he's the main vocalist with the acoustic guitar) did an amazing job writing it~ I feel like their Zany MVs won't be of as much interest to you from a videographer's point of view, perhaps with the exception of Rain to be for the interesting gimmick used (although since you seem to notice unsync issues I think you may be bothered by a couple scenes, I know i did), but their STAR Mv directed by Sunnyvisual is very much worth a watch! Not a story MV but a beautifully shot one in my opinion. In a way, it feels on an opposite side to this Universe_ MV, so I'd find it very interesting to see you react to and analyse that one! ^^ Hope you have a nice day and thanks again for the nice video~

The mv is about “who is your universe?” It’s about different kinds of loves.
Mother, friend, lover, grandparent, pet.

And let's no forget AuRoRa. That song and MV just hit different

They are actually a band, real band who can produce music themselves. Not a normal K-pop group or just play instruments
Hi! You need to listen to the full album Planet Nine : VOYAGER. i highly recommend. The group name reads like One We. Thanks for the reaction!
Sadly they were all actors, but if you become interested in watching the behind the scenes, their interactions are still very wholesome
