Eva, your first semester will teach you so much relative to what you need versus what you think you want. You’re going through a right of passage so enjoy, learn, love, be careful and don’t subscribe to the whims of the world. Remain on “the rock” upon which you have been raised and make us proud!

Hi Eva , yes trust yourself you have many years of experience already . The most important thing is to be proud of yourself and your efforts as you decide . I could have studied a bit harder , was distracted some by my desires and now I have no degree . Keep your eyes on the prize !

It looks like you are very organized, have a great time at college. Two suggestions, a small very basic tool kit(small hammer, multi bit screwdriver, pliers and adjustable wrench) and a good multi tool pocket knife. Be smart and be safe.

    • @damogranheart5521
      @damogranheart5521 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is an excellent suggestion. A multi-tool is also an excellent tool in a woman's purse or backpack.

When I went to university, I had a large whiteboard. I wrote in my class syllabus and due dates for each paper and project. Then I scheduled in time for working on each project around my class schedule, with completion set for at least 2 days before. I scheduled open spaces for extra curricular stuff. Then each Sunday, I would review it and load any updates to my calendar on my phone. That way if someone suggested doing something, I could check my calendar, and slow down the party impulse, and make good choices. I did 4 years in 2 and a half, got my A's with well produced and timely work. Got my scholarships and bursaries and still had a rocking good time!

Congrats Eva, hope you enjoy college. When my two girls went (they're 28 and 30 now) I got them a small baseball bat and they named it George. They lived on campus the 1st 2 years and then rented a house with a couple other girls the last 2 years. Thankfully they never had to get George out, but both of them felt better knowing George was around and if they need him he'd be ready. Just a though, you never know if you'll need a George, and George doesn't have to be concealed :-). There was one occasion when a drunk, male, college student showed up to their house and one of the girls asked if she need to get George, but the guy was just hammered and went to the wrong door. He left when they told him he wasn't at the right house. Also, asking if they needed to get George is a deterrent in and of itself because a guy would think there was another guy in the house and may not want a confrontation with him, even though he's not aware that George is just the name of the baseball bat 🙂.

I remember when both my daughters left for college. They lived in a dorm their first year. Two girls in a small room in what is basically a large apartment building. They loved the dining hall food. Both my girls ended up joining the same sorority and built friendships that were tremendous. They have a sisterhood and friends for life. In fact my oldest daughter got a job at a company based on a recommendation from one of her sorority sisters who graduated a year prior to her and was working at this company.

Have fun at college. You will want a hand truck to get everything to your room. I just bought one that folds down to a cart and it helped a lot. My daughter’s first year was on the seventh floor and my son and I am a trip after trip after trip. Live and learn, you will have a great time.

Remove everything from boxes. Boxes take up a ton of room. Roll up all clothes so you don’t get wrinkles and they take up less space. Us all storage bins to put stuff in before putting them in the totes. Like the bathroom trash can can be packed with bathroom items etc.

When I sent my daughter to collage in 92 (NAU) I gave her this advice that I now pass onto you. You have to do 3 things.
First, You have to work. For you that means you have to Studie. Class is your job. Second, You have to have fun. Join clubs and meet new people from all over. Get involved and grow your mind and spirt. Third, Get some sleep. It keeps the mind sharp.
If you do these things you will have a great experience that will last a lifetime. Best of luck and God bless you and keep you...

A suggestion..for your first aid kit, they make a self sticking Ace Bandage, it can be made to any length and shape, sticks to itself even in moisture. I’ve used it much, for an active person, it’s the best solution to keep bandages in place.
Just a thought Eva. Good luck in all you do, keep us posted. Take care and stay safe! God bless! ✝️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Maybe some of the others are bringing it but the first thing I thought of was trash bags and paper towels for the kitchen. The other thoughts I had for you to consider would be scotch tape, masking tape or some other type of tape. Also you might want to consider bringing a few tools. I am think like a multi tool, or at least something to fix jewelry. Maybe a multi bit screwdriver as well. Never know when you need when you could use a couple of very basic hand tools. And don't forget some sort of protection items like a flashlight and pepper spray. Hopefully not needed but better safe than sorry.

Those black Carrie bags that you said you got. For your clothes, you may want to take one of them. And pack all your blankets and everything into I think you may need or may want a set of deck playing cards. I've seen you got Uno but I mean, regular playing cards, courage also. Although you may not think you'll be cooking meals. Because you have a meal plan at the college, you'll be surprised. Especially on weekends because the items there are limited that you'll be cooking more in your little kitchen. So between the group of you? I do believe you'll need a toaster, you'll need a microwave. Possibly that may be supplied, toasters will lot. You will need lots of snack foodude whether it's rice cakes, chips, popcorn, popcorn, all that stuff. You'll possibly need a TV because there's not one likely supplied. You will have access to limited cable or satellite. I think you're well prepared with your cough and cold requirements.
You will probably need a couple more notebooks, lots of pens, and pencils. Somebody will have to take a broom to sweep The apartment and dust Pan and mop. You will probably want some type of record with speaker Bluetooth so that you can play music off your phone. I know you have a hamper, but you may want. A plastic clothes hamper I'm not sure if you're. Washer and dryer are located on each floor or just say in the basement of the building. Best of luck, what are you gonna be taken for a course when you go to college

It appears to me that it is a good thing your Mom and Dad have two pickups!! Maybe between your Jeep and the pickups you can get moved in one trip. After a month or so you will probably be bringing things home, things that looked good on paper just didn’t turn out to be needed. Something that I got my 2 grandsons was a small refrigerator. They both say that was a very useful thing to have. Best of luck in college!!

  • @71gmonet

When a lot of friends from a small town all left together to UT Austin. 1/2 of the my friends were gone after the first year. It had nothing to do with how smart they were. Some had always relied on their parents to make sure things got done. The others partied themselves out of college with their new found freedoms. College will be some of the best experiences in your life. Just always remember why you are there. Best of luck on your college adventure.
Remember to text your mom a lot because she will be very worried.
One last thing. If you ever decide to live off campus get a place at the start of the bus route. When finals happen everyone is trying to get to campus at the same time. If you are at the end of a bus route it will be full and you will be all stressed trying to get to your final exams.

When packing the vehicle, put your bedroom stuff closest to the door. When you get to where you are going, get that into your room first. That way, at the end of your first day, you can just fall into bed! I have moved altogether too many times! Order food in as you won't have time to cook and then clean up. A big trash bag in the corner of the kitchen to get rid of packing materials. Bins and packages labeled with what room they belong in. Have fun, sweetie, and take time to think things through. Congratulations Eva! I saw the same look of sadness (in your dad's latest video) when your mother mentioned you leaving for college that I see in my wife when our two daughter leave to college. Stay well!

Excellent job on the video Eva. It reminded me of the first year we moved my son into college.

The hair towels are easy to use. You'll love them. With longer hair you might have to tuck the ends before twisting it .

Nice job, you definitely have most of the essentials covered; once you settle in you will identify some things that are not that practical or useful or just not fitting into a space. That is OK, move in week is all about getting settled both in your living space and with your new student companions, so don't stress and go with the flow. Within 2 weeks, everything will be worked out and running like you want it. Since you are not that far from home, I would limit your clothes to summer and fall weights and not try to bring everything you will need for the semester.
