Switch kicks generate max lead leg power but are a tad slower because of the delay and telegraph more by their very nature (which _can_ be used to feint, however). Step kicks are more direct (lead leg doesn't move back, it only moves directly to the target), thus are a bit quicker and telegraph less but may carry a bit less power.
Maybe the point was also not to "jump" while switch? Our eyes are good tracking vertical jump, so not to telegraph if you switch your head should remain at the same level all the time. That is how it has been taught to do for me in MT, Kickboxing and San da and with the same explabation..
It was a pleasure meeting you and training with Gae last month Good luck for yr next fight and I wish you all the success you deserve Regards Carl from Australia
@jabadashudau2422 in the first one, left leg has to move back and right leg moves forward before lauching the left leg kick, which slows down the kick by 0.1 second. The second one, superbon uses left leg as anchor to move right leg forward to the front of the left leg, and kick with left leg, so your left leg doesn't need to move to the back of right leg before launching the left leg kick
Jean Charles Skarbowski taught me exactly the same skill. Except my arm is pointing the sky and then I retract my left arm in the back while my left leg is doing the opposite, give me a lil bit more energy but i m aware you cannot really do this in fight cause you need your arm/hand to cover the side or face :) No bs there I'm someone that really do fight.
The first one might be the wrong form but it looks faster. The difference, to me, being the more obvious yet subtle step in the later "correct" version.
Switching means flicking the hips if you watch swinging the hips and stepping means u don’t flick or switch ur hips u just step forward or stomp for those who don’t understand any striking at all I dumb it down for you in a nice way ofc
that is true but your kick will generate way less power and your range will be reduced when you don't take a step. but im not saying that you can't not step but what i am saying is that both of them have their ups and downs
@@maxrez609 very true. You can generate enough power to knock someone out without stepping BUT you can guarantee a knockout and possibly a beheading with the step lol
No, it's not. That is a muay thai switch kick. Anyone who trains muay thai has at some point learned kicking that way as well as stepping. Tkd guys bounce waaay more, and the head level changes dramatically.
no superborn i'm a full contact boxer "American Boxing" and i can tell you the fastest and the strongest kick is the first you did i use to made KO with it and i'm an ex Taekwondo red bet that first one is the best thank you though
Coming from karate I always wondered what the benefit of the switch jump was, just seemed to add time and effort. And is a bit of a telegraph. But maybe it plants better or works in combinations. Someone more versed in Muay Thai can maybe tell me.
You generate a lot more power with a switch kick but you are a bit slower. It's just a question of situation. When you use what. Both are important in the muay thai boxer arsenal.
The switch in itself can create multiple openings on your opponent. Lets say i just hit you with a switch kick and you blocked it right. You will now associate that switch with me firing a kick. You will instinctively check or block each time I switch. So now the second time i switch, you will expect a kick. Where as i will switch shuffle fire a jab, a cross, or shuffle then kick. The switch adds so many feints and setups that simply stepping and kicking does not have.
Both correct and great points above, and key is the fact that you can incorporate switch kicks into your arsenal whether coming from Karate, Gung Fu, whatever. Mix it up and keep 'em guessing!
The switch adds power. That power is then directed towards a better target. Notice they are both orthodox stance. A real leg roundhouse from there will likely hit they guy in the back or somewhere. The switch kick changes the target to the other side and now has the added power of a rear leg kick. It is not super telegraphic if you don't bounce when you switch. Also, it is a distance thing - you don't have to step towards the opponent. Works well if you don't have space to step or if the opponent is closing in on you.
No, the first kick is a switch kick where the front leg steps back as the rear leg comes forward. The second kick steps the rear leg forward, but keeps the front where it is. Hope that makes sense 👍
Hello, Superbon. I am your fan from China. I have been following you since the Kunlun Fight in 2015. I want to offer some advice using translation software. First, congratulations on your third victory over Malat. I hope you'll take revenge against Arazov and Tawanchai next. To combat Arazov, if he uses an orthodox stance with his left foot forward, you could use calf kicks to wear him down and deter him from frequently changing stances. If he fights in a southpaw stance with his right foot forward, side kicks or front kicks to repeatedly attack his knees could be effective. Arazov is not just a kickboxer; he's also trained in karate and taekwondo. You might consider boldly inviting a competitive karate or taekwondo expert to spar and get used to quick punches and changing kick lines. Don't let your thoughts limit you. Against Tawanchai, using Arazov's stance-switching techniques to engage in boxing might work well. Instead of focusing on finishing with kicks, when he retreats, you could use a Superman punch to pursue. Also, it seems you’ve forgotten your experiences fighting against Chinese Sanda fighters, and the leg catch and throw techniques you used in your second fight with Sitthichai, which could disrupt Tawanchai's rhythm and stamina. I hope you see my message and find it helpful. Wishing you an early victory in obtaining the ONE Championship gold belt in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
Basically this is stepping vs switching? Stepping is smoother and covers more ground. Switching is good if your opponent is closer
Even if they’re closer you can just step out. Buakaw used to do this all the time against forward moving opponents the step is just a lot more subtle.
😊p
He meant "don't JUMP while stepping the back leg forward".
Kicker went slow on tht you can rewatch closely
Edit: thanks for the 10 likes
Yea looks like stepping vs switch to me as well
Basically he kicked slow first and he kicked faster

Y aparte metió toda la cadera al girar el pie de apoyo
Different tecnhique though. 1st is a switch kick, 2nd is a step through round kick. Both have their value

😢😢 but i love the way i feel with the first one
Needed this. Thanks brothers.
Thank you bro
I figured that on my own thank you for showing me this to prove this is better!!
Those are basically two different kicks that should be used in two different situations... One is not above the other.
Agreed. Makes you more confusing for the opponent as well
Kicks are powerful enough. Faster is better in all situation.

Thanks now I see the difference. But is it really what super von meant?
@@ishyali9455 it's a yes and no! if you are good at it nobody can see your kick coming to their jaw. You can watch Buakaw switch kick

That kickboxing real 🪖
Thats Muay Thai. Not KB
잘보고 있답니다 👏 👏 👏
Switch leg is used when you want to use left and right kick continuously!
1st kick slightly similar to taek Kwondo kick... It's one the fastest kick in taek Kwondo
I actually do this kick instead of the switch kick. I learned this setup when I took Kung Fu many years ago.
It’s even faster when you don’t step at all. 🤯

Yes, correct foot position.
The step kick 🐲⚔️🪬

But this is basic muay thai leg kick technique. Is he saying it is wrong?
He doesn't suggests it to be wrong. Simply a way to deliver a faster kick, depending on the circumstances?

Just throw with front leg if you want short distance.
Which exercises for the high leg?
Please How can I come to train with you?
That’s good
Handsome and perfect body ❤❤❤
Switch is for when they are closing on you. Step is when you are closing on them. Usually.
My coach always says the same thing it didnt make sense at first but i think
Its correct jumping switch is too slow

Weren't those two different types of kicks though? First one was a switch kick
