Lyrics:
Sleep right in your eye
This is tasty food for rat and flies.
Call me angry, call me mad
Soul whispers in the deep.
The echo!
All throughout the land
reaches out to find, to find a hand.
But finds an amputated stump.
That tells the story of the lonely
and beats the rhythm of the flame.
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
Kawuphinde, kawuphinde mzala (nah nah nah nah!)
Whose songs are as truthful (as a dream)
Flows as steady as a stream
(The stream of knowledge and of pain)
The one whose thoughts begin to wane
Allow the sleepy to retire
Because their love blows out the fire
I can see your pointed finger
Your eyes binoculars
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
I'm inspired, I cannot understand hate
Whispers in the deep
Bayahleba
We are tributaries of the great river of pain (x4)
Flowing into one ocean
There is only one ocean
All our pains flow into it
But it did spill over
Spill over the waters of love
Into a great nation of love
Before we recognise that all the oceans,
all the oceans are one
Kawuphinde, kawuphinde mzala (mh mh)
Kawuphinde, kawuphinde mzala (Hey)
Kawuphinde, kawuphinde mzala (Hololo)
Hololo hololo
Ungahlebi, speak out your mind
Don't be afraid

Nana coyotes voice though...❤
It's something else I tell you.
Special voice 🎉
This best thing to happen to Mzansi. We crossed the year 1987 with this song. I was about to start high school.
This song reminds me of my old man RIP..I was 7 years old by then, now I'm 43 years old and I'm still enjoying the music of our legend.
Ray Phiri and Stimela are irrefutably most loved in my heart❤ and family! For long drives, I play Stimela
RIP Ray, your memory lives on and on😢
The supporters of Moroka Swallows Ltd in the 80s gave Noel Cousins nickname "Phinda Mzala" after this track....that time he was scoring goals as if they are going out of fashion.... October 1989 he scored a hat trick against Sundowns, Mark 'The Tiger" Anderson was in goals and on the 3rd goal he left the field in tears but Screamer Tshabalala grabbed him and put him back to goals....it was played that match in "fairly new" FNB Stadium.6/6/2024
Stimela is my band. I was so lucky in my age, I managed to see that dance from Ray Phiri. I know young heroes would have love to see the praying mentist
This will remain the South African classical music for all times.
🎉Am too young for this song but believe me this is my favourite...From Namibia
Ntate Ray Phiri😢😢😢. There are legends in every generation, these are the legends of the past era.
We dont search for old songs but we search for old memories ❤❤

Stimela wasnt music , it was a style , a revolution of black who decided to speak truth to society thru music and using jazz as the medium , it gave relief to tired sould and meaning to human endengared blacks walloping from identify crisis of being either a black patriotic or a black jazz enlighted person
