One controversial example is : A. I have been studying English for 5 years B. I have been studying English since 5 years ago. It seems that officially only A is correct but there are also some native English speakers who say that B also is correct because " 5 years ago" (not just " 5 years") is the specified time so that it can follow " since ". Once I saw that two natives were arguing about it very heatedly and neither one of them could convince the other.
