well this show was set in 2005-2010 so some of it was only beginning to get fazed out but in the show they didn't want to lose any weapons' or vehicles that would cripple the JSDF so they sent in troops with older weapons and older vehicles. If u haven't seen the show they travel through a gateway to get into this medieval world so they were afraid of the gate closing

But then some that showcase they are more match for them. Magic users and monsters/creatures that are powerful enough probably be more difficult for modern forces to deal with. But common foot soldiers not so much. I wonder how heros and adventurers who skills and magic abilities far surpass common warriors would do against modern military. Again depends on writer and how powerful fantasy characters, weapons, and creatures are. Thats just my opinion.
@@melanieboston7732The "magic is superior" POV usually is just depicting modern soldiers as having the same kind of tactics and strategies of ancient armies just with better weapons, in reality magical powers, if not unreasonably overpowered, would only stand victorious for a week of fighting or so, once we find out how they work and how to work around them, and for modern armies this is a fairly easy task with someone who's literally not trying to stop you from doing so, the fight gets comically one-sided in our favour, if you add espionage and covert operations behind enemy lines such a war would last no longer than a month: a week to try to figure out how to work around magic and three of just blasting the hell out of the fantasy side
Japan and the EU are probably the only safe places in the entire world the gate could've opened in, two relatively powerful country/confederation with pacifist intents, I'd really see Japan and the EU working together to secure the special region, after all the two ate kind of close allies
