My family has been vacationing at a tiny lake near Montello for decades- tons of smaller bass, not much else in there. Glad to see you checking out new spots!
I’ve got a new base of operations around fox lake and green lake. I’ll be checking out a lot of local lakes around there. I absolutely love trying out new water
You were correct about the method of construction it was one of those " make work" projects, done by the CCC back in the thirties, done in the name of flood control, try fishing a number 5 blue and Silver shallow running Rapala Shad Rap, along the edges of the weeds.
My families place is about a hour north and have fished it a few times, they drained it about 15 years ago to rebuild the dam and try to slow the weeds but it is a losing battle, but it actually looks like much cleaner than I remember. I remember only very small trails around the lake. SPRO actually used to hold a huge SPRO frog Only tourney on Buffalo.
I was there July 14-22, what used to be an awesome lake had been decimated by a phosphate bloom. The water looked like a gas slick, we head down to dam and all the dead fish were stacked over there. It was sad to see and had to fish Big Green Lake to get some action.
Nice looking place. Thanks for sharing the adventure! Enjoyed checking this out buddy!
Thanks!

I feel like I heard about that spro tournament before. It is a perfect lake for it, that’s for sure
Nice seeing a new spot, even if it wasn’t the best lake ever.
That part of the fun of trying new spots
