Nice.. so many beautiful churches along the way, such a wonderfully peaceful looking graveyard, live oaks galore, just as imagine in a fine cemetery. thankyou for the scenic tour
I was excited to see this video. I was disappointed that we did not see the Reformed Seminary on Clinton Blvd. It was my home growing up and there are so many memories there. Thanks for posting this side of town.
Hello I lived in Clinton and worked in Jackson for 9 years , I now live in Minnesota now for 20 years It was not that bad in Jackson back then Glad I got out of that place when I did It's colder in Minnesota But nothing like Jackson . keep the good work up
At 6:02 take a right and that took you to the Queens. Take a left there used to be Rose’s. Little farther down was an apartment complex where my mom and I lived for a bit. Then we move to some apartments off Raymond Rd across from the hospital.
Both of my grandparents, an uncle, an aunt and a few other relatives are buried in Lakewood. Have you been over in the Road of Remembrance area? My grandfather built many, many houses around Jackson. He built the home that they lived in at the corner of Road of Remembrance and Weston Avenue diagonally across from the park. I have wanted to go by and see the area. My aunt lived a couple of streets over on Segura Avenue, and my uncle live at the other end of Weston across Capitol Street. It was not one of the more affluent areas of Jackson, but was always clean. Yards were beautifully kept.
**Thanks Clay I thought it would be nice to take a little road trip with you and guess what? I didn't notice the title until we were on the streets and road which led us into Lakewoor Cemetary. My wonderful loving neighbor was laid to rest there in 2005 she was the best neighbor/friend/family we could ever have. It's been over 4-5 years since I've been out there (think about it all the time tho') and again thankful you've given me a chance to return. Another great video my friend _ keep em coming I love going back down memory lane with you and others that take these travels with you** #SaveJXN
You're right. Turning up Flag Chapel is the Queens. The Subs #2 is Wiggins Rd. I think Sub #1 is off of Lynch St west of Ellis Ave but I may be wrong about that. They were developed for the black population prior to desegregation while Queens used to be all white (not trying to be a know it all, I just was always interested in the history of Jackson). I have an uncle at Lakewood. I'm surprised it looks good still. I'm wondering if it's in the city of Clinton though. Clinton still looks nice.
Hello. The store you're asking about was a convenience store and bait shop. They also sold fireworks during the season. It was named "Cupid's". I grew up on Queen Elizabeth Lane in the late 50's - 60's, and went there frequently. A friend of mine's Dad had an agreement with Mr. Cupid, who would allow us to pick up beer for my friend's Dad. We would drive the Dad's car even though we weren't old enough to to have a driver's license. I was maybe 12-13 when we started this. Later, after getting my license, we would drive the Dad's all over Jackson. His dad, of course would be drinking beer. Mostly, we took him to the Reservoir. We also would take him to the bootlegger across the river on Old Brandon Road. I haven't though about Cupid's in years. Thanks. FYI, I loved growing up in Jackson.

There was casket handles in that pond.
My aunt used to live in the Queens neighborhood. You would take the first right after Westhaven when traveling west on Clinton Blvd.
Lived in both Jan and Clinton for 25 yrs and you've shown me places I've never seen and a lot I'm too familiar with.
