New hybrid owners are often surprised by the mpg drop in the winter. My '21 Camry goes from high 40s in the summer to mid 30s in the winter. The battery essentially stops charging at temps below 25°F.
Makes sense that the batteries would loose efficiency when its colder. The only way to offset that is to actively warm the battery up either by a battery heater or maybe engine coolant.
Good info to know in general. In those winter months you’re gonna be spending time getting the car to warm up so naturally the mileage will go down. I did a road trip to Charlotte recently and my car’s range of course got way better (from 285 to 338 when I got back and now maybe 325-327) after that with all the stop and go driving and traffic here in the Atlanta area much of the time. The mpg I got highway wise was up to 48 mpg when I saw the gauge and I did try out adaptive cruise control as well. All on normal mode, Civic Sport.
Yes the Fuel mileage ratings will drop letting it Idle, Some probably don't know this, And the colder it gets the more fuel to get to operating temps 🇺🇸👍, Just the facts.
I get 35 mpg here TX it’s starting to get cold now. In summer time I get 33 mpg because I used AC max all the time. But I drive a lot mostly highway 70% of the time. Depends how you drive jt

@@kenj.8897Nitrogen is free at Costco. I would never pay extra for it. They also have a self service pump in the parking lot by the tire center. I didn't notice any gas mileage difference between air or Nitrogen. But I noticed the tpms not fluctuating with the temperature changes on Nitrogen
Edit: realized the car in question is a turbo. The heater definitely impacts fuel economy. If I'm alone in the car I use the heated seats only and leave the HVAC off. Otherwise I set it to 70-72 and Auto and it limits the hit to my MPGs while still being comfortable.

I haven't noticed this with my Accord Hybrid. It gets around 45mpg but I don't think it has been below 25° here. Thanks
@@larryharry7221 yeah I think once we get past freezing temps the battery efficiency tanks drastically from what I’ve seen

I got rid of my 24 accord. Not 1.5t. Thanks for your advice!!
@@juanc4065what did you replace it with? Happy with it so far?
I had a 21 Accord with the 1.5t and when I only did short trips in the city I got 27-30 mpg. In the winter it dropped to 25 mpg.
