Thanks for this great demo and rundown! Honestly this seems to me easily the best value out of the '60s Standards offered now. They all have the same pickups and it seems like you could pay $300 more for a plain shiny top, $500 more for a flamed shiny top, on up the line with some supposed "AA" and "AAA" for hundreds more. All of these higher priced ones have a pickguard too, but that can't be much cost-wise and could be easily remedied if one were so inclined- I personally think they look better without it. Find a nicely flamed one of these (like the one you're playing) and honestly looks-wise it beats them all (for my taste)! One question I have is though- are you sure this is the cherry sunburst and not the bourbon burst? They look similar in a lot of pictures. Anyway, great video- thanks!
I swear, I've listened to hundreds of demos of Gibson standard line, and I just can't hear anything, soundwise, that would justify buying this guitar, when I compare it to a Harley Benton SC-550ii. Harley Benton sounds just as good, or even better. Tesla Opus 1 are amazing pickups. Maybe the build quality of the Gibson is better, but Harley Benton comes with stainless steel frets, Graphtech nut, and stays in tune like a champ.
I've got the Les Paul Sixties Standard... GLOSS. I don't want this guitar. It's smudgy looking. Mine is Ice Tea Burst. Gorgeous red mahogany on the back. Believe me! Don't get one of those. But everything else this man says it's true. Just don't pay for one of these. Get the real deal.
Just got the faded 60's about a month ago. Great deal, great guitar. 😎🎸
