  • This video clip is from the local news magazine "Eye on LA" which aired in the Los Angeles and Southern California media market in the 7:30 PM weekday time slot in the early 1980's.
Based upon the Nissan/Datsun dealership commercial in the clip, I believe that this was originally recorded around December 1984.
In this particular clip, reporters Chuck Henry and Paul Moyer appear. Henry narrates discussion about the space program and appears to interview Alan B. Sheppard, Jr. Sheppard was one of the "Original Seven" Mercury astronauts, the first American in space, commander of Apollo 14, and one of America's twelve moon walkers. Chuck Henry is seen in the flight deck of a space shuttle (presumably a mock-up flight deck of a space shuttle (presumably a shuttle simulator at Johnson Space Center). Henry currently anchors the news on KNBC-4 in Los Angeles. The video clip continues with an interview of Shuttle astronaut John Blaha and discussion of the early shuttle program.
Several commercials are left in this clip.
KABC-Talkradio AM 790 airs a 30 second clip which includes several sound clips from the morning show "Ken and Bob Company" which dominated the air waves of Los Angeles, Michael Jackson's radio talkshow, and Dr. Toni Grant.
A Sizzler $7.99 steak & shrimp commercial airs.
A Southern California Nissan dealership commercial includes the Sentra, Stanza, and the Maxima.
Lynn Redgrave appears for Weight Watchers.
A music video airs to America the Beautiful, sung by Ray Charles.
Paul Moyer appears at the end of the news magazine show. Moyer anchored the news on KNBC for decades in Los Angeles, retiring in 2009 from KNBC.
Eastern Airlines is credited with providing transportation. Eastern Airlines was a major airline in the United States, flying regional routes in the southern eastern US and serving international cities until 1991.
I've left the credit roll in the tape for future reference.

It's actually from 1983, because of the copyright tag seen on the credits of "Eye on L.A." judging by that.

A nice chunk of my L.A. television experience in my 27th year on the planet.
