    Don't listen to Intex telling you to buy a new cartridge every couple of weeks. I was in the inground pool industry for about 20 years. Cartridge filters can be cleaned using a bottle of cartridge cleaner. Or you can make your own with a solution of muriatic and water or vinegar and water and soaking it for a few hours. You should be able to get a full season or more from 1 cartridge.

      Also can just hose it straight clean no?

    • @descendantoffools9767
      @descendantoffools9767 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lesnla you can just hose it off every couple of weeks, but then every couple of months do a deep cleaning with the cleaning solution. It's like washing your clothes with just water. It will take off a lot of the surface dirt, but to get a real good clean into the fibers, you need a cleaning agent like soap.

    Thank you!! 6th year of setting it up and have never had a problem. I always raise the filter on a step ladder to save the water when changing the filter. I didn't think about it having to be grounded to release the air.

    • @sadfur8728
      @sadfur8728 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using it for an unapproved purpose of cleaning an underground pond, so getting it primed is done by pouring water in through the air purge valve opening with both hoses elevated until it's filled up, then closing the valve and quickly immersing both hoses down into the water before turning it on.
      Then it's able to get a proper prime to operate.

    I ran into one more reason your pump may not turn on. The GFCI reset plug gets wet and water can get inside of it and pump will not go on at all. I had to take my GFCI plug and disassemble it and blow compressed air inside of it. Reattach the wires and reassemble. Hit the switch and pump turned on. If screw are corroded use rubbing alcohol to clean on screws and allow time to dry before reattaching. Hope this helps someone else after first checking everything in this video these are the first steps to take. Especially the air in the system is very common.

    Or #4..your tubes are in wrong location on pump.
    The intake tubes with screens that T together go to top hose on pump.
    The one by itself with single hose goes to bottom hose on pump.Think gravity from top intake to sick water from top then blow out the bottom to the exhaust..I always use dielectric grease on my o ring seals (pure silicone grease.)
    Those O rings last about 1 season and dry rot easily.
    By next season they may look like hell when you go to reattach them.

      Hi Kim, oooh that's pretty bad! First step I would take is switch it off, lift the pump above pool level on a table or so, then open it and inspect the rubber seal. Maybe just take it out of place and put back in. It's possible that when closing it, it doesn't go in place perfectly, and then it would leak a lot but that should fix it... I hope that helps!

    Hello . Thank you for the review, it was very helpful. I learn something new. Just a quick question. Do you or can someone uses the pool while the filter is running? Because I saw your family in the background but I am sure the pool wasn’t running yet. Just out of curiosity because it has a warning sign not to occupy it when operational . The reason for this inquiries is that I have bought an extension water fountain to replace the outlet into the pool. It’s quite fun to see the water falling and my daughter loves to see it but I am afraid to let her use the pool while operational. I don’t know if you’re the right person to this question maybe intex can explain why not to use the pool when the filter is on . Apparently due to experience you can help. I am sorry I have written to much but I appreciate your time reading through. Thank you and keep safe.

      Hi Ekiti, thanks for your comment! To be honest the warning is simply because it's still an electric device operating with water, so theoretically there is always a certain risk of electric shock. Obviously they have to build it to standards to make sure this does not happen but the best advice I can give you is to not swim in the pool when the pump is on.. it's for your safety.

    My pump is not blowing bubbles after 2 days. The filter is not dirty and I checked for the leaks like you showed. Can the pump overheat in the hot sun? I live in Florida and we get in the high 90s.

      Hey William. Hmm it is possible that it overheats, but mine hasnt so far and it does get as hot here too, or worse. Is there no sound coming from it at all when you turn it on?? Or did you manage to fix it by now?

      Hi Surinder, if you use the pool for 3 days or so then no need. But if you want to keep it for weeks or month, a pool this size will need a filter to keep it clean and healthy. I hope that helps!

    How long should the filer pump run ?

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! A couple hours a day should do the job. But if you find the water does not look filtered, longer is fine as well. I also often walk around the pool to stir up the dirt a bit at the beginning, and that gives even better results fast!

  • @chryssanthoula

    Thank you so much! You really helped us! How many hours per day should the pump run?

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hii! That's so nice to hear!!! 😃😃 I've read in Intex info to run it at least as long as to filter all the water in the pool once a day. So it depends on the capacity of the pump and the pool, which are numbers you can look up on the packaging. Mostly that's about 1 hour. But no harm in running it more, your pool will then be cleaner and fresher! Just don't run it while swimming. I hope that helps!

    • @DutchSailingFamily

      Maybe cable zip ties would work? You'll know the intake works when you see water flowing in and out when turning it on.. It should be quite obvious..

    Hoiiiii vraagje, de ring zit heel erg vast, met mijn artrose handen en armen krijg ik hem niet meer los, ook na het knopje boven te hebben geopend. Ik kan geen riem om hem te openen, die zijn allemaal te klein. Heb jij een tip?

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah wat lastig zeg ik ken dit probleem wel met andere filters ook. Als het nog nodig is: Ik zou ws proberen de bovenkant te verwarmen met föhn voor een paar minuutjes. Het zet uit en komt dan ws veel makkelijker los. Maar misschien is een buurman of vrouw vragen om hulp nog wel makkelijker, als je die bij de hand hebt natuurlijk!

    Since day one my pump hasn’t worked properly. It pumps but only slowly there is no water or air leaks. The only way I can sometimes matte it become full pressure is if I cover the part where the water comes back into the pool with my hand for a second or 2 then it will start to be big pressure. But recently it has stopped doing and and is constantly on low pressure any tips

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have checked for water and air leaks, and you are sure the covers are all correctly placed.. it sounds to me especially since it is from day one, that the pump is faulty and needs replacing. That's just my opinion.. But hard to diagnose from a distance really. Hope you get it sorted!

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Did you have any luck with it? Usually frozen water expands when it thaws and that's when it could easily break the plastic filter.. It would be quite obvious if that happened... Hope all is ok!

      @@DutchSailingFamily what's weird is the little fan spins I can hear it running everything but the water will not run-through. Luckily Intex has a two-year warranty and I'm still in that time frame so they are sending me a replacement!

      @@DutchSailingFamily they sent me a brand new pump but no new tubes and clamps and it is doing the exact same thing I tried letting the air out of it I will sit up over the pool it fills up with water lets all the air out soon as I turn on the output hose fills back up with air and it just will not push anything through!!! the bottom hose is bringing in water but the top hose is not putting any out very frustrated!

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jenmc9404 that is weird it does sound like something is not set up the way it should, but impossible to see without being there.. if the tubes are not new, could it be that one is leaking and letting air in?? Some hole in it somewhere? That could easily happen when it freezes. Otherwise I would try to look at it with someone else there with you..
