Michelle I want to thank you for all the videos through out this year! I always look forward to them. Your content is so very helpful to all of us. I have cabbage in the fridge which I'll roast up today, I usually fry it up with hamburger meat and make tacos. I love idea of combining it with pasta which I never did before. Wishing you and your family the very best of health for the coming new year!!!!
A friend of mine told me that when he was a kid his mom would add brussel sprouts to their spaghetti and it tastes like cabbage rolls. I haven't tried this yet personally, but I am going to. Your cabbage spaghetti reminded me of it. My dad won't eat them, so I will just have to make it for my husband and I. Thanks for another great video. Have a wonderful week.
Hey Michelle, I need to share a favourite meal discovery I made that is crazy cheap. I can't stop eating it and my husband and kids love it too. I put garlic and chilli and olive oil in a pot. Then I throw in about 250grams (1/2 pound) of generic store frozen vegetables ( woolies brand for any Aussies reading this. Top quality $2.80 1kg) Then I throw in some water, vegetable bullion, a little tumeric, pepper and two cups of generic spiral pasta. And a cup of dried whole shitake mushrooms from the Asian store. Tomato paste or sauce or a fresh tomato or two makes it great. Then I mix self raising flour with any seasoning and water to make a dough. Add dough blobs as dumplings on top. Boil it for about 15 minutes and it's done. So tasty, easy and filling. It's a soupy meal that's filing, cheap and healthy. I even put mushroom paste from the Asian store, teaspoon in each rustic dumplings blob. Took it to the next level.😮
Depending on your tolerance for strong flavours other pastes from the Asian store can be exquisite. Some are very strong like shrimp paste so use sparingly and know it will perfume the house strongly much like when cooking broccoli or fish, etc. Some other examples are miso paste, black bean paste, curry paste, etc. Michelle loves her better than bouillon vegetable paste lol. They make chicken and beef too!
Thank you for sharing so many inspiring and budget-friendly recipes throughout 2024-your ideas have been a real gift. Wishing you a healthy and happy New Year! … and now i try‘ll some of your creative cabbage magic :)
Great recipes. I have a head of cabbage in the fridge I want to try now. Over Christmas I tried making my own chili oil/chili crunch and it turned out well. I was able to use clean oil like avocado oil versus seed oil etc. It is pricey to make but well worth it. :)
I love cabbage. Not only is the price right but it’s such a versatile vegetable. This video just gave me another way to eat it. I also love chili crisp but never thought to put it on a roasted cabbage steak. Thank you for the great idea!!! 😊 I will definitely be making that ❤️🙏
I just bought a cabbage cause they were on sale. So these ideas will come in handy. I am gonna make a cabbage roll soup but I know it won't use the whole head. I also like adding cabbage to my cashew chicken recipe. I just saute up zucchini, celery, onion, garlic, carrots, with chicken, then I add in shredded cabbage until it's wilted. Then I just make a basic brown sauce (soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, corn starch and water) toss it over every thing until sauce thickens, toss in cashews and sprinkle green onions or cilantro for a bit of fresh green color and flavor. Have you ever tried making your own sauerkraut? Or kimchi? It's pretty easy and full of fermented prebiotic goodness.
I love cabbage in stir fry dishes. Yours sounds so delicious. 😋 It's funny you should mention fermented foods. I had a viewer send me a fermenting kit and my son and I were just discussing what we could make with it. I'm definitely new to fermenting.
I can’t remember if you’ve already made haluski on your channel? This recipe reminds me of it. Sautéed shredded cabbage and onion over egg noodles This looks great. I’m going to try roasting tofu and cabbage and putting over an Asian egg-based noodle of some kind 😻
Thanks for always considering us diabetics who need low carb. Just wish those noodles were available in Canada. However you can consume carbs like pasta, rice or potatoes if you cook them then refrigerate them for 24 hours. It reduces the bad stuff by 35%.
I love some cabbage! I also love lemon pepper seasoning, but it isn’t all created equal. Lawry’s is the best, imo. I put it in almost every vegetable I cook, put it tuna salad and pasta. My favorite potato patty is made with sauerkraut and chopped cripsy bacon, it’s also good not fried and used as a mashed potato side dish. I’d have to agree your best dish was the pasta dish which used up all the old produce. I try my best not to waste food, and don’t know why I didn’t think of making a pasta dish using up the produce, but that’s why I watch you, Michelle! You are always full of great ideas!😊 Happy New Year!
I want cabbage now. I like to fry a couple pieces of chopped bacon. When done, add cut up cabbage and cook until soft. Then add cooked egg noodles. My favorite comfort food.
I was sitting here last night thinking the same thing: how can one onion, six leeks, some garlic, and some rice be so good together!? As you said, a little bouillon makes it better. But it's the prasorizo again, and I love it! And it makes 8 big servings. Elevate it by topping it with a little pecorino. I have seen some cabbage dishes that involve a creamy topping using some cream cheese and bouillon, and found some spaetzle noodles at Aldi in the fall that I am thinking of using in conjunction with the cabbage. This review has given me some ideas, since I just found you a few months back, thx for the review!
Wow....I didn't know roasted cabbage was a thing! Usually when I roast chicken, if I have cabbage, I'd cut it into wedges and put it in the roaster pan along with the carrots, potatoes and onions and season them well. I put them along the sides of the roaster pan, surrounding the chicken and veggies. They get a nice char and they're flavored by the chicken broth - it's so dang good!!! 😋😋😋 Edited to add: Have a Happy New Year!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for all your inspiration. I will have to try the cabbage pasta. And I’ve not yet made the yogurt bagels. I really need to try that. I always have flour on hand, including the self rising flour, and yogurt in my refrigerator. And I have the everything but the bagel seasoning. So I’m gonna have to get on it. Thanks again for the inspiration. Your channel is one of my fav food channels cuz it touches two parts of my heart, food and bargains. Also your voice is so calm and reassuring. Something that we all need when we are feeling stressed. Thanks for all you do
Merry Christmas! Thank you for sharing these amazing inexpensive recipes. My husband is always amazed at how I can turn almost nothing into a delicious dinner for our family and your channel has been a huge inspiration ❤
Thank you chef Michelle 💜. Yes.! I enjoyed the video. Cabbage and Potatoes and Pasta are favorites as well as Mrs. Dash. I agree with you about roasted veggies and how the flavors get intensified. Butter and how to stretch it is just to add a smidge the oil. I found a new recipe on the bag of onions. My other favorite veggie. I am to tired and in bed so I will share it another time. Happy Healthy New Year my friend. 🩵
yes, this was so similar to Haluski just made a different way! Do you like the chili crisp? I haven't been able to stop eating it like this...and I've eaten the entire head of cabbage! 😂 also, I liked the way the cabbage steaks were a little crispy against the noodles as opposed to my Haluski recipe I made.
For just a couple of dollars you can add smoked sausage to this too. It's so good and adds so much for so little costs. A few boiled potatoes are good too. Just giving a couple of cheap but good food items to stretch the food :)
Thanks so much for all your videos. I'm refining my efforts at less expensive meals and your ideas are simply the best! I cook from scratch and fairly healthy so it's a perfect match with your style. Have a great New Year!
Hi Michelle, I hope you had a great Christmas! That roasted cabbage with noodles looks so yummy! I am going to have to try it, but with chick peas pasta. I haven't tried chick peas pasta yet either. I think I have some. If not, I will look for it at the store. Happy New Year!
There's this Chinese place I go to that is like a homey authentic place for actual Chinese and they make this shredded steamed cabbage that's amazing. It's soft and sweet but I don't think there's sugar in it! Just the cabbage intensifying it's flavor like you said. Except it's not all charred. I want to say it's almost undetectable but there might be sesame oil in it. In case you wanted to experiment. Got any rice wine vinegar? I think some of that might be in there too. It's not as harsh as white vinegar
I always learn SO much from your videos, they are always so full of inspiration! I don't think I've ever mentioned how great your outro is. I love the song, and the drone footage is beautiful. Happy New Year!
I absolutely LOVED the spinach/tomato/cabbage/spaghetti dish! It is now my go-to for using up the last of any sad cherry tomatoes. That roasted cabbage looks so good! I'm sitting here thinking, "She *has* to dress it up with some kind of hot sauce!" And you did not disappoint. Thank you for ALL your wonderful ideas this year.
Thank you for all these wonderful videos. You have introduced me to a whole new way of eating, and I love it! I'm wishing you a very happy and blessed NEW YEAR 🎉
Great video! I love cabbage cooked or raw and I LOVE roasted vegetables but I never thought of roasting cabbage. Definitely going to try that! Pasta is my weakness too, Love it! Thanks Michelle!❤
I started baking brussel sprouts cut in half. Roasted til the cut side is brown. A thousand times better then boiled. I will have to try it with cabbage. Thanks for your great recipes. Happy New Year Michelle
Happy 2025, Michelle! I hope the new year brings many great things for you and your family. Thank you for your content. It has helped me in preparing new healthy foods for my family, and helped me to keep teaching my kids about cooking. :)
i feel like that would also taste great with some pot stickers with a teriyaki-based sauce and the chili crisp sauce on top? Sounds so good to me! Happy Holidays, Michelle, to you and your family!
I hope the new year brings you much joy!! You certainly bring me joy!!! I really loved this video!! I had forgotten all about those cabbage potatoe cakes!!! I made those and will be making them again!!❤
I really like your take on cabbage and noodles. I have made a list of must make dishes for 2025. I can't wait to see what comes from your kitchen in 2025. Peace in the new year.
You always amaze me with the ingredients that are made into wonderful meals. I used nutritional yeast more than i have before. That cheesiness was great in soups, veggie pasta, fried mashed potatoes. Happy New Year and many thanks.

Happy new Year! A couple of years I had cabbage steaks all the time and then grew tired of them. Time to try it again! Love your channel and I hope we will continue get videos in 2025😍.
Thank you Michelle for a wonderful channel. Wishing everyone in our family a wonderful 2025 and thank you for having a year in review that I could bookmark and save so I can go back to one video for a lot of great ideas. ❤️🎉🥳🍾

15:10 if you press 7 on the keyboard if you're at home you get to that point and when you said "make a meal put of it" you reminded me of being on set where we have little cute ways of saying things. Like "don't make a meal out of it" which means not to make a huge ordeal or something that takes a lot of time. Kind of great because you always think we don't have time for you. And I see it this way. If people want to make time for you, they will. If people don't value you enough, they give the excuse that they don't have time as a cop out self centered way of getting out of their personal care of others. There is always time not matter how much anyone has no time.
Topping the cabbage with Parmesan is also great

That sounds delicious! The bags of shredded Brussel Sprouts in the produce section might be ideal for that. Thanks for the inspiration!❤
Now what if you shredded the Brussels to be like cabbage.. LMAO. Does he like roasted and charred Brussels? Olive oil and salt and flip halfway.

Great idea with the cabbage. Id do the cabbage steaks with the chili crisp and melted butter. So it isn’t too spicy and butter helps browning
I ate the entire head of cabbage and I'm still craving that dish!

I was intrigued by the chili crisp, it looks really good but is it ridiculously hot or just hot hot? 😂 I looked it up and my
Walmart carries it.

If people don't value you enough, they give the excuse that they don't have time as a cop out self centered way of getting out of their personal care of others. There is always time not matter how much anyone has no time.

That’s really sad that they feel the need to wrap the cabbage in plastic. 😔
