      The Orcas do have enough room (5 Orcas total, 7 pools, underwater viewing and show pool are the top 2 largest enclosures), plus Katina is also there (since 1984), the other 4 (like Trua is Katinas grandson, Nalani is Katinas daughter “or 6th baby”, Makaio is Katinas son “7th and final baby”, and Malia is Makaios older half sister “because same dad, different mothers”) from right to left in order is Katina, Nalani, Malia, Trua, and Makaio (3 girls and 2 boys)

    The orcas dorsal fins shouldn’t be curved like that. I understand if they are going to rescue and rehabilitate the animals to put them back out in the wild. But its sad to see the lack of room they have.

    • @PeekAdventures
      @PeekAdventures 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Curved dorsal fin is a normal occurrence in certain populations of wild orcas. There are multiple reported cases of killer whales having curved or collapsed fins in the wild.

    • @salteens1251
      @salteens1251 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That statement is false. Curved dorsal fins are a regular occurrence in orca populations. The goal is always rescue, rehabilitate, and release, but unfortunately, that is not always a possibility. Many animals would not survive due to their injuries if they were released.

    • @ilsepardalis

  • @laurenm7929
    @laurenm7929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You’re right! They don’t have much space! But, keep in mind the keepers would never do anything to harm their animals. As I’m sure you know, Orcas aren’t meant to be kept in captivity, and easily become stressed, as shown by their floppy dorsal fin. Sea World has done tremendous work with wild Orcas and conservation, and plan on removing the Orca show at all of their locations as soon as they are able to. (Think about where the orcas would go if they shut it down right now... they can’t be released into the ocean, they’ll die in a few days... So basically they are waiting until the orcas reach the end of their lives and after that will no longer have the show.) I study marine mammals and conservation, so I hope this helped!

    • @its_ezralol
      @its_ezralol 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got ur research wrong.Have you seen Tilikum The Orca.He died 4 years ago.Due to heart issues I think.He suffered from Seaworld.If he was in the wild he would still be living but us humans can’t leave anything alone so he died.He was responsible for the death of 3 trainers.The most famous being In 2010 where he bit off a trainers arm and drowned and killed her.Also Keiko.He was the movie star for “Free Willy.”But he wasn’t free after that,He was still in his swimming pool suffering.If you want a real place to sea healthy wildlife go to Georgia Aquarium.They give proper healthcare to their whales and all their other animals.

    • @laurenm7929
      @laurenm7929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@its_ezralol you’re correct, I’ve seen Blackfish. He was one whale of the many across the sea world parks, occurrences like that rarely happen. I was talking about the current orca show.

    • @migglej.r.7667
      @migglej.r.7667 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@its_ezralol actually no you’re wrong. He had died of a lung disease. He did not suffer from seaworld in fact his life was better. Tilikum before coming to seaworld in the 90s he was at another facility where he was kept in a much smaller enclosure and he was kept with 2 other females and if you didn’t know females are dominant so they bullied tili. And the female orcas would bully him. At night they would put tili and the 2 females in these barges over night where they severely bullied tili. So no he did not suffer at seaworld. Sealand closed and then seaworld bought the orcas and that’s how they got tilikum. SeaWorld was probably the best thing that happened to tilikum. He definitely did not suffer and lived as long as a male wild killer whale which is 30-50. He lived to be 33 or 34 so he would of died earlier if seaworld hadn’t been treating his lung disease. And his lung disease would of happened in the wild as well and he would of died a lot more sooner.

      @laurenm7929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@migglej.r.7667 Yes! Thank your for correcting us! Just imagine how horrible Tilikum’s life would have been if he stayed at SeaLand being abused constantly by his female tank-mates and Sea World wouldn’t have brought him in!

    Dont feel bad that its empty. Hopefully they continue to loose enough revenue that they have to move the animals to a sanctuary. They would be smart to focus on ocean themed rides at a park and open sanctuaries elsewhere for the animals. THEN maybe they will make back what they have lost. Plus they will truly be teaching people about these beautiful animals. When humans have more space to park their cars than large cetaceans who travel hundreds of miles a day, thats a problem. They currently swim in small circles and are ripped from their familial bonds and pairs. The orcas at sea world are from different pods and even completely different species. Even though they look the same, it would be as if you were in a room with multiple people who don't speak the same languages and you have no way to communicate. It really is sad and stressful for them.

There have been reports of the whales bullying each other when they go in at night. They leave injuries on each other and the trainers do nothing about it. hey Kyle! so I’m a marine bio major and grew up going to Seaworld. I had a few years where I was totally against what they did back in middle school and early high school, but after further research, Seaworld truly is the best of the best when it comes to captive care. If you look at places like miami seaquarium (literally google a picture of their orca pool. it’s a swimming pool) and gulf world, you can see that SW does a great job caring for their animals, and they have a good amount of space. they also shut down their orca breeding program, so they can no longer breed, export, or import orcas which basically means that when the orcas that they have die, they will be done with their orca program. sorry to go off a little here but I’ve spent 12 years of my life researching these things, and compared to other captive facilities, Seaworld is definitely one you can trust and support.

      when they are not doing loud shows multiple times a day...............that's like saying "oh it's OK to keep Farmed animals inside, bc at least they get to go outside for a few months out of the year." they are STILL confined for several months so that doesn't make it ok.

    I have not been to sea world here but went back in 97 maybe 98 and then in 2002 to the one in California where I’m originally from and loved it. I just hate that I probably can’t do the coasters. I love them but as I get older my motion sickness on more intense rides has gotten worse 😢

    You got a nice car. If I lived down there I'd buy it. Try to find a person that really needs one and sell it .If u know a good mechanic have them ck over both cars,that way if someone wants to buy it they know your not pulling there strings. I hope u luck on it. Your a good person that shows the rides and such. I'll be watching you.

  • @DavidHHH99
    @DavidHHH99 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, you come out of your seat on some of the coasters. The ride is designed to do that. It's called airtime, and the best coasters have it. That's why you don't find airtime at Disney. If you want the best coasters in Florida, go west to Busch Gardens, though Islands of Adventure (and Sea World) has some great ones, too.
    Also, you should cover the fish when feeding the sea lions. The aggressive birds will knock over the container and take them ALL right from you.
    Yeah, I'm torn on them keeping intelligent mammals like orcas and dolphins in small enclosures and doing tricks for out amusement. They may be well taken care of, but it's ethically dubious.

      hi the stuff in blackfish was up until 2013, seaworld has been through many owners since then just as of the current one, he is focusing on rides rather than animals. san diego has already gotten rid of the orca show and the other parks shall soon follow. it’s just not easy to get rid of a bunch of huge whales. at this point if they were released in the wild, they’d die. so they have to sell them off, which takes time. i’d also assume they want to sell them off correctly and in a manor that won’t get the cancelled. they’re trying and no long affiliated in any way with the people who conducted seaworld in that way many years ago.
