Like 16GB of VRAM is already TODAY, too little for a GPU targeting ray tracing at 4K which a 1000$ GPU is. Other benchmarks show path traced Alan wake 2/other games run into VRAM issues on this GPU
Because the 5080 has the Blackwell Architecture, which gives many future benefits, such as updates of MFG on future series. On the other hand, the 4090 is using a discontinued (at least on the GPU line) Ada Lovelace architecture.
@@tagodainAll of that is nice, but when you hit the Vram limit, what's the point? To suggest a product is more future proof on 'ifs' and 'maybes', is that what you are suggesting?
Who would have known that 7900XTX will be the most future proof GPU of all time. 4 years and nearest competitor is 10% max faster for the same price. Insane.
You mean 2 years. Also it's terrible at path tracing, even a 16GB 4060 Ti runs Cyberpunk with path tracing faster than a 7900 XTX, and that's without frame generation.
Very few gamers regularly enable ray tracing .. few games are enhanced by it and most who promote the hype about it don't have the VRAM or 400W+ GPU to use it.
I wish NVIDIA would release a 5080 Ti. That would be my ideal card. But I suspect that will once again not happen, like with RTX 4000, to upsell people to the 5090.
Honestly tho, the 5080 at 1000 msrp is incrediblely difficult to get and AIBs arent willing to sell the MSRP cards because the margins are so low. It reasonably starts at 1200. I still see a few 4080s hanging around at the 1k msrp and its a better buy. Basically, its the same situation as the 5090. 10% more money for 10% more performance. Extremely disappointing.
Thanks for doing some production benchmarks, been surprisingly hard to find any from the major hardware review channels this product cycle. Also, it's fascinating how youtube has zero spam protection against obvious bot promotion for random shitcoins. Barely doing better than the platform formally known as Twitter.
I think its a solid card for 1000. I buy the 90 class but its still a nice option for those who dont wanna spend the most but still a nice gaming experience.
dont feed into that scam, they trying to sell us again xx70 series cards coated as 5080. At best this card is 800 dollars. This is the only card in whole generation that gives 10% performance. They trying to scam people again like they wanted with 4080. Im not paying 1k for a card that basically is 4070 super slimy edition. And 1k is MSRP. The real world is 1.2-1.4k which 10000% not worth it. Just do yourself a favor and save for 5090 or wait for 60 series(if they aint a scam). P.S. Also based on hardware unbox there are scenarios where 5080 is slower by 10% then the 4080 super. The majority times performance was around 4-6% increase and some outliers at 20+% that carried the average to 11%. So no this card is shit and I will save my precious money for something better.
No wonder Nvidia pushed dubious MFG feature so hard, the skepticism was warranted. The RTX 4080 was a failed card that had to be cut in price, the 4080 Super is the right comparison.
Lol, .92% of all PC Gamers = literally over a million people = "failed". The 4080 has sold equally as well as the 4080 Super. Just because you repeat something over and over doesn't make it true, the 4080 sold extremely well at $1200, it was not a "failure".
@@Wobbothe3rdsince when does Nvidia cut prices? It launched to bad reviews, it failed to make the expected sales and sat on shelves, they HAD to relaunch at a lower price. I suppose you'll say the 4080 12GB was not a failure either.
I was considering buying a 5080, but after all the reviews I've seen the bang for the buck isn't there. I'll wait until the 5080 Super comes out, or maybe wait for the 6080.
Sure, yeah right. Most of these reviews are positive, you're deliberately feeding your confirmation bias. Unless you have a 4080 the 5080 is an excellent value. For the vast majority of gamers the 5080 would be a clear upgrade.
The RTX-5080 should not cost more than £800. This is another ridiculous 6800XT to 7800XT situation where the next generation card performance is the same as the card its supposed to replace, but with better "turn the resolution down" (ironically named) Up-Scaling technology! This is atrocious..
Well it looks like a 💩 show to me yet again, prices are greedy (becoming the norm) and performance is as you said MEH !! I think the SUPER's will make an appearance again as they usually do when it's a 💩 show, they drop the price a few pennies & give 2% performance increase then everyone looses their 💩 and thinks their getting a bargain 🤣🤣 Nah, Nvidia needs to offer some value ☹☹
Realistically, there's not a real avenue for a Super version unless they do a node shrinkto 3nm if it got viable for consumer pricing, which would bring closer to 30+% improvement and at that point be a new line for all intents and purposes. Honestly, they should've named this gen RTX 4500 since it is a new architecture but effectively on the same node.
Who says the 5080 should beat the 4090. If bought a 4090 I would be happy. And it pretty clear they will come out with card in the middle of 5080😂 and 5090 they have tons of room. People wouldn't pay 1200 and Nvidia learned, here you go, winey gamers, faster performance for the same money, and people still are not happy.
Did you look at the same review videos? It DOESN'T have faster performance.. Its effectively an overclocked 4080 Super posing as a next generati0on GPU.. You'd better quit that nonsense..
Almost 1 in 100 gamers bought a 4080. Just as many as bought the 4080 Super - stop lying like people wouldn't pay 1200, they did and still will for 5080 AIBs.

@ Fair enough, but how many PC gamers are on Steam total? You can't take a single platform as gospel for all PC gamers, and especially sales of a specific product. 80s series cards are high end and typically you expect the main stream 70 series to be adopted at a faster rate, and much faster even for the low end 60 series. Not to mention that the 4080 never sold well anyway.
These cards end up being a great advertisement for Radeon 7000 series for anyone who cares about value. Especially factoring in AIB pricing. 😅
