It’s a thresher shark or Atlantic sharpnose shark. Probably the latter.

Maybe that is why it seemed so relaxed with the hammerhead behind him/her. From the human perspective that smaller shark was very close to the hammerheads mouth, but the smaller shark is in another speed dimension so wasn't bothered too much by his big relative closing in on him/her with sluggish speed.
because his tail was still fully submerged, he lured the hammerhead in the shallows to slow down his explosive attack and then made a dash for it...not his first encounter with a hammer I presume

That smaller shark is smart. Went to the shallows where the larger hammer head would be slower with its larger tail fin dragging the bottom. Allowed the smaller shark to maneuver faster and get some distance.

@@BS-dq1kz if I had to guess it’s either northern Queensland, Northern Territory or maybe north Western Australia. That’s just based on where the largest populations of mangrove trees are which he always seems to be around and that cross referenced with where there are large populations of hammerhead sharks. It’s most likely to be Northern Territory

I was there too on a tour and they told us we can swim/walk in the water thats only few feets deep. I was the first of the group and out of nowhere i was faceing 5 sharks but then they are gone and nobody else saw them😅 and i survived without being a cameraman
I thought the water was so crystal clear and inviting, then 2 sharks passed by. 😂

@@Dragon-hb1yq The lemon shark (Negaprion brevirostris) has a somewhat stubby first dorsal fin, stubbier than the first dorsal fin on the smaller shark in the video. It's probably one of the many species of shark in the family Carcharhinidae, though.

They both probably came in close to eat stingrays. I'm guessing the Hammerheads just running the Black Tip out of what it considers HIS feeding territory. We used to see Black Tips close to shore all the time early in the AM cause that's when stingrays come in the shallows

The big shark is actually a great hammerhead and it is chasing its prey - a smaller shark. The small shark is quite smart because it swam towards shallow water.
But the sign says "This shark infested beach is safe".

When I was in 6th grade, my father caught a golden hammerhead shark, and he had it mounted on our wall. Around 1987, we move from Oklahoma to Texas with this shark mounted on top of an AMC Pacer that was almost the same color. It just happened to be just before the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma University and Texas Longhorns so we were being passed by a lot of OU fans and they would slow down to take pics of this Golden Hammerhead Shark that was on top of this yellow AMC Pacer. Highlight was when the bus full of the OU players passed. Taking pictures and whooping. Would love to see any pics people caught. It would have been around 1987. 🤣🤣🤣
