Some comments here claiming our statement about Samsung manufacturing in China is inaccurate. Just so everyone watching is clear, Samsung does indeed still have manufacturing in China. While it has moved final assembly of smartphones out of China, it has a NAND memory manufacturing facility in Xi'an, and a chip packaging facility in Suzhou -- where chips, including its own as well as those from suppliers like Qualcomm, are assembled onto a circuit board before getting shipped out for final installation in a device.
Thanks everyone for your interest in this video!

Considering Huawei just sold 15 million units in one week of launch, I think the yields are much higher than these guys give SMIC and Huawei credit. For comparison Apple has sold 26.5 million iphone 14 pro this year so far in 9 months and Huawei sold 15 million in 1 week. Huawei also is launching mate 60 pro plus and their new top of the line foldable phone. All in all, I think we really screwed ourselves. At this rate Huawei will regain their leading market share in China and then in the Middle East, Russia, South East Asia, Africa and S. America. Where does that leave our companies?

also: they didn't give number about how many chips directly bought by china. something fishy about this video.

Check out Huawei's newly released Mate 60 Pro+ and Mate X5. The former is probably using Kirin 9100 based on 5nm technology and able to download at 5.5G (Huawei is leading everyone in this area) speed (>1G/s). It also supports dual satellite communication (Beidou for two-way texting and Tiantong for phone calling). I think you are missing the point. Qualcomm can only sell Huawei 4G 888 series chips. Now with Huawei fielding its own 9000s chip with 5G, it no longer needs to buy Qualcomm chips. And the values of these Qualcomm chips are noted by China customs regardless of the company buying them. They are imported into China and assembled in China and sold domestically or exported to another country. If the chip from the US or Taiwan goes through China customs, it is considered a China import, that is no different than any other country.

The decline in Apple's shareprices has
become noticeable, particularly in light of

portion of iPhone sales. An important aspect

Not the sell is over 15M in China alone, and keep going up, more people want it. So Apples sale will be down about 32-37% estimated in China. Thanks for the sanctions from US, that speed up the self manufacture chips and softwares. Also once the Chinese made DUV and EUV start manufacture, the cost of chips will down significantly, more Chinese mobile brands will use domestic made chips.

There are some misunderstandings I need to mention to you. 1. Mate 60 sold out pretty fast because they have a 1.4 billion population and the biggest Consumer market around the world, The demand is huge, so it takes time to reach an effective production rate to satisfy the market's needs. Any industrial commodity released in the Chinese market needs to have a mature and stable supply chain prepared in advance to support its huge demand. your assumption is they still cannot produce those chips stably and guarantee production yield. If that is the case, this phone won't even launch in the market, simply because it wouldn't be economically feasible. the assumption doesn't make any sense from an IT industrial veteran point of view. 2. The phone sold out very fast also because, in its original launching plan, it was supposed launched on the 12th of September, but the minister of commerce of the US Gina Raimondo visiting China around 30th of August. So, in order to give her a little surprise, they have to change the launching date from 12th of September to 30th of August without any marketing campaigns or advertising in place. The change caused a little logistical problem as well, which means all Huawei stores on the 30th of August don't have enough stock to sell. 3. Huawei is leading 5G and 5G+ technology, holding more than 15 percent of granted and active patents worldwide., which takes first place in a ranking complied by IPlytics .(www.statista.com/chart/20095/companies-with-most-5g-patent-families-and-patent-families-applications/) 4. Mate 60 is not only a 5G smartphone, the official name on it package is satellite communication device. this is the first smartphone can make a call through satellite connection in the global market. Mate 60 Pro+ and Mate X5 (foldable), the former is probably using Kirin 9100 based on 5nm technology and able to download at 5.5G (Huawei is leading everyone in this area) speed (>1G/s) here is network speed test (th-cam.com/video/W9H_FsIUt-g/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=%E9%92%9F%E6%96%87%E6%B3%BD). It also supports dual satellite communication (Beidou for two-way texting and Tiantong for phone calling). There still have one product haven't release yet, which is Mate 60 pro RS. and I heard the new chip will be install in all the product lines, not only phone. So mass production of the chip is not a problem for them. 4. Xiaomi, they are also doing its chip R&D project according to one of my friends who works for Xiaomi, they try to "de-risk from the US unstable suppliers", ramped up the chip design and manufacturing talent-hiring program in 2019. So don't be surprised when you hear some good news from Xiaomi next year. 5. you guys need to think outside of box, it's not a business competition between Chinese company and American company anymore, it's technology war against China launching by the U.S government , the goal is to keep the US technology hegemony and forcing China quit from high-tech competition, making cheap T-shirt and plastic for the U.S forever, at least the most of people in China think that way, that's also the reason people line up in front of Huawei store to buy a Mate 60, to support Huawei in this war. 5. Qualcomm will re-bounce in 2024? Ha ha, if I were you, I would short Qualcomm stock. My prediction on Qualcomm's stock price, it will be in the toilet in the long term, because not only China is trying chip manufacturing, but Europe and Japan as well. High-end chip prices will drop so low you won't imagine in the next few years. I think the anti-dumping investigation aimed at Qualcomm and other American chip firms in the Chinese market will come much sooner than we think, since Chinese already have an independent chip supply chain. Only the final solution and product matters for consumers in the embedded device market, people buy a gadget, no chip. Instead, I will buy some Apple stock, hold for 1-2 years, its price is historically low, and if Huawei wants to build a comprehensive product ecosystem like Apple have right now, Huawei, and other Chinese company probably still need to take a few years to catch up, so Apple still have its competitive advantage. 6. it worth to mention, there is no such thing China ban iPhone in the government, but who will funding adversary in the war, right? this is a not-brainer. Chinese are dumping iPhone, due to national security-related concerns and patriotism sentiment, outside of China, it still can domain the high-end smartphone market for few years and making lots of money from its app store and ecosystem. One more thing, who said the Huawei Kirin 9000s chip is manufactured by SMIC? Who said DUV and EUV machine is the only way to manufacture chips? You guys know about China so little, but still bold enough to make an investment decision based on your misleading perception of China. Prejudice is further from true than Ignorance. check this out: www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=57209882883, probably it will give you some ideas how we made those chips.

Qualcom is going to lose the sales of the same number of cips as Huawei sales of their phones. Those will take a market share from those who usees qualcoms chips.
In addition to that Qualcom may lose sales of 5G modems. I think Chinese will want to have 5G phones too. After all, it was Huawei who developed the best version of it.
Not a devastating blow to Qualcom, I'm sure. But enough for them to notice. And it's just a beginning.
Eventually, the US might stop some of their sanctions, and Qualcom might then recover some market. The Chinese are very pragmatic!
But this is just a start of the change the US sanctions has caused. Long-term it will be an industrial upheaval.

Yield under N+1 or n+2 process theoretical is low, but technology does advance, theory may not hold. It is not the volume of foreign companies manufacturer's assembly products in china. It is the market in china. It is how much the market shares foreign companies can still have after Huawei's new processor. That is the reason for the drop in Qualcomm share. The shrinking Chinese market is the issue.

Based on your previously video you guys were bullish on Qcomm. I'm a little bit puzzled as to why.
Is it because 1) You guys believe they'll rebound in smartphone sales in 2024 so that'll help push the stock up.
or 2)based on the long term view that Qcomm diverse their business into auto and AI will help further drive up revenue and growth?
Just from my observation, short term. There's nothing appealing about this company. Smartphone sales are flat and I dont think its a growth business anymore as people are holding onto the phones longer. Their automotive and AI potential are still long term and 2 -3 years out before it becomes meaningful and significant.
The only thing i'm excited is that rumors they are able to make an ARMS chip thats competitive to Apples M2 and M3. Do you believe Qcom can make a competitive ARMS chip to Apple?

But also mean the consumers lose out on the best products in a capitalism market while being forced to buy in a restrictive market ie more communism than the Chinese 😂 on market control.

😅 the real deal is they make the 7nm with multi or double pattern. Low yeild could be offset by working on multi machine, that not a problem. The matter show that huawei are very capable of producing this chip with just duv machine which is really incredible.😅😅
