It's nice to see that somebody's finally reviewing this knife because I found it but then every time I put in Bear Grylls Survival Knife I'd get a different blade. Now I happen to have a couple of the seal Pops that Hadley Ernie's face on the packaging so I had the cheapest model but as you said they've gone up now to being 55 or $60 when they used to be 45 so when I saw this one I thought oh it would be great if it was the same knife for less money but it's not

Never been a fan of blades that have a large unuseable section of blade right next to the handle. People say thats where you can choke up on the knife or that you can strike a fero rod with it.
Out of all of the 30 years of fishing, hiking, and camping ive never found a need to choke up on the blade. But I have used the heel of the blade a ton because it is the spot where you have the highest leverage. And you can use the spine of a knife to strike a fero.
If i was to suggest a better alternative to that knife. It would be the cold steel peacemaker or peacemaker 2. One has a longer blade. They are scandi ground and truly shaving sharp out of the box. And they're only 30ish bucks. Ive been beating the hell out of mine for years. As long as you are able to resharpen your knives itll last you a long time. Learn how to do it. If you cant stand paying an arm and a leg for knives that will go dull just like every other knife. Learn yo sharpen. It will save you so much mony on knives. Super steels that dont go dull for a long time wont matter to you because you know how to maintain your knives.

Interesting looking knife but I don't like any portion of my knife to be serrated

Why is there so much blade that’s just a flat edge. Seems like such a waste of potentiometer cutting edge.

Bear Grylls is a qualified professional who should not be putting his name on Chinese products.

Could you take a look at something from TLELL? I think you'd like the Mercenary or the the Frogman. It would be interesting to hear if you think the price jump is worth it, especially concidering that Tim, his wife, and one other guy make them all by hand with materials bought in America

Damn. I wish he'd go back to gerber. His run with gerber was awesome

The last version of the Gerber BG knife was a good value knife. Even got to like the bright orange when you put it down and had to look for it. This one looks like a Chinese company using his name and image. Still looks as if would be good for the price. Appreciate your great reviews and showing us these budget gems.

The bullshit "choil" on that mess just means you loose what looks like 2in of usable blade?!

The same culd be said for the serrations. I've never wanted a serrated knife for anything but cutting bread

It is good of you to review knives that people in this economy can turn to for self protection. It is NOT an option anymore, a dire necessity!

I get it. Compared to much out there yes it is trash. I can afford all kinds of expensive blades and I have them, but budget knock arounds have their purpose, especially to those who can’t afford much. Take a man with no knife and give him this and he has much.
