    My 1999 Enfield 350 Bullet Std (Same as 1955 model with 12 volt electrics and turn signals) will achieve a phenomenal 63MPH true on level tarmac and do 0-50 in a blistering 15 seconds.

    Good to hear US enthusiasm for a historic British marque and a new category land speed record!

    Oh the irony when he said the engine is "Bullet proof".

    The head lamp could have been removed to reduced the weight. Any way it is covered.
    Apart from that, a skinner rider was essential!! :))

      The head lamp speedo etc cant be removed as has to have all standard parts as well as mods to qualify in its category.

    Hitchcocks cafe racer 612cc was timed at 120mph with fairing based on the old motor. About time Enfield started making a new Interceptor 750. there is even an Enfield dealer who can make you a 750cc Bullet SINGLE. Dave UK

    I'm inspired to build a LSR bike and give Bonneville a go !
    Might have some time after my bikeexif feature is finished ....

    I'm guessing you didn't double the hp. That would be a little over 58hp which should easily do 100+ mph.

      Standard BHP at the rear wheel for a 535 is 20ish. Hitchcocks mods get to around 28. Skim the barrel and modify the airbox and you get some more, well mine revs higher anyway. Peak torque seems around 5. The standard airbox filter design chokes the motor above 4.5. The team lost a bit as they were running as a 500

    All those mods to the engine and still can't do a ton! Come on Enfield sort this slugger out. How can you be a Cafe racer and be so slow?

      @lalit3124 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      from 90mph to 97mph .. i think they ll improve slowly

      @rahulgosh1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      - It's done on the 'Bonneville Salts' it makes a difference, on a conventional tarmac this would have done the 'Ton' easily, the challenge is doing it in the salts.

      Oh come on!!
      Salt or no Salt.... Totally agree with Grumpy Scrumpy!
      All those engine mods and it still can't do the Ton is absolutely right. Lets not forget all those other mods too, like the big fairing....
      A LOT of work and not that much go.
      Yes it is very disappointing..... This advertisement ( because that's what it is). Kind of "shoots itself in the foot" don't you agree?
      My Triton has NO WHERE near the engine work, and the fairing is definitely not the same size/ covering.
      Yet it can do 95 MPH........ In 3rd gear alone, one more gear left over. Once more, the bike is 54 years old, like no modern fuel injection stuff.
      I respect Enfield Company for trying, I really do. But I find it hard to respect them when they are attempting to pass something off as "amazing" when the performance is just not startling at all!
      Enfield Company please try harder, we are waiting!

      Loads of brits go to Bonneville and can't believe how slow they go The Enfield probably is around 20bhp at the back wheel standard and they are pretty easy to get to 30 or so. A lot of that horsepower will literally evaporate at Bonneville. Old school bikes generally need somewhere between 35 and 40 bhp to do the ton on tarmac roads at sea level.

    My 500 parallel twin Ducati will go just over 100 mph with no fairing pretty much stock gearing, the only thing modified is the ignition system, carb jetting, and air intake ram tubes.

      @teenarajan8811 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is not a Ducati nor a parallel twin. This is a 6000$ cafe racer.

    I love my 535GT and wouldn't spend a nickel trying to increase the power. Just not worth it. Way too expensive. Enjoy it as is. If you wanna go fast start with a fast bike.

    Forget all the ignoramuses' comments below Just read the comment of the one guy [ I did ] who's actually run bikes at Bonneville.
    If folks BSA DBDs and Velocette's Venoms et all are so much faster at Bonneville how come this bike beat the previous record by nearly 10 miles an hour?

  • @abdhulrahman4983
    @abdhulrahman4983 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    WT* that's only 157 or 158 km per hour
    I have touched 160km per hour on royal enfield Classic 500 and it was not even modified
    I expected more from continental

      The older cable driven Royal Enfield speedometers typically read about 10-12% faster than the true speed. Top speed on my 350 Std is slightly over 100KPH (63MPH) , but the speedometer indicates 113KPH (71MPH). Most of the older motorcycles with mechanical speedmeters read high in my experience. Road tests on the newer fuel injected 500 Royal Enfield all show a top speed of about 85mph (136kph) on level ground. The original Iron barrel 500 topped out (stock) at about 110-115kph. As mentioed most of the cable drive speedos on the older models showed 10-12% high so speedo might show close to 130. If you are making 160 (100mph) your speedo must be off.

    What's all the fuzz about this preposterous increase of speed?
    "... we hope to double the power!"
    My 50 year old Venom can do better.
