Neil Sedaka fans believe it's high time for Neil to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
As the prolific and versatile author of more than 1,000 songs, the accolades showered on Neil Sedaka have been numerous. Among the honours he has received, Sedaka has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, has had a street named after him in his hometown of Brooklyn, and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On this day in 1959 {Feb. 28th} Neil Sedaka performed "The Diary" on the ABC-TV program 'The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show'
Two months earlier on Dec. 8th, 1958 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #14 and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100
It was his 1st charted record; he had three prior releases {"Laura Lee" in 1957, "Ring-A-Rocking" and "Oh, Delilah!" both in 1958}
R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012} and Mr. Sedaka will turn 74 years old this coming March 13th
