    Totally agree about the quick shifter......

    • @yodasands
      @yodasands 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mostly use the quick shifter when doing things like getting on the highway. If the RPMs are 4k+ and you hold the throttle stable it works flawlessly. I have to break the habit of trying to rev match when shifting with the quick shifter. It doesn’t work as well when you roll off and on a little as I normally do when using the clutch. If I had to guess the ECU is looking at throttle position when it cuts power to make the quick shift. If you are making throttle changes during the shift it throws off the calculation.
      Just get on it and pop through the gears and it’s gold. It also works well when when shifting down quickly on a faster stop.
      Thanks for the great videos.

    Wow what a trip. A true test of function and form. I recently did the Pig trail with a friend, about 4 hours or so... and no issues. We took some breaks of course, (im old), but she handled the twisties like a champ

    Hi from England. Really enjoyed this mini series and respect to you for the miles you covered. I have literally just bought (not even taken delivery yet) a 2023 Hayabusa. To put it into perspective, it would be like me going from England in Europe to Morocco in Africa!
    Regarding the QS, the technician told me that under acceleration it should only be used at full revs between 8 & 10 thousand revs. Most reviews I have seen claim a fuel-tank range of 130 miles, which seems way too low for me.
    Great content, and I have subscribed. Ride safe.

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for watching and commenting! Wow, England to Morocco would be an epic voyage!!! There is for sure an issue with the QS. My experience has been the opposite it works more consistently not at full revs. I think it happens the most between 1 and 2nd gear so recently I've just decided I will clutch 1 to 2nd and use the QS beyond that. I also use it around town being lazy sometimes and I've used it in both mods. The Hayabusa gets way more then 130, I don't even start thinking about a gas station till 150 but you can get closer to 200. 130 is more like city driving on my ZX10R. Enjoy your new purchase!!!

    Thanks so much for this series of videos of your trip. As a proud owner of a Gen 3 Busa I am looking forward to following in your footsteps and do some touring on mine. I was thinking of using a tank bag (with the ring lock fitting) and a back pack. I too have around 1500 miles on mine so hopefully my S22's last as long as yours. Maybe next time I will consider a more sport touring tire. I also sometimes experience a ''lag'' in the quick shifting as it pauses between gears (usually between 4th and 5th). I typically use the clutch between 1st and 2nd and 5th to 6th. If you are stressing the bike in 5th you are going way over the speed limit. Cheers

    Man that’s insane milage, interesting to hear about the quick shifter, that must of been frustrating when using it.
    Glad to hear that the bike handled it like a boss, definitely had to be more comfortable that the ZX10 🤘

    I have almost all the same comments on my Gen 1 ZX-14. I also own a ZX-11 and just sold my Honda VFR1200F. This video was good info, as I'm looking at a 2022 Busa right now. From what you've said here, it's just as good for sport touring as the ZX-14! The cruise control might make it even better. Cant wait for my test ride.

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the electronics is the main difference between a Gen 3 Busa and the ZX14. Both great bikes but I can't live without my cruise control now that I have it! Love the ZX11, that was such and still is a bad ass bike!

  • @tinfore

    I agree with the quick shifter. I get a bit lazy at times and sometimes don't fully engage the shift lever. The bike will simply not go into gear and it'll rev high until you release the throttle and put it into the correct gear, usually for me it's second.
    I also just went on a short trip that put me on the bike for 1hr 20mins. I did that nonstop and man I can feel it. 95 miles one way. I think if I had the tank bag I'd be ok. It seems like you could sort of lay on it and take some strain off my arms and back. This is all on a 2023 Hayabusa, basically the same as the 2022.

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could not do the trips I do without cruise control or on my ZX10 I have a throttle lock. I'll engage cruise, sit up straight for a bit. When there are no cars around I'll slow down and stand up holding the bars, stretch my legs. I got lots of little tricks that help me survive 400-500 miles a day.

  • @miklosmaraczi8807
    @miklosmaraczi8807 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad you got such a great mileage from those S22s. My stock S22s already lost 2mms of tread depth in the first 1,000 kms with less than 4mm remaining. I'm scheduling a change soon as I'm going away on a 2,500km trip and the tires may not last.

    • @MonkeyButtRides
      @MonkeyButtRides  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are getting another set of 22's I would max out the PSI, especially if you are going to be spending lots of km's on top of the tire.

I was thinking he would only do a few rounds up front and then reality would set in but he looks like he might go the whole season. After Tomac's dominance at Red Bud yesterday it might be over for everyone else, I'm also impressed with Jason Anderson, he never really did very good outdoors but he is killing it like he did indoors this year.

    I love how you're comparing two mad sportsbikes to each other for crazy long road trips 😂😂
    I remember the concern in some of the videos on the zx10r around fuel....and you were in the proper middle of nowhere 😂
    I still think you should do a track day :P
    I'm very interested in that tail bag now. Might have to become a thing I own in the future. I did the same thing to an Oxford bag to the handle.....the grab handle should be strong enough imo.
    I think I'd always try get a tanklock tank bag. Just stick it on and forget about it :) Mainly because I'm lazy.
    Haha I also thank cars for not trying to kill me :P. That's crazy it was that wet from humidity.
    I wonder how those tyres would hold up to the mighty Busa, be interesting to see.
    I'm still sad we missed each other by like a week in FL.
    Must have been a big accident or something closed the road? That's a pity. Haha I think rain is like a guarantee on any bike trip eh 😂😂 That's heavy heavy rain!!!
    Houston looks....not like a biking place eh :P I've heard Austin is nice tho.
    High winds suck man. Holy shit that's bad bad with the trucks all going for a nap!!!
    So happy you love the Busa. One day Hopefully I can follow you down that path :)
    Great video and great series man!

      @MonkeyButtRides  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, I can still see that sign like it's in front of me right now...."Next gas stop 170 miles..." I just about shit myself on the spot...easy distance for the Busa though. I have not ruled out the idea of a track day. I think my next tank bag will be a tank lock. Some of us have to learn the hard way. 🤣 It would have been awesome to meet and ride with ya, I was for sure disappointed. A gas attendant (the first rain stop) told me it was a fatal accident, his cousin/uncle or something is a police officer, who knows maybe the dude in the video thumbnail, after that I felt bad for feeling bad about the road closure. Thanks it was a great journey, next time though I want to go through Arkansas and Tennessee, maybe visit the famous tail of the dragon.
