DISCLAIMER: If your scalp is getting to the point where it burns/itches, that means you shouldn't be going that long because your scalp is getting too much build up to the point where it's harming your skin and hair follicles by clogging them up. This is normal after we've been exposed to years and years of shampooing ourselves. The safest and probably best procedure would be to stretch the periods of time in which you can go without washing your hair for as long as you can. Little by little. I chose to just suck it up and go straight to 0 usage, definitely not the best choice since my scalp is literally peeling right now, but it's going to heal back, healthier than ever.
Last June I had a 1/8 inch buzz cut and it was also the last time I used shampoo. When I recently asked people about my hair, they said that it looks either completely normal, or if anything, better than normal. Also, I don't use any other hair products whatsoever.
There are a few (highly expensive) ones which have minimal and natural ingredients, and they're good for the hair health, those actually can even positively influence things like recovering hair loss etc. However, we don't need none of it - is the conclusion I've come to after a whole bunch of research. Most of the conditioners won't have this positive effect either. There will be examples in real life you'll see which don't have hair problems though they use all these products, good for them (for now) but sooner or later the damage builds up, mine is actually quite damaged already now. I'll follow the procedure I've studied and I'll let time show the results (update in 6 months or so)
