- The South Korean captain and wing spiker really understand to play intelligent and efficient volleyball with a good mixture of spikes and short cuts. Yeon Koung Kim scored 77 points in total during the Volleyball Olympic Qualification Tournament 2019. Unhappily, the rival teams of Pool E were too strong for South Korea. They will have another shot in January 2020 to qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020!

She's such a smart player. I have been watching her since 2012 Champions League. For her it's not always about power. She uses her own tactics which is always fascinating to watch. Simple power fades when once you age but smart players last long. Kim is one of them.

She's aging but still can be relied upon even in her club team at Turkey. Even she's not productive in spiking, she is amazing on the floor defense, digging and blocks.. Not to mention her leadership and motivation to her team mates. She's the best for me...
She is not productive in spiking? I think she is still great and productive, yes. Just not as much a dynamo as she was once, not as fast per herps, but still amazing.
I think she's hired to defend and lead LOL. Even though she's no longer the same KYK at London Olympics, she still got the best open spiker in the recently concluded fivb club championships
@@nandokgg what i meant here is there were times in a game that she's not productive in spiking but she redeemed it by defense (blocks and digging) and her amazing serves. as the time she already adjusted her spikes, she's unstoppable. i love KYK so much.

A lot has been saying Larson is/was the best all around player, but Kim Yeon Koung is just way better. Larson get medals because she has constant help from the team, which is good. But Kim Yeon Koung CARRIES the team and the team still making it farther than the expected medal contenders, now that's not just leadership but being an ALL-AROUND PLAYER

They really can't beat Russia. They'll be in Olympics because they'll beat the lower & weaker asian teams. Nay.
Korea almost beat Russia though. South Korea was without their setters they had practiced with, Lee Da-yeong and An Hye-jin, so they had to urgently bring in two other setters who were on their vacation for their off-season. The setters and spikers hadn't had much time to practice together, and it was Russia's home court, with an overwhelming crowd support for Russia. But Korea still almost beat Russia 3-0.
Yes, South Korea lost in that game, and kudos to Russia for getting their ticket to the 2020 Olympics, but I think the game proved that Korea deserves their place in the Olympic stage. So if they do beat 'weaker' asian teams and earn their spot in the Olympics, then have some respect for them because the team deserves it.
@@byte2897 everytime korea is beaten, they always throw reasons for reasons. Accept that they are weaklings. Even if they stole 2 sets from Russia, the fact that Russia was able to score from 17-23 up to the set, it means they can always do what they need in order to stop & defeat koreanopols.

But there were times that Korea beat Russia.. Pls review previous games Korea vs Russia from 2012 onwards. and what's amazing was, they had their superstars on the floor (like Kosheleva and the rest) but they were beaten by Kim Yeon Koung.. So don't be too much confident that Russia can;t be beaten by Korea..
@@rioline391 but note that when it's for Olympic qualifications, Russia will never let it slip that easily. They may lose on minor occasions to korea but on the big events like this, Russia will flex its muscle. Plus the fact that this team is not just a one-man team makes them more deadly.
