I really liked the EP as a whole. She said the whole thing was her doing what she wanted to do and it turned out fantastic. "Psycho" is my personal favorite. Most talented Idol out there right now in my opinion.
What I love about this song is that it really feels like Soyeon, and I don't mean Gidle Soyeon, I mean Jeon Soyeon. Overall it feels cute and fun but if you stop and pay attention to some phrases it feels deep.
As a person in their 20 myself I feel like we are stuck between thinking like a teen and an adult. Like, you just came out of your teen, so you still have your cute and innocent side, just wanting to have fun ("sun is beam beam" "the eath goes ddi-ro-ri-ro") but you're also entering the adult world (welcome to adult world") and you start to realize things like "love is fuck" "is hard to befriend with everyone in this steaming mad city" "I wanna be hot but I don't wanna sweat" "it always takes ages to earn and second to lose", things you used to romanticize in your teens.
I feel like this song summarize life at 20s perfectly
Actually Lee Youngji is featured in one of the songs in her album. Her appearance her is something like Lee Hyori appearing on Jessi’s Nunu Nana
It sounds bright and happy. Looking beneath I don't think it is. Or rather, it's like "world sucks but let's enjoy ourselves while we can" kind of thing. And if you listen to the album (Windy), it gets darker and darker with each song. It's one of those albums that should definitely be listened to in order.
Don't feel under pressure with all the comebacks. Don't feel like you have to film 24/7 or "catch up" or anything. Film when you want to, we'll still watch. There will be quite moments within Kpop where you'll be up to speed. Don't worry! Nice to have you back PD xx
What I love about this song and the album in general is if you watch the BTS of her producing the album, this is what she loves to make and release. Its 100% a selfish album to Soyeon and I'm here for it. She said herself she spends so much effort and work into producing Idle's tracks to give all the girls success and play their strengths but it does tend to put her in a corner of always being the bad ass. As a whole, it works but for her to do something she truly loves without having to think about anyone else is great.

I REALLY hope you ever have the time to hear her full EP. It has such versatility, she went with a catchy song with nonsense words as a title track in hope it would stick but the other songs go in such diffrent directions. I would love to hear your thoughts on the rest of it! ^^

I'm the complete opposite in every way. I really like the way she uses the onomatopoeia, as you said it's an adult song but she's being cute and childish, to show the dissonance she's feeling when coming into the adult world. Also, the lyrics describe a lot of her surroundings as weather (wind, sun, temperature), as a metaphor for different factors of life, which I think is a really smart way to make both a summer song but also song about life in general. That being said, although I like the lyrics, and enjoy the rock elements in the chorus, this song isn't something I've added to my playlist or listened to a lot. I wonder how you'll feel about it in a couple of months!
Welcome back PD! This song is still such a bop to me, it's so fun and catchy Soyeon did great [also this dropping right after the Soojin news is having me in my feels]
I was also a bit surprised at the style of this track (and I usually love this style, too), but then I remembered the bits of seen where we see the real Soyeon and this is a lot like the real Soyeon. She clearly had a great deal of fun in the MV, too. What Soyoen has made for (G)I-dle is awesome - just different.

Some info about this:
-Indeed, like you said, this is Soyeon's welcoming herself to her adult life, thus some lyrics like drinking beer, gulp the whole coffee, and even the flipping off. She said on her interview with Studio Grr and her documentaries "Blooming Windy Day", this album is the story of the 24-year old Soyeon. She actually said that this album is her outlet to what she really wanted to create since with IDLE, she have to take into consideration other member's parts, as well as their success.
-Soyeon's worried about this album since she will be really going outside the box of not only GIDLE, but kpop standards as well, as we saw on the lyrics. Oh her other songs, she created some new "flavours" that we never heard from her.
-The bbi-yong bbi-yong is I believe to be "beep beep" like the red light sirens, thus the hand gestures on that part. And as you said, ddi-ro-ri-ro is about the Earth spinning, thus the trippy revolving world.
-She always used SUMMER to tell her youth, thus the story of DUMDi DUMDi, and she wanted to tell that here. She wanted to be "hot" during her youth, doing things she never experienced, and to have a burning career.
-She chose the fast food concept because during our youth, we want something that is "tasty" and "fast", something that may not be healthy, but indulging to eat. However, contradicting to this story/concept, she chose the off blue and yellow for a fast food so that it will be unappetizing to the customers, and they will go out immediately, since as we can see, she's just playing, not serving customers, and even fighting with them. Basically she doesn't want to work.
-Soyeon handled this project hands on, from marketing to production to promotion. They opened WINDY BURGER in the cafeteria, have the album box like a fast food kiddie meal, and the track list like a menu. They even sold burgers without veggies.
-On the 1st chorus, her rocker outfit was inspired by Avril Lavigne. I think this was showing "rebel stage" since her burger band have veggies on them, and she hates veggies. They showed a short clip about her throwing the lettuce away on the Teaser of WINDY.
-Lee Youngji is featured in her last track "Is This Bad B****** Number?", along with BIBI. Check out their live performance on Dingo.
Love the rock and roll vibe to Beam Beam. It's a ton of fun to listen to and went immediately into my "pump me up" playlist.

To be honest my expectations for Soyeon's solo album were a little different and I didn't click with most of the songs as they are not really my style, however is still love the album as it is clearly exactly what she wanted to do and that's the most important, what art is all about. Bad bitch number is straight up fire tho

PD, Soyeon is like this! She is different as we can see her on G idle. This is the concept that she likes and thats why this is different of her other work. Thats why she debuted with Jelly and now we have Beam Beam

They present it as first/debut mini album.
So they still consider Jelly as fer debut and this is like a big comeback than in usual cases, where an idol comes back more regularly and not just debut and have nothing more for couple years.

I was worried that something personal was going on; regardless I am ecstatic that you’re back and that as far as you’ve shared you are just as gorgeous and wonderful as usual. Thank you for your commentary and hard work, and I know even if it was an intentional break I would be happy for your overall wellbeing. I am not the biggest fan of the repeat structure for the song, but her lyrics fit my life right now as a college student going back to school at the end of summer, just after working at a restaurant during the break. I have had to adult more this summer than ever before (moving out, bills, full-time job), but I also get why you might see the lyrics as not super inspiring.

I'm happy with BEAM BEAM because anything else I wanted or expected from Soyeon she gives us in the B-Tracks on WINDY. (And she gives us things there we'd never expect). The album as a whole feels like all the aspects of Soyeon's personality, which she cleverly advertised beforehand when she did the three-versions of Soyeon "interview". So yeah, BEAM BEAM is Soyeon's cuter side, and I'm fine with it because we have PSYCHO and BAD B**** coming up.

I wasn't expecting something in style of her (G)i-dle production, but I hoped for something even more different from (G)i-dle and Jelly.
It is not Jelly-ish that much, but still there is its flavor, so it did not leave me speechless as it could have...
But after all it is a really interesting song and I listen to it time to time.

Just a few observations, I feel like when it comes to (G)-IDLE especially Soyeon, you are (unintentionally?) strict or picky when it comes to analyzing their music which is okay coz it’s your opinion but I just noticed it. Idk I may be wrong and most of their music isn’t your style but maybe because they’re the one who’s making their music so you are more paying attention to it which is completely understandable. Just want to say it out there. Yeah she really love using onomatopoeia words in her songs since it’s catchy and I think it was made for koreans more since they can understand what it means compared to international fans. I’m so glad you liked it. We are really devastated right now due to the unpleasant news that we got so I really want to shift my mind to something that will make me feel better. Thanks for this!

Welcome back PD! This song was a lot more pop than I expected from Soyeon, but I like it. Check the burger art on her nails at the beginning. I missed it the first 5 or 6 times.
This is exactly what I expected. Even with Jelly and Idle song soyeon already showed her personal style. And with the name of the album, Windy, referring to her alter ego, it was obvious to me where she was gonna go.
