The mountains of Scotland are so old and scoured by the icy-ages while the mountains of Western Cananda are relatively young ( and pointy ) There are so many places where one cannot see another human and that canbeabbit scary, sometimes. Anyhoos, bravo for your adventure and I hope you've inspired the traveller that resides in everyone. Car-parks kinna blow but such is the price of success, eh ? 6

This is a great video Erin....I get up at 4ish every morning, even when we were holidaying in Scotland, i was up and about by 5am, i love that time of the morning, but being from Queensland Australia, its best to get things done early... Really liked this video
So, I'm watching your walk, thinking "wow, it always amazes me how much Scotland looks like Alaska." And then I see you walking a path in the wilderness and I'm thinking, "OMG she's out on that trail by herself - what about bears?!" And then I had to google whether or not Scotland has bears. And then I start wondering what it's like to go hiking and not having to worry about getting eaten. And our weather is crazy too. It's -26C here before the wind chill. And that's how my evening went - how about yours??? LOL
In all my years of tramping up and down mountains that's the best load I've seen in a bergan! If I turned up on a call out with a hair brush (I've next to no hair) and a a make-up bag (although some would say anything to disguise my face would be a good thing) I'd get laughed at! You're right, mountains make you feel better. It's always been my way of sorting my head out. Get yourself a bit higher up the road to Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin, bigger day out but, well worth the effort
If I'm not filming i don't take them :p. My bag was light! I did Loch Lomond's Ben Vorlich. Although it was pretty foggy and rainy haha, brutal. Haven't done the Loch Earn one.
I have to admit, I've been feeling rather down lately for quite some time now but watching your vlogs makes me feel better. They are so nice and positive to me. It's also kinda weird as I found your channel only because I wanted to learn speaking with a Scottish accent (it's always fascinated me and it sounded cool soI've always wanted to do that but never really got around to it, until now) and I wanted to have some basis. But now, not only do I learn the accent (and also about Scotland itself as I intend to go there one day, so it'll be helpful) but also have fun watching your videos and I can actually feel happy a wee bit again. Thank you.
May you be happier still - from one who's blowed the blues. One unsolicited piece of advice, though. While a fake Scottish accent may charm the unknowing, the real ones will see right thru you ! Just be your own, honest self and they will welcome you wi' open arms. T'da guid place, once. Never will forget it. Yeah, it does help a little to learn the general flow of the Scottish way of speech. When in doubt, add more whiskey ! You'll soon get the hang ovvit !
I'll be fine, in the end, possibly, one day. Hopefully. And well, I'm not expecting myself to actually be able to do the Scottish accent so well that Scots couldn't tell something's not right. English isn't my native language and I've been learning British accent for a dozen of years so it's kinda a huge difference between that and the Scottish one. It happens when you don't walk much and are starting to get older (65), which the Veterans Affair hospital says it's pretty lousy. Can't believe I forgot my muff! Yeah for sure! It's IonaAdventuring's group, but there's also a few people on Instagram who when chatting to them last year, we were like "aye we need to do a walk!" and life got in the way. So this is the year.
@@mountainneko buzzards are nicknamed tourist eagles as they're often mistaken for golden eagles by tourists and walkers. You'll rarely hear an Eagle, but buzzards much more vocal.

Love your comments on it being "cold." We have just done almost 2 weeks between -45, and -50C where I live!! Many are out there walking because they can't get their cars started. The cold keeps the midges down though!

And the Scottish scenery looked amazing! Plus good for you for achieving one of your 2020 goals! It's good to see you happy and outdoors too. Despite the interruptions you seemed a wee bit calmer. Nature does have a habit of revivifying a person. I think there's just too much wilderness in some of us to be completely content indoors or in big cities. Interesting a place in Scotland is named Callander and you went there in January! Blue Monday is the name of a song by Fats Domino, its a good song for all those that love 5o's rock n Roll. I wonder if the name was taken from the song? Love the backpack, so great looking. Love the Place; its so beautiful! Walking is a good way to keep healthy and it good for weigh lose t and keep the blood flowing. So weather in town our out in nature keep up the walking; its one of the most healthy things you can do for your body!

You have an exceptionally honest personality, so it is a truly reassuring experience to listen to you, as you teach me not to be afraid of open self-expression. You could become a brilliant counsellor or personal coach. It is therapeutic simply to listen to you. As for the nature takes, they were really appealing and enjoyable as well, but perhaps a longer uncut take of 30 seconds or more while you were walking quietly on the trail would have even improved the experience. Trespass gave you a lot of gear for a winter walk but didn't give you any poles? I live in Somerset and flimsy Trespass gear would be ripped to shreds on one walk. Bramble and barbed wire. I once even ripped a Berghaus fleece on its' first outing. Summer is on its' way and you can't go about on a walk where I live with bare legs below the knees either. Unless you like nettle rash. However my local hill, about an hours walk from my garden gate, is a mere 956 ft. Can't wait to use up all my year's holiday in one go back in Scotland once the lockdown ends and freedom of movement is restored.

Early in the video, it looked like 2 loch being overlooked, a small one and a larger one further on? If so, what are they called?
What gear do you need for walking in snow conditions? Do you ever collect water from the steams for drinking ? I’m love it when you talk a lot.
Crampons and ice axe. I don't, no but know lots of people who do and filter it.
I realize that there is less insect activity in cold weather, but do you use an insect repellent on your walks?

Trespass gave you a lot of gear for a winter walk but didn't give you any poles?
I live in Somerset and flimsy Trespass gear would be ripped to shreds on one walk. Bramble and barbed wire. I once even ripped a Berghaus fleece on its' first outing.
Summer is on its' way and you can't go about on a walk where I live with bare legs below the knees either. Unless you like nettle rash.
However my local hill, about an hours walk from my garden gate, is a mere 956 ft.
Can't wait to use up all my year's holiday in one go back in Scotland once the lockdown ends and freedom of movement is restored.
