"Врагов надо истреблять..." -Хантер. Friends, I advise you to complete the game in Russian in order to feel exactly the emotions that the authors laid down.
This song is so badass in such a strange way. I mean, its depressing, and gives a sense of hopelessness as you make your way to the tower, yet it makes you feel like a badass in a way. This is by far my favorite track in the game.
It's a martyrdom song. You know this crucial mission against all odds will lead to your death but you have accepted your fate as it will save those who live.
"The goal is close by, and nothing can stop us now. We win every encounter. Hunter was right when he said that there never was and never be a more terrifying predator on Earth than human is."
“Miller and I left the train, then climbed up the tunnel to the Korolev Performance Hall. We were close to Ostankino Tower now. In the frozen streets, we joined the other Rangers in their furious battle that began my story...” -Artyom (2033)
Zombiemouse123 They sold their lives dearly for the survival of their friends and family. That's the best end a Metro dweller can hope for against the mutant tide.
"I wont lie to you; this will be a nasty fight. But think of your loved ones in the station - any beast which gets through our lines will show them no mercy. So lock and load!"
I rember my first playthrough, zero knowledge of the metro books, only that it was a depressing game set in post nuclear Moscow subways. I remember going up the lift and hearing miller go on about how they could use all the weapons at d6 to "rebuild" and suddenly I realized the real purpose of Khan. He wasn't just another character to escort you through a weird part of the metro, nor was he just a ranger. He was a prophet, there to warn you about rushing into things. I realized there, in the elevator, that I was making the wrong choice and that there was really nothing to stop what I already had set into motion. You think you're saving your station, but you're really dooming an entire civilization, if not your species.
Just revisting Metro's OST once again and man every time I listen it's so damn powerful. 7 years on it remains one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. It perfectly captures the game and Arytom's journey to do his part in the dead world. (Can't wait for Exodus!)
honestly if theres one song from the soundtrack that represents the whole game, that embodies the spirit of Metro 2033, this is it. I still remember when I was a kid, wondering what this game was, I looked up a walkthrough of the first mission, I heard this, and was just blown away.
Same bro, I remember watching my father playing this when I was little and I kept asking what game this is and finnaly, years later, this year I re-discovered this franchise and I was finnaly able to play Metro 2033. Back then I even saw one of these visions while watching my and it looked so real to me back then.
Good track, very simple and fits in with the mission . I like how it starts in the loading screen, then fades away, before fading back in once the tower comes back into view. Epic
My brother likes this song from metro 2033 so much and he really likes asking me to put it on for him since he misses listening to it and it makes him feel happy when he hears it
In a world full of death and horror. Few men are capable to move onwards and even thrive. The quitar and the drums embodies the men of grit and the rest of the instruments create the hostile world around them.
I think it´s the perfect theme for the Ostankino Tower in the game, because it feels badass but it also feels like you´re in the last 30 minutes of the game, it kinda makes me feel that everything is about to end
This is a clearing out kind of theme both in preparation for it and the act itself. Going room-by-room floor-by-floor until your enemy is dead. No grandiose noise just subtle cold death.
although surrounded by all those beasts in such weather struggling to reach the tower a hundred meters far, miller and Artyom represent humanity's potential and glory of old age. It's just glorious T_T
This really has this feeling of a last ditch desperate mission to just buy humanity some reprive. It's not a glorious quest because the age of glory died long ago. It's the age of survival, a last act of defiance by man against the new world he created.
Cucumber Man They are kindred spirits though. Not in design, but those slavs have a certain attitude in their post-apoc sci-fi horror stories that is unique. Both S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro have it. So do the books Metro 2033 and Roadside Picnic.
I love that this plays as the splash title screen. Too bad most people won’t really get to enjoy it since all you do is press one button but I hope enough people got to enjoy it
Honestly nothing else comes to mind except Artyom Ascending the tower, and the song gives off the smell of "This is it, this is the last mission, and possibly the hardest trial for our protagonist." And I love that, that right there is how a soundtrack should feel.
Patryk Juzeluk No you're thinking of Ranger Hardcore, although for all intensive purposes your semi-right. Both tear the player to shreds. Neither game on Hardcore knows the meaning of mercy.
Metro Exodus is more about finding a new home and a new hope, while 2033 and Last Light are about the survival of mankind. There is no hope to get a better situation, they only try to not make it worse in 2033 and Last Light. The soundtracks from all the games are perfect for their own game.
I'm replaying the series while also planning the end of a table top RPG I am hosting for friends. This will probably serve as one of the main story ending/epilogue songs should my party go down a path that results in the breakout of an unwinnable war.
