    The 757 has taken me on some amazing holidays and each time I board it and listen to those RB211 engines, I not only smile on the outside, I smile on the inside.
    Love em.
    Jet 2 is an amazing airline and amazing company.

    I flew on this exact aircraft when it was nearly brand new to the Jet2 fleet, I was a kid back then, ironically scared of flying at the time, but I distinctly remember hearing the RB211s spool up and absolutely loving it. Helped kick off a love for flying which I have carried into my adulthood! Great to see this ol' gal still going, even if it isn't for much longer with the A320neos imminent.

    Jet2 are not a low cost airline anymore, they are now classed as a holiday airline, much like TUI with whom they directly compete with, yes they also compete with easyJet and Ryanair on some routes too, but today they are no longer a low cost airline

    We miss the 757s at Leeds Bradford! Agree about Faro, flew there with Jet2 in April, managed to get on one of their other relics on one leg, the 737-300 also 30+ years old.
    It's a great city to spot planes all day, perfect view of the airport from the bars at the far side of the harbour.
    The 727 (9Q-CMC) next to the 757 in the video has an interesting history. Its been there since 2007, abandoned by the Democratic Republic of Congo!

    Yet another amazing video. The 757 is also one of my favorite aircraft and having the privilege of working on many belonging to various airlines many years ago when I worked as a loader for an inflight catering company in Bristol , it appears Jet2 take great care of their aircraft it looked amazing with the highly polished leading edges and engine cowls.

    If you liked the flight in the “discount 757” that is all that matters! I personally would not use it if there are other options. I do love the 757 airliner (especially for its distinctive looks sitting high for engine clearance), it reminds me of a big bug! What is great for pilots is if you are checked out to fly a 757 you can also pilot the 767. They are that similar. Thanks for the peek at the plane spotting venue. You don’t see anything as large as that, that I am aware of, in the USA due to security I would believe. Thanks again - Jim

    Such beautiful planes. Sadly, I've never been on one. When I see these low-cost seats and grungy food, I'm reminded of Bob Newhart's line from his standup - "We've eliminated what we in the airline business call 'Frills and Extras'. Things like maintenance, radar, and a bunch of complicated instruments in the cockpit." 😆

    I recently flew on the 757-300, stretched version. It takes about 20 minutes to deplane the people in the back of the plane. Hope they didn't have tight connections. I think the 757 really shines in domestic first class...during boarding, you turn left, everyone else goes right...so you get to sit in peace and quiet, sipping the welcome drink, with no one walking past and brushing your seat, while the economy passengers fill up the back.

    Flew many 757s in the past and even 10-20 years ago they always looked outdated and too small specially for flights over 4-5 hours (even 7 on NY South America routes!!) Unknown to me at the time I ended up catching the last of a type or rather unique to the fleet of it's airline (Monarch) ; a DC10 way back in 1997 from MAN to ACE for Chrimbo. Then, decades later I visited MAN and still didn't realise until I did some research, and was gobsmacked to learn that the Monarch front section shown at 11.37 was from that very plane, and at this very airport!! Would love to have stepped on it again but never saw it at the time.

    Jet2 used to fly the 757 seasonally from Leeds to NY/Newark around Christmas. Can you imagine 7 to 8 hours in those seats, overnight? I have flown Jet2 a lot between AMS and LBA, and a few times between LBA and Paris. LBA - AMS was Jet2's first destination but they pulled the plug, giving KLM a monopoly (again). They are perfectly fine for short haul, with a plus that they are a little more generous on checked bag weight and size, and offer decent leg room for a LCC. Thanks for sharing this video.

    • @airedition
      @airedition ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, sure, but if the sovereign state is called the UK and that’s made up of countries with their own names, it’s reasonable to expect that they’d be used interchangeably. Maybe a petition to the government to simplify the naming is in order. What would the reaction have been if I called it Great Britain? 😉

    • @ScottishT
      @ScottishT ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airedition it's the same in every way mate, countries such as Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are no less than Sweden or Norway. However England is often used with the UK or GB interchangeably. The UK is a political union. It might not matter to many but it's not a lot to ask, not wanting to criticise just a wee heads up😁

Should be on a Martinair MD11, however due to last minute change they used a 767 so the flight became overbooked. With four hours delayed they ferried the remaining pax with the Dutchbird 757. On the way back to Amsterdam I flew on the Martinair MD11... what a majestic plane whas that. Boarded at the last door, right under the tail engine.
