Maybe THAT's the goal for the next character? Be Byzantium and restore the Roman Empire, essentially dividing Europe between Scandinavia, Britan and the Romans - all empires you've made.
Two things I suggest purely on entertainment value even if it doesn’t make much sense.
1. Would be to try to bring Asatru back from the dead. Only because Catholicism is so entrenched itd be a challenge. but I don’t think that’s possible if there’s literally no one who worships it that you can convert to. Unless a monument expedition has an event I’m unaware of. Probably better suited to a custom character in this run at this point
2. Would be to make as many kings and Dukes of your dynasty and family outside of de jure Scandinavia independent rulers of your family. That way the region is more “chaotic” with extremely conflicting interests and claims. You’ll be able to have something to do as an adventurer with that. It’ll also keep the borders interesting outside of Scandinavia eventually exploding. It’ll also make Jihads and Crusades more “balanced” with a larger pool of knights and soldiers to band together. And finally could be funny to see which one of your children or grandchildren end up the guy in Europe with the biggest hat in a generation or two
Ah, the rise of Jousting competitions in tournaments, the single deadliest plague upon the noble classes since the Black Death! 😛
RE: Fully connected African section of ERE - you remember correctly, this is a relatively recent development. Byzantium is actually doing quite well at the moment, though I suspect that will last only as long as the current emperor, who looks to have completed a Holy Legend (based on their Saint trait) interestingly enough.
Since this character is getting pretty old, how far off are you from potentially turning Scandinavia into an administrative government?
I think you have land in Italy and I would like to see you play as a conqueror I don't know how you become one but I would love to see it.
I was wondering why you don't carpet siege. You have two stacks of siege engines so you could split your army in two stacks instead of a single doom stack and siege two holdings at once if the enemy army is far away. It requires a bit more micromanagement but your wars would be over a lot more quickly.
