  • @EnricoGerominProd
    @EnricoGerominProd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    That's very nice.
    I see few "problems" as fillmaker:
    -At least fhd 1920x1080 max resolution ( maybe @800fps)
    -Compatible with other mounts like EF, or better, E mount - many fillmakers use EF mounts because It's easy to adapt to sony E or other mirrorless mounts and have good and fast optics for cheap. (maybe offer a version with the EF mount-even if the sensor si smaller than aps-c size, es can add metabones speedbooster or similar)
    -Log or cine gamma profile - like in sony cameras
    -Better battery - many filmmaker have the np-f sony batteries that can be changed fast and easy, they have many sizies (eg: np-f550 up to np-f970) and they are cheap.
    Thank you for your time

    This is fantastic! I love how many features you integrated into the system and how well designed everything is. Also, I love that you have twilight sparkle on the silkscreen, I hope you always keep that on there, its such a nice touch :3

    • @0xbenedikt
      @0xbenedikt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep it for your prototypes, but for the actual production run, off with it!

    • @spectrHz
      @spectrHz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      aww I actually like it there, I understand most people probably wouldn't want it there on a finished product but then again, its all up to him :)

    • @0xbenedikt
      @0xbenedikt 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, it is. Opinions differ when it comes to things like this. While I truly think he made an amazing job, as I am quite aware of what is going on in the background (all the work that went into machining (and the creation of the CAD files), the PCB layout, the years of prototyping and the huge amount of money he spent). But for me, this completely unnecessary silkscreen addition ruins it quite a bit. He must be extremely into MLP to put such artwork onto something that took so much effort and time to make. I quite dislike the MLP fandom and can't get away from the feeling that he just put it there to spread the word and force MLP onto a completely different thing. What I mainly dislike about the MLP fandom is the aggressiveness with which they put avatars, fanart, and stickers everywhere. I can't understand what is behind this fandom but I simply find it weird and odd. However, I am absolutely not trying to start another fight about MLP. This is just my personal opinion and I am not saying anybody is wrong about liking it. But I simply don't think this belongs onto a 2500$ commercial product which is quite a reasonable price for how much effort went into it.

    • @spectrHz
      @spectrHz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand what you mean, but I don't think he is trying to force MLP on anyone, honestly, I didn't even know he was into it until I saw it on the silkscreen. He doesn't say he is anywhere and none of his logos/avatars show any hints that he is. Although, most of what you mention happens in all fandoms, you also see anime pictures plastered everywhere on forums, and superheroes, video games, etc. Certainly a lot of people in the MLP fandom have an "I don't care what you think" mentality, however, tesla500 definitely does not present himself as that kind of fanatic. He just really likes it and doesn't try to hide it.

    • @0xbenedikt
      @0xbenedikt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      SpectrHz Indeed he does not force it on anybody. However he has made or just actively hosts this website which indirectly highlights how strange this fandom can be krontech.ca/bronycan2015/
      Many adults enjoy watching kids shows and I don't think either that there is anything wrong. Many parents enjoy watching with their children. But except for MLP nobody goes into the public and actively maintains a fandom which might not be the best thing to do. The best would be to simply enjoy the shows at home and not make a whole fandom. Wait, this is the internet. I forgot.

  • @etelmo
    @etelmo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I would mention that having all the connectors on a daughter board is a *must*. I can't count the number of black magic pocket cinema cameras which were destroyed due to the HDMI being on the main board. It means when a connector is abused and ruins the board it doesn't require a new main board (which has the CPU attached, at least in this case the sensor is on a daughter board already - the BM camera had the HDMI on the same board as the sensor).
    This isn't optional at all, it's a must for this type of camera, sometimes all it takes is someone brushing past with an external monitor plugged in and it will rip the tracks off the board and ruin it.

    My my my, that's exactly what I need. Between yours and Taofledermous' channel I see enough examples to get pretty excited. I see renting a high speed camera as very annoying. Yours would be within the buy range. May I ask some silly questions though. I didn't actually see the W value above 1280. Does it go higher? And will there be any cats in the production facility? :) Nice nice work on your project. Quite amazing.

      Over 3 years later, no one has even tried to compete, I'm astonished! I was expecting a major competitor by now. I think we pushed the price so low no one sees any reason to try.

      @@tesla500 I've been looking at high speed video cameras and for my limited budget, the 1.4 fits my price range and does everything I'd want the camera to do. (I'm just a technical nerd who loves playing with equipment, so it's for my own home use.) Pity we're all on lock-down, because I'll just have to wait... (Insert smiling face.)
      The consumer based cameras that can shoot high speed are cool, but just too limited for experimenting.
      Also, thanks for your response.

    That slick case tho! Man this looks soo nice, i mean, for a production ready piece, it's really polished, and i'm not talking about the shine either. I've seen far, far, worst looking products. Hope that the Kickstarter gets a lot of attention because this is a special camera. Love the name too.

      About the cables, I think it was HP that had a kit for their older laptops that allowed operation with the machine pulled to pieces. Essentially extension cords for connections. Consider maybe getting some done?? Essentially you need a ribbon cable and a connector. Not really that complicated.

    Wow. Just wow. How come the majors like Sony or Canon, etc can't do this? Organizational inertia I guess. Kudos to you for getting this so far along. You should send your video to Sony USA , et al with a big "Buy Me Out Now While You Still Can" note & watch the offers roll in. Congrats. If I had any money I'd buy two! What a great product demo!

    That is a gorgeous camera, and I can't wait to see the disruption it brings to the industry. I'm not much into high speed videography myself, but I'd love to see a more consumer level point-and-shoot with the same open source design philosophy. I love the idea of folks being able to write their own software to add functionality, considering it runs such a ubiquitous operating system.

    You have my attention! I was hoping you would make your camera available since the first time you demoed it. Great footage, where does it max out for frame rate and resolution?

    • @tesla500
      @tesla500  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Max resolution is 1280x1024 at 1,050fps, you can do higher rates at lower resolution, eg:
      720p 1500fps
      640x480 4400fps
      640x360 6000fps
      640x120 18,000fps
      With this sensor architecture, there's no speed benefit to going below 640 pixels width, but vertical resolution can still be traded for speed all the way down to 1 pixel.

    • @Phoen1x883
      @Phoen1x883 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      How much recording time do you get at those resolutions with the base 8 GB module? Can you increase it with lower color depths from the sensor?

    • @tesla500
      @tesla500  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4 seconds with 8GB RAM. You could potentially boost it to 5 seconds by dropping from 12 bit to 8 bit.

    • @Coldministrator
      @Coldministrator 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So Awesome!
      Does it use regular DDR3 / DDR4 SODIMM memory?
      Also, do you think it would be possible to add a connector that outputs 5V + 12V (maybe via a 2.5mm stereo jack) with enough current to power a 2.5" SSD?
      (would be super useful since it has esata already and if raw video will be availiable with a firmware update a 1TB SSD is probably a reasonable choice)
      I love how this project keeps getting better and better! I can't belive you don't have more subscribers than you do.
      Rock on and keep us updated! :D /)
      (next version with NVMe storage and 1080p ? xD)
