So good, I'm having to take another quick peek. Nelson's win here PROVED the possibilities for home grown female riders like Samantha Fletcher far beyond doubt. Ranks right up there as one of the most exciting races EVER witnessed at Caymanas Park Racetrack there in Jamaica.
We all know that the Jockeys' colony at Aqueduct in New York is one of the toughest in the entire world. That was Diane Nelson's stomping ground. So said, winning a race as this in such a manner is definitely NO SURPRISE. Well, well done.
Nice, smooth ride by Diane Nelson (RIP) aboard Mo Money. Showing what a fine rider she was. Definitely one of the best female riders to come out of the US (Others were Julie Krone & Rosie Napravnik).
Look at the crowd....u can feel the excitement even 28 years later...now racing and in particular our breeding industry has gone to the dogs...rip diane nelson...big up urself rohan.
Its superstakes day bro Big Day, And jockeys came down to ride fr overseas. So that massive crowd wanna see them match skills with our own. I remembered those days very well
@@leongordon1900 yeah..I remember those days as well...I was there...and it emphasises what I.m saying...the state of racing now cannot compare to racing then.
Nice ride the late D Nelson, look how she gets her mount to straighten down the lane . using the whip in right hand the quickly switch to left, pushes him out with yards to go then right hand again. Gem of a ride
Specific to the event - a mad, mad rush for the lead; ground shattering speed as they rolled over on the backstretch; then, bunching up at the 5/16th marker; very wide at the turn - still, the jockey remained COOL, CALM and COLLECTED guiding the winner with strong hands and deliberate intent. Powerful show of extraordinary jockey's intelligence and talent. Well, well done.
I was at the track when she won on proceed beating percy Williams, then migrated to new York and saw her beating some good jockeys at aqueduct ....she knows how to ride
Simply saying she was a good rider would be good enough....Why the need to say she is better than many of our own??.... Just a nasty, bad habit of putting down others to put up another!!
She's about 8 wide at the top of the stretch mo money doing more works .. good ride from diane Nelson.. nowadays Jockeys need to look at those old tapes to improve their craft..honestly i think nowadays Jockeys are Drunk
I do hope that home-bred talent like the sensational Samantha Fletcher, Melissa Ward, Andree Powell, Tamika Lawrence, Abigail Able and Natalie Berger have paid very close attention to this event. Mind you, NONE of the ladies mentioned strike me as starry-eyed or wayward or "business jockey" types. Give them ALL the time they need to start bearing fruit. Great future ahead with them. Fertile ground.
A lot of jockeys weren't able to bring Mo' Money around the quarter bend like she did. I'm quite sure those riders are physically stronger than her and it goes to show that it requires special skills to get the job done when it comes to race riding and the handling of certain horses. Trainer Roy Jackson must have been really proud of her!!!! I believe Anderson Ward from Barbados rode Walnut Hill and finished a creditable second for owner Laurence Heffes and trainer Patrick Fong. Cash Your Check was trained by Percival Tomlinson and the genuine and consistent Perillo, beaten more by the distance than by anything else, was trained by Adin "Dreadie" Williams. Katy Sweeney rode Open Secret for Wayne Parchment. Sweeeeet times it were on Red Stripe "Super Day!!!!" ☺️
Diane Nelson's victory here was an obvious WAKE-UP CALL to those who aren't as committed to their craft as should be. Put another way, a lady as this from the New York circuit - Aqueduct - can easily put our apprentices to shame. Name the time and place, then - consider it done. I'm just sayin'.
I remember one day I had one dollar and I put it a horse name confident with jockey vasel najair right before the they said James long replace najair and i was worried because I never knew this rider was but the commentator said on the outside confident burst out the pack like a bullet out of gun twelve to one upset paid 26$ man i was so happy that day even though i only got half of the 26$

@pelorusjack5461: Will racing at Caymanas ever recapture the prestige and preeminence it once enjoyed?
@duenpagon1896 Not even the optimist would believe that it can, bro😁
