If Smith was illegally appointed and the case was dismissed in Florida, then the same should happen in the J6 case. This will be overturned easily, a special counsel appointed by the president has well established precedent. The judge is just doing this to delay the case until after the election, which worked as the appeal process will cause enough of a delay.
It's not gone yet. I'm sure this will be appealed, and if it's overturned, it will be given to a new judge who won't be afraid to move forward with the case.

Uh, we have had many special counsels appointed by both Republican and Democrat administrations for decades, and the lawfulness of using special counsels has been upheld multiple times by our Supreme Court. This goes all the way back to Nixon and Watergate. Look it up.
There was nothing unlawful about Garland's appointment of Jack Smith. And this ruling will be overturned but Cannon has already successfully delayed this case (the indictment was 18 months ago!) so, yeah, you win but justice was not served here.
Trump and his lawyers signed an affidavit that they had returned all the classified material he had taken home to Mar-A-Lago. Only problem was he still held a lot of classified documents - oops. That led to the search warrant by the FBI and the indictment. If he had simply returned all the docs we wouldn't be arguing about this, but he willfully retained those docs and even instructed his workers to move the boxes to other locations in Mar-A-Lago, i.e. he tried to hide them.
Jack Smith can go chase ambulances now.

The courts have affirmed this for at least 30 years. Cannon is using a technicality to dismiss the case. Garland could just hire Smith to work around this. This decision will end up being reversed on appeal. It would also be grounds for having Cannon removed from the case.

I don't know about that. The SCOTUS ruling was immunity for crimes committed while he was in office. This case was for obstruction that was committed a year after he left office.
The ruling about official acts? I'm not entirely sure how that would apply here, as he committed said crimes when he wasn't president.
@@billc5433President's can choose files to declassify and take with them. They planted fake evidence in this case. Thats automatic dismissal too. All those pictures they took of supposed files had planted documents covers that were not there prior to the raid.
