MAN! Scary seeing waves go right across the deck like that! and being so low in the water you would almost expect to see the whole thing go under with the next wave! AMAZING!
true but the holds have watertight hatches to prevent water from entering and all ships ballast during storm weather so as to limit the effect of the wind and waves. the water that comes on deck either goes back overboard or into the bilge which gets checked using the sounding pipe and pumped regularly. watertight integrity must be maintained at all times.
That's right: any ship filled with water will sink. So let's make sure only the hold gives access to water - as is the case in this movie. The hold is already filled with sand, no problem there. All other parts of this vessel are safely air filled.
Hej! Groeten.
please remember, these ships are fully loaded. there is no more space for water to come in which is why it cannnot be heavier then at this point. also it wont capsize because the waves will simply smash over the deck.
that is how they keep afloat. ships are also built with water tight hatches and doors but that does not mean the ship can go under the water. the waterline markings are for draft and load limiting and when a ship sits lower in the water it is either filled with cargo or ballasted (for example during a storm) and all ships have this capability. anything else i can teach you? amazing because shipping isn't my profession i'm working on oil rigs
its not a normal cargo ship but a riverliner, probably used to transport gravel and sand (heavier then water) they can come below the waterline and still float.
Yeah well it is NOT fake.... it is a dutch beunschip and yeah they have air tight tanks around the cargo hole.. .so they float even completely filled with water. That;s because these ships are built to load pumped up water that contains sand from the bottom of the sea or river. Another ship pupms the water containing the sand into the beunschip until it floods over and still keep on pumping. Because of the fact that sand is more heavy than water the ship gets filled completely with sand.
It is a so called 'beunschip'. It has got a completely sealed off cargo hold. And, most of its skippers think it unsinkable. (Although some of them have been proven wrong...)
This is an open-hold barge. No hatches oer the hold. It is filled with a mix of sand and water. You can look it up on Google using the term "beunschip". Is I can find the time I'll make a diagram for you.
these ships are special built they can pump away water like crazy and they can have the whole carco hole full with water and still dont sink becouse there are still other places on board with air who keeps the ship floating
a ship that goes below the waterline is called a submarine!!! or a semi-submersible which cant be underway when submersed. ships can sit low in the water or sit higher in the water usually lower by mean of ballast during storms but not submersed because it will sink
show me 1 cargo ship that can be filled with water that will float. cargo ships are not designed to transport liquids tankers are, they are designed differently
@ChaseSmithification I don't know but its not that unusual, sometimes they overload them and they can run partially underwater, have seen them like this in the canals here in my town. I don't know how they do it though.
I dont think the weathers that bad, nothing compared to what Ive seen on the Great Lakes. Looks like the ship is over loaded & taking on water. Look how close the waves are to each other, their not big at all. When you get into the big boys, they may be 30-60 yds apart
@@MESSI.HANDPLAYER, there is another video of them coming out of the river into this body of water and its not bad as I said. The boat in the video is a little better than one of the boats the vietmese use on the rivers there. Please reference a video where huge waves are 5 ft apart?? You obviously live in a desert & have no clue on big bodies of water
"can pump away water like crazy" IS NOT true. The pump is only for draining the sand, not for pumping water from the hold. Next time think before you post such nonsense.

nope, not fake, these ship have air chambers in the sides so they can open the bottom to dump the sand or rocks
that is how they keep afloat. ships are also built with water tight hatches and doors but that does not mean the ship can go under the water. the waterline markings are for draft and load limiting and when a ship sits lower in the water it is either filled with cargo or ballasted (for example during a storm) and all ships have this capability. anything else i can teach you? amazing because shipping isn't my profession i'm working on oil rigs
it's not, the schip is designed to be that low in the water. Even in clear waters, the sidewalks can be under water sometimes.
does it sink or what?
where are the waves???
Yeah, kind of cargo submarine!!
not a lot of freeboard left is there?
i hope he does not loose a hatch, or he'll flaunder.

... must be one of those semi-subs.
goed gefilmt
nice bro new Subscribs here
the ship seems to be broken in the middle
Impressive!

This ship is ful of cargo! So the wild weather 'ride' on it!
R u sinking

its some kind of special transport ship, which can lower itself under water, to pick up or place items... i guess

Google: beunschip. You will see.
maybe ist because english is not my first language? how many do you speak?

thanx i will definately look it up
lol :D your ship is sunken
Oh let's forget it. TH-cam doesn't accept URLs

Hahaha, you clearly don't understand where you are talking about! You also dont know what kind of ships these are, this is very normal.

Not true. The built-in air would keep it afloat.
over the ijssel with that weather in our storebro was much more fun
I don't know you can call that a lake - it's salt water.
No.
Is the torpedo tube!!!
And how was that still afloat?
"Meer" means Lake. You just called Lake IJssel Lake.
why do you think i dont know that? its precisely what i was saying, or at least tried to say.. :/
Lol, it's useless to argue such issues with the Dutch. We know what we do.
These waves are still quite high for a lake. This wasn't recorded on sea.
Giants waves!!!
The hold is not 100% waterproof at-it is very dangerous.
dude it is a storm its is build fore it but it is a ship in a storm
I mean IF I can find the time.
i rofled!

Haha in storm. its good wether there.
fake,this is a submarine.

Nothing, absolutely nothing to this little, -Beaufort-Sea-State 4. Nothing to see here folks. Move along now. Move along I say.
overload
You haven't actually seen a real submarine have you? You shouldn't call fake on things you have no idea what they are dude, that's just ignorant.
Dutch container ships ar low on the water.
ever heard of fun?
Nervenkitzel
twin hull.
there are more waves if i poop into my toilet than that !
Bwhahahaha. Lekker geslapen?
"DUMP SCOW"
Clearly fake!!
@apatnapiraso xD

It's a joke xd
Lady Gaga is awesome!!! Clearly fake though!!!
