Bucky, in the original Jibaku-kun (ジバクくん?), is a manga series created by Ami Shibata, published between 1997 and 1999. It received a 26-episode anime adaptation by the Softx Trans Arts studio, originally shown on TV Tokyo between October 1999 and March 2000.
Plot
Somewhere in an unknown dimension, there is a mysterious land called Twelve Worlds. There, humans, monsters and Spirits coexist in harmony. All lives are protected by the princess of the "Pointed Tower", located in the "Zero World". Suddenly, the harmony of the twelve worlds breaks down. The Princess of the "Pointed Tower" is confined in an eternal sleep. After losing the Princess's protection, the monsters are taken out of the chain of life and become uncontrollable. They start attacking humans.
The guardians called "Great Children", or "Great Children" (G.C.) are faced with incidents involving the monsters. The "G.C." they are the only ones capable of restoring harmony and balance to the twelve worlds. Spaak is the best of the group of G.C.s and the object of admiration for all the kids. He learns that the Princess has been confined and World Zero has been invaded. On the way to the Pointy Tower he meets an amazing boy, Bucky. His greatest ambition is to be the ruler of the world. Spaak senses something special in Bucky, and chooses him as his successor. Bucky sets out on his journey to be the best G.C. of the world, and then dominate it. During his journey, Bucky discovers that monsters are controlled by an unknown power, the Poison of Awakening, coming from another dimension. Between one adventure and another, he meets Kai and Pinky, and together they travel to the Pointy Tower.
The story uses two main elements: the twelve worlds and a group of children called "Great Children" ("Great Children"). It is a story of communication between humans, monsters and spirits, describing dreams and friendships of children who want to be G.C. World 0 is not located on Earth. It is composed of the Pointed Tower and the 12 Earths that circle the Tower in a clockwise direction. Above is the sky, below is the ocean. It is a world beyond our imagination. Children can be heroes there, as their hearts are full of dreams; most adults, however, do not have this power because they are past that age.
