I am very fortunate to have found this channel at a time in my life where I am just discovering creativity and art. I had my first exhibition this past weekend. I wanted to say thank you Elliott for the wealth of information and thinking you have contributed to the world.

When you talk about burn out I think that it has to do with some sort of repression of the unconscious self, and that friction causes the artist to resent the work, instead of allowing their natural creativity to come through via their intuition. thank you for the videos!

The convo with Chris is exactly my process: I keep something of a “discard” pile, but not really. Many times I solve conceptual or visual problems in those ideas that I pull and utilize in a current work. I’ve tried to keep a queue, 10-12 sketches, making 5-6 semi-realized ideas, ever evolving with new content that finishes 1-3 pieces on average.
I also find it useful to quickly execute simple thoughts to exorcise them from the front of my mind - I have very intrusive thoughts and mental noise at times. Often it’s as simple as setting a string of profanity in text and laying it on a piece of apparel, then (important part) sending it to someone and having a laugh. Some might feel it’s a waste of time, but it doesn’t take long and really clears my head for more useful thoughts. Especially when copy is important.

In my experience high “flow rate” is the important thing. No stress. Continuous production.

Your work is really compositionally appealing, but what does it really accomplish or say?

Thats a fair point… You’re advocating for a more direct agenda? A clearer program in the work? Thats a fair point.

Super interesting conversation, and insight into your practice and the dialogue you have with critique. I like to use music to focus the mind and remove the distractions of the lived world, the act of putting on the headphones is a way to snap my mind out of the non creative space and refocus on the creative project.
Are you going to try and live stream a future conversation session? I missed the one you did a few episodes back.
