Notice how this baroque music sounds absolutely gorgeous played in a romantic style by a violinist who is not afraid to use plenty of vibrato and occasional portamento?
it sounds heavenly. Ricci's way of performing this piece is from one side very classical, according to the text, no variations or free interpretations. But from the other, he added soul to it so to pierce your own soul through...
in the " Glory of Cremona " there is the Gibson " del Gesú ", where he plays the Hungarian Dance Nr. 17. I talked to him about that violin, and he said, that it is his own violin.
I will explain my previous comment. I grew up with the Ricci recording (glory of Cremona) and liked it a lot. In Nadien's rendition, I admire the finer nuances, the first rate quality and intensity of his vibrato and perfection of intonation. I can not imagine a better performance than his.
@@karlkomec1427 Thank you! By the way, I really appreciate Ricci's Glory of Cremona recording (where this Veracini was taken from) I don't know any other recording of this type, that introduces and shows the character and timbre of all the different violins more clearly.
first time I heard these gentlemen (I'm not playing the violin), but to my ears Ricci is playing in a much higher league, he's really singing. Nadien sounds like a programmed machine, and those overused portamentos are all but "finer nuances".
@@taempe6932 Nadiens portamenti are not overused at all but just wonderful and absolutely supporting the character of the music. I really like the Ricci version, but I think Nadiens is even more expressive and touching. The comparison with a programmed machine is just absurd. Sorry!
at one picture, we see Ricci with his brother, who obviously couldn´t join the tempo, Ruggiero ( maybe at that time still Woodrow Wilson Rich ) devellpped as a violinist. Is he the one, who became a cellist later on ?
красиво играет!
he played very beautifull!
Das ist schon!

Einfach wunderbar, was für ein großartiger Künstler...
Meraviglioso. Il suono ti lascia senza parole.
Lindas fotografías también.

I've heard this played badly so often. What a pleasure to hear it done so beautifully. That includes the piano accompaniment.
Su excelente sonido y su maravilloso vibrato nos llega de manera Magistral.
Beautiful absolutely heavenly.

David Nadien's performance on youtube is far superior to this one in every aspect
Nadien’s is very beautiful for sure - but to say that it’s superior to this in every way is just dumb.
